Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
I have been working on doing some database optimizations to see if it will help with the "Comment Rot" problem. It seems that during this, some information that was cached in the database was lost including journal layouts and profile information. If you find this information is missing, you will need to reupload it.

We have not lost any entries or icons. Also please be aware that the comment loss is still our number one priority. We have some cool things coming once we solve this major issue.
  • What about icons not uploading? Or the all around slowness of the site? Or receiving comments from/for journals that don't belong to me? Or using the friend all tool causing custom groups being emptied? What about the list of site issues that was posted on July 28th? Will all of that be fixed before the "cool things" come?
    • I was wondering the same thing. I don't want "cool things" before the list of "shitty things" are fixed.
      • Exactly. It seems like a diversion tactic to me and I'm not buying it.
        • Oh please! Where do you get the idea this place runs like that? "Diversion tactics"? Get a grip.

Even if squeaky were to have different priorities than you or I might have -- and I'm not saying he does -- that doesn't make it a "diversion tactic." I've never known anyone more open and forthcoming than squeaky about the status of the site and everything on it.
        • i doubt squeaky is even trying to turn this into another greatestjournal. i'm sure the shitty things will be fixed before the cool things come along, so don't just assume things.
      • We have some cool things coming once we solve this major issue. there.
    • what about the fact that squeak has a life outside of ij that includes a child that definitely should come before this website? he's only one person, he can't fix everything at once, at least he doesn't just give up on it and let it go to complete crap like system did at gj. i really wish people would learn to appreciate everything he does for us instead of bitching and complaining about what he hasn't been able to fix yet.
      • seriously, it's getting on my nerves that people are whining about things that haven't been fixed yet, and the website administrator's life doesn't revolve around it.
