I have been working on doing some database optimizations to see if it will help with the "Comment Rot" problem. It seems that during this, some information that was cached in the database was lost including journal layouts and profile information. If you find this information is missing, you will need to reupload it.

We have not lost any entries or icons. Also please be aware that the comment loss is still our number one priority. We have some cool things coming once we solve this major issue.

    What about icons not uploading? Or the all around slowness of the site? Or receiving comments from/for journals that don't belong to me? Or using the friend all tool causing custom groups being emptied? What about the list of site issues that was posted on July 28th? Will all of that be fixed before the "cool things" come?

    Will posting by email get fixed, again? I don't want to seem like I'm complaining, but a huge portion of my posts are through email, and it's been down for almost 2 months again, after a three month breakdown, after a 2 month breakdown........

    I've never had any comment rot problems, but I still can't upload icons using IE7 ....

    Hey.. Thanks for the update and all that; but I've just been hit by the deletion bug.

    My personal journal is 'fine'; save for the refusing to let me post to my own asylums randomly; but I've just noticed that my RPG and my Joker journals' user-infos & layouts have been deleted.

    Thank god I'm a graphic whore and I put text/etc into.. graphics, rather than writing eight hundred million words, so it's no problem on copy/pasting the image HTML... but it's still a really nasty error.. It's a problem. Comment rot IS more important, but hopefully entries won't start disappearing. :|

    i'm not sure if you're aware or not but i get my notifications through my t-mobile/sidekick e-mail and i haven't been getting my notifications for quite some time :-[ it's kind of annoying so i just wanted to comment and let you know

    I'm very glad that you're working on fixing the comment rot issue.

    Once that is done, I was wondering if you'd think about looking into the issue with the new page layout and the ad on the left-hand side? The ad really messes with any tables in entries, or just entries in general. For example:

    The table should be pushed down so far! It's very annoying, visually. Perhaps you could change that vertical ad to a horizontal add at the bottom of the page? That would work much better. Having the vertical ad in combination with the sidebar just doesn't work.

    I would LOVE to see some holiday journal layouts! I mean various holidays! But especially Yule/Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/etc.

    I'm kind of adding to the "Hey, I seem to be missing a few icons" parade, but I'd also like to thank you for the recovery of what was lost two days ago. Two of my userinfos had completely disappeared, but when I logged on the next day all the HTML had returned. Thank you so much for whatever you did that put my work back. I didn't really feel like having to put all that back in again.

    Everything you do is appreciated so please don't get to frustrated with our pleas of "OMG STUFF IS GONE!" :)

    I'm getting a LOT of blank pages right now. My friends page for this journal and one other won't display at all and neither will the profiles of a bunch of my others. They don't give me error messages or show up broken or with missing code, they just don't display at all.

    I'm glad to know the comment issue is being worked on, but is the work on it what's causing these non-displaying pages?

    The majority of my icons are gone. I don't know if this is a recent problem as I haven't been to IJ in about a week. But i do remember missing some icons before this. I really dont want to see this site turn into GJ...

    Add me to the list of people who can't access their friends page/have icons disappearing. I certainly hope that this is only a minor glitch that can be resolved.
