Awareness Night: Fundraiser for St. Mungo's

[for more information about what this event is all about, click here.]

• Created to mimic the feel of many architectural and artistic designs around the world, both magical and muggle alike, the International Wizarding Museum serves as more of a beacon of tolerance than any other place in Wizarding Europe. The point of the museum and gallery was to display that talent (and taste) is a universal concept that trascends blood barriers. Though the museum is only known of my those of wizarding association, it has generally been well-received by those stemming from muggle families, or knowledgeable of the muggle world.
• Its collection features galleries of either original or replicas of artifacts or other artwork created by both magical and muggle artists. Anything that might potentially be in danger of disappearing likely has its replica on display. Security around these objects will be at max levels, whether they're the real or fake version.
• As this event is later in the evening, there is no formalized sit down dinner. There are, however, four large tables of assorted foods (everyone can find something they like!), and a full dining area to sit down to eat and chat in. Some of the snack foods are heavy enough to constitute as a meal all on their own, but the fourth table is nothing more than an expansive dessert bar.
• On the opposite side of the room from the dining is a full bar, though there are waiters rushing around everywhere with champagne to keep guests happy as well. Bartenders and waiters have been instructed to keep a sharp eye on guests, and have been giving the right to refuse more drinks to anyone they might thing has gone over their limit.
• The press is here! They have been instructed to be subtle and not force too much attention to anyone that doesn't want it but don't be surprised if you end up in a photo or two!
• Designed to mimic the Hall of Mirrors in Herrenchiemsee Castle, the ballroom is by far one of the most impressive rooms in the building.
• For a reprieve from the social aspects of the party, a few exhibits will be open, though most of the museum is closed off for the evening to keep a controlled eye on guests and events. One "exhibit" that will be open out back though are the world famous gardens, which offer a break from the party and fair amount of solitude for anyone that might need it.
• And of course, since this is a charity event, there are a few discreet but easily located tables set up where guests can go and donate more than what they paid for their tickets, if they so desire. One group, specifically sponsored by the Carrows, will be there with more information on conditions and illness that are less common to those with magical blood. They will also do a short presentation near their booth at 10:00PM/22:00 for anyone interested to know more.
• At midnight, a moment of silence for Charity Burbage will be held in the main ballroom.

Tonks and Bellatrix

Oh but Bellatrix was bored. These events used to be more enjoyable back at the height of Voldemort's reign (and yes, Bellatrix certainly did still call it a reign, because it was one no matter what anyone else said), back when certain expectations were met. Not that those expectations couldn't still be met ... Bella was sure she or her husband would zero in on someone new to play with sometime tonight. Her appetite was whetted now that she'd tasted torture again with the Burbage whore. She wanted more, but she wanted to do it differently. She needed to get everyone together and discuss strategy, meaning, goals. It was fine to enjoy it but another to enjoy it while making a statement.

She thought a stroll in the garden would be nice, and she headed for an exit, a full-bodied red wine in hand. Some fresh air could re-invigorate her for the moment.

Bellatix was easy to spot in the crowd, and the moment Tonks saw her, her blood ran cold. Of course her dear aunt couldn't leave well-enough alone, and she couldn't imagine her actively supporting any sort of charity, especially one that had anything to do with Muggles.

Her suspicions raised, she slowly moved toward Bellatrix, making sure not to appear as if she were doing it on purpose. Just wandering from group to group for a few minutes, until finally she was within arm's reach of Bellatrix.

"Mrs Lestrange?" she said. "Well, this certainly is a fancy affair if a woman of your caliber appears."

Bellatrix was near the exit when she was stopped, and she turned, glancing with more than a bit of obvious disdain at the woman who'd said her name. More disdain when she realized she had no idea who the woman was. "I'm not sure I understand what you mean," she said, her tone laced with the sort of insincere sweetness that Bellatrix was good at.

The disdain didn't surprise Tonks in the least, and it only made her smile wider. "Anyone could buy a ticket, of course, which is brilliant for the hospital. But having someone if your social standing here - a pureblood of such a strong family - only validates everything we're trying to do here. It's an honour."

"I'm sure you think so," Bellatrix murmured. "My family regularly gives to worthy causes, so long as we can ensure that our donation is used -- properly." And by properly, she of course meant that so long as her money didn't end up supporting anything that had to do with Muggles ... she knew how to manage her money and her donations. Always has.

No surprise there in the least. Still, Tonks forced herself to keep on smiling. "Naturally. I'm sure St Mungo's will take care of it." She nodded to the door. "Were you heading out to see the gardens? I hear they're stunning."

"They are," Bellatrix replied in a clipped tone. "And I was. Alone." She narrowed her eyes at the young woman and tipped her chin up slightly. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I believe I was just leaving."

"Of course," said Tonks, and she gestured for Bellatrix to go. "I'm heading out to the garden as well, but I'll keep my distance, don't worry." Bellatrix certainly couldn't keep her from a public place, and like hell was Tonks letting Bellatrix out of her sight unless she had to.

Bellatrix smiled tightly but said nothing else as she slipped through the doors and along the edge of the garden and into the shadows. She was good at disappearing when she wanted to, or needed to, and now that she seemed to have attracted unwanted attention, she would return more quickly to the ballroom and to her husband.

Tonks followed, keeping her distance as promised and branching off down a separate path, her fingertips lingering near her wand. It was probably an innocent break from the chatter indoors, but as far as Tonks was concerned, nothing her aunt did was innocent.
