Who: Michelle Campbell Wright & Oliver Wood. Later on a mystery guest Alicia Spinnet.
What: A chance encounter in a Muggle neighbourhood or: Two fish out of water.
When: February 16th 1998. Night.
Where: A Muggle suburb near London, then Alicia's flat.
Rating: Low.
Oliver buried his hands in the pockets of his jacket and did his best to look "Muggle". If asked the Scot would insist that he had somewhat mastered the art of "looking Muggle" - it was surely enough to enable him to walk through a Muggle neighbourhood without rousing suspicion. Of course there had been that one time where some sort of neighbourhood watch had cornered and attempted to question him (and remained very puzzled when their prisoner finally rolled his eyes in exasperation and escaped from the windowless room they locked him into. Almost as if by magic!). But other than that Oliver felt pretty confident – and rightly so, considering that he had been doing his rounds around Muggle neighbourhoods for the better part of two months now, spending night after night casting protective hexes on Muggle houses. It was the only thing he could think of that he could actually do to protect Muggles. Of course it was but a drop of rain in the ocean considering the amount of Muggle houses that still remained unwarded.
Oliver sighed and kept working. By now he could cast the spells in his sleep (which he thankfully didn't) and by midnight the Scot managed to work almost unthinkingly. Pick a house, aim, cast a spell. Repeat. Again and again and again.
He stretched, yawned and, seeing as it had been a pretty good night, decided to head back home when a sudden noise made him freeze in his tracks. Oliver really didn't fancy running into a pseudo-militant Muggle neighbourhood watch group again. Unless the noise was caused by something much more innocent like a little animal. Oliver's hand slowly went to his side, his fingers closing around his wand. For judging from his luck so far it was much more likely that the noise had been caused by something bad. Like a group of Death Eaters or Snatchers – and he really couldn't afford a fight in a Muggle neighbourhood!
