WHO: Penelope Clearwater & Percy Weasley
WHAT: It's going to take more than a basilisk to wipe out Penny Clearwater (for the Valentine's Day challenge!)
WHEN: BACKSTORY Late in the spring semester, 1993
WHERE: Hogwarts' infirmary
RATING: Low, I'd expect.
Penelope was growing a bit stir-crazy under Madam Pomfrey's supervision; it was almost like she had been conscious during the majority of her stay. Of course, that wasn't nearly true. In all honesty, Penny had only been conscious for a few hours. It had taken quite a while for the Mandrake Root to be matured enough for use in the drought, the one which would reverse the petrification of the incapacitated Muggleborns within the hospital wing, and it had also taken Penny quite a while to understand fully what had happened to her.
She remembered stalking the hallways with Hermione Granger, and she knew what she had been up against. Penelope was just surprised at how long she had been admitted into the infirmary, is all. When she had woken up it wasn't the school nurse that she saw first, or the drip that had been put into her arm (after all, she couldn't very well ingest a potion while she was paralyzed), it was the weather outside of the window near her bed. Had it been so long? What was going on in the school?
Penny knew she would find out soon enough. The rest of the petrified students had also been revived, and over the past hour several excited visitors had filtered in and out, a sure sign to Penny that the news had traveled through the rest of the school. She could tell from Pomfrey's gazing down her nose that it wasn't her idea of a good night, the cat being let out of the bag for everyone to know, but she made no move to stop the flow of visitors, so long as they kept quiet and respectful enough. And Penny knew that the few visitors she was expecting sooner or later could very well be both.
