I have been working on doing some database optimizations to see if it will help with the "Comment Rot" problem. It seems that during this, some information that was cached in the database was lost including journal layouts and profile information. If you find this information is missing, you will need to reupload it.

We have not lost any entries or icons. Also please be aware that the comment loss is still our number one priority. We have some cool things coming once we solve this major issue.

    In case it's helpful - this is the error Safari gives me when trying to access friends lists:

    Safari can’t open the page “http://happygoizzy.insanejournal.com/friends”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 302.)” (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork:302) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

    On Firefox, I just get a blank white screen. Also, uploading icons just results in a broken image. Other IJ pages load fine and commments seem to be working fine. I'm assuming this is related to the site slowness issue reported on the Twitter, but I wanted to provide the error message in case it could help you figure things out.

    I'm also experiencing a lot of icons missing now. Is this a permanent thing, or should I wait to see if they'll show up again before deleting and reuploading?

    Also, I agree in thinking that the perviously mentioned errors (friends filters, notifications, etc) should be fixed before any new features get introduced. I'd rather have minimal stuff working perfectly than a bunch of stuff only semi-working.

    That being said, I do appreciate your work on the site.

    I've turned on post notification, which is working fine. Just one problem. I can't delete any of the posts after I've read them. I also can't mark them as read. I've tried under both IE and firefox with no luck.

    Here's another error report!

    The site will not let me post to my own asylums; no matter which journal I'm logged in as to the same asylum. Clearing cache is futile.

    I tried joining one of my asylums that I needed to post to, since it always logs me out and back in as the 'wrong journal' for the past couple of months, but this time it's done something new: if I post to asylum X after I joined the asylum as that 'incorrect' journal (since Kef and I figured out that if both journals are members of the same asylum, we can still post by clicking 'switch'), that asylum does not show up in the list of asylums to post to.

    It was frustrating before, but now it's.. there's no word for it, if the asylum doesn't even show up in the approved membership list.

    add me to the list of folks missing all my user icons... and apparently also the images from my custom mood theme? They're not displaying, at any rate.

    and I'm also one of those people that can't delete messages from the message center.

    thanks for your hard work, and for keeping us updated on site issues. :)

    whenever i try to upload an icon i get

    <--I'm down like..95 icons, though? Sooooooo maybe that can get fixed too. It's annoying to have to relabel all the time.

    I just got a paid account so that I can have more icons, and now said icons are gone. It's really, really aggravating.

    An update as to why the icons are disappearing would be nice. I've lost nearly all of them to this journal and any new icons across several journals, including my permanent account.

    While I'd like to thank you heavily for the work you do and the way you keep us updated while doing it, I sincerely hope that this current icon loss will not be permanent. My personal journal and that of my friend have lost all icons. (well, ok on mine one rather ironic one stayed) but other than that they're all gone.

    2 of my 198 icons are still working.

    The rest are all gone. I really hope this isnt permanent. I busted ass to get those all made and up.

    PLEASE DON'T TELL ME I HAVE TO UPLOAD EVERY ONE OF MY ICONS AGAIN! Fix the icons! That's priority one! The comments work fine!

    All icons gone from many journals and many journals belonging to friends. It's like an icon ghost town. :(

    Some journals seem to have one or two icons remaining, and from what I can tell they are either defaults or ones that were used in the last entries written. Hope that helps. :/

    Squeaky, you're always full of awesome...I hope this is fixable. :*

    A high majority of my icons seem to have been broken. I sincerely hope that this is only temporary. It is rather annoying that I've lost use of my icons though, since I've paid money to have as many as I do.

    Please get the problem fixed soon.

    Not sure if you know this but icons have been either vanishing or not being able to upload.
