Who: Everyone!
When: Late Monday night, after curfew
Where: All over the mansion
What: Weapon X attack!
Notes: This is a bit long but please read all of it so everyone is on the same page. This thread will run like the field trip thread and you can also make separate threads if you want to. The attack will end with Weapon X eventually retreating, there will be another post for that later. Have fun :D

The soldiers had their orders. And while some thought the sheer number of the attack force to be rather ridiculous for a school, none would ever question their orders. Doing so never ended well. The Weapon X operatives had arrived on the mansion grounds mere minutes earlier, debriefed well before bypassing the security systems and the gates. They had already separated into their groups, most of them not expecting to see any action. It should have been a quick in and out job.

Vanessa Carylsle, pale-skinned and blonde-haired, led a small group of the top soldiers, taking them around to one of the small back doors that led in near the kitchen. She wrapped her arms tightly around her torso as one of the men picked the lock. They'd already hacked in, taken down all the security systems. They knew the mansion inside and out, every nook and cranny, every security measure. The door pushed open silently, and the group met the darkness of a school well after curfew, silent and empty. She knew students would be out after curfew, crammed in the Rec Room trying to avoid detection, visiting one another's rooms, getting ready to sneak out. She just hoped luck stayed with them. The former student led them past the kitchen, through the cafeteria (hearing a phantom crowd, remembering the laughter, the food fights, the arguments, the deep conversations, the scrambling to student for exams - she had to choke back a sigh), up the stairs, skipping the one that always creaked. As she headed the team, her mind swam with thoughts. They had brought so many soldiers! At least two per student and staff member. Even the dark-haired killing machine, the girl cloned from Logan, the most lethal weapon they had. Why would they bring her to a school full of children? Why so many soldiers? She prayed no one would see them, that they would grab Professor Xavier, find Cerebro, and make it out of there before anyone was the wiser. If not... She shuddered to think of the consequences.

The soldiers had their orders. Some found them strange, one or two might have considered them disturbing. But more of them looked forward to the chance to use their skills, stretch their legs, so to speak. They hoped something would go wrong, so they could have some fun. Some were armed with guns, some with tranquilizers, many of them had brought their own supplies, too: tasers, army knives, a night stick or two. They were prepared, the ones not charged with the stealth of a kidnapping waiting outside with baited breath, surrounding the mansion. They were to subdue the students and the staff that got in their way, to tranquilize anyone who interrupted - but they were to use lethal force on any threats. And a school full of mutants? The threats just ran rampant.

They were up the stairs. Vanessa led them past the student dormitories, to the staff suites. As they rounded on the hallway, she almost let out a sigh of relief. So far, so good. They had brought all that backup for nothing. They were so close, and with the security out of commission, who would get in their way? Logan might track them down later, but they would be long gone. She nodded down the hall, indicating a door on the other end of the hall. She should have brought them up the elevator, but feared it would alert someone to hear the mechanics of the elevator whirring. Slow but steady. They started down the hall, so close to their objective.

But so, so far. They made it only several steps down the hall when one of the doors opened. A lean redheaded man, clad only in green boxers, stepped out into the hall. Sean Cassidy craved a cup of coffee. And the craving had come at just the right time. The alert Irishman tensed the moment he walked into the hall, saw the shapes, let his eyes adjust to the darkness and even recognized one of the intruders. Oh hell. CHARLES. SAINTS ALIVE, CHARLES, GET UP. WE'RE UNDER ATTACK. He focused his thoughts on his old friend, well used to doing so after so many years. And he wasn't about to just leave it at a mental warning for the professor. His mouth opened at the same time, and a wordless scream left his lips - it served the dual purpose of alerting every staff member of the danger and pushed back the intruders with its psionic force. He turned, ran to Xavier's room.

Charles was startled awake by Sean's panicked thoughts. He instantly reached out telepathically. He saw for a moment what Sean saw, then tried to reach out to see into the minds of the people Banshee saw. He could see nothing. Xavier instantly sat up, pulling himself into his wheelchair. Not good. He couldn't sense any of the people he knew were in the hall. His eyebrows furrowed, knowing Sean would be with him in a moment. Everyone, wake immediately. We are under attack, soldiers in the staff hallway. There may be others. They are telepathically shielded. Protect the students and yourselves and evacuate them immediately. We do not know the extent of this attack yet, so be careful. He projected as calmly as he could - but he feared for the safety of all his students and all his staff. He never imagined something like this would happen.

Sean burst into the room. "Ye're first, Charles," he said, grabbing the wheelchair's handles. He sped into the hall. Xavier caught a glimpse of the attackers, tried to reach out to them mentally once more - but they were thoroughly shielded, every one of them. He frowned. He had to start the students' evacuations, he couldn't dwell on his inability to break past the impressive mental shields. Students, this is Xavier. I ask each and every one of you to follow the directions of the staff members who are about to find you without question and evacuate to the lower levels of the mansion as calmly and quickly as possible. Do not rush, do not get rambunctious and loud. Do as they ask, now. The now came out more forcefully than he meant.

The wheelchair sped into the elevator. Sean opened his mouth for one last scream, almost forcing the soldiers down the stairs. He slammed his hand into correct level number, and the doors closed. Xavier leaned his forehead into his hand, trying to keep track of the staff and students.

The soldier behind Vanessa frowned. He lifted his hand to his headset, clicking it on. "We've been compromised. Move in. Cut the power now." He wanted Xavier - and cutting the power gave them the powerful telepath caught in a solid metal cage. "Now!" he reiterated needlessly, just as their hacker forced his way into the right part of the system, cutting the power.

The power went out; the soldiers went in.

They had their orders.

Tabitha was running, tripping over couches and smacking into things as she flung timebombs like crazy over her shoulder. She was being pursued by men with guns. Angry men with guns! Holy crap why was this happening?! She was scare shitless, that was obvious, and I mean...come on! This was REAL! Not like those stupid training excercises in the danger room. Um, Hello! Not a drill! Omigawd, she could totally die! Ohgodohgodohgod!

She gave a little shriek as bullets hailed past and she ducked for cover behind a book shelf in a classroom. The men kicked in the door and followed her. Where was Bobby! Where was ANYBODY! Oh man, this was horrible! Tabitha tried to concentrate on summoning her time bombs as she shook behind the bookcase. But they kept fizzling out at her finger tips. Just like they always did when she was under pressure. Terrified, she didn't notice that the flickerings of small orange energy were having one effect...
They were drawing the attention of the soldiers.

They began making their way over...intent on their purpose.

Vanessa had been through a lot by the time the soldiers had decided to zero in on Tabby. She was trying so hard to help - she'd gotten Wanda to safety and had started to run back over to the girls' dorm, but was stopped short by Julian. He'd discovered her deception and wouldn't believe in her change of heart. She was dizzy from a blow to the back of her head and bruises all over, battered from Julian's rage and depression. Blood matted up in her hair. And she had only just dropped his form. Back to looking like Ness - Ness when she was trying to blend in with humans - the blonde girl staggered down the stairs. The soldiers ignored her. She just wanted... needed to find Hank.

She staggered down to the classrooms, frowning as she saw a crowd of soldiers make their way toward one. Her eyes narrowed. Why? Why couldn't they leave the students alone? Tears in her eyes, she shouldered her way through the thick of things, glancing in. Her eyes widened when she saw the telltale flick of orange energy. Her fists clenched. Shit. Tabitha. The soldiers paused, glancing over at Ness. She looked up at them, shifting to hide the blood. "Really? You need this many men to take care of one little wimp? I'll get her. We have a score to settle anyway." She worked hard to keep her voice even, glancing in nervously. "Go make yourselves useful elsewhere."

She really wasn't going to be able to use this sort of excuse much longer.

Tabitha poked her head over the side with relief when she saw Vanessa stride into the room and the soldiers back off. Her brain was refusing to make the connection as to why that was and everything was more than a little surreal to her right now. What with the adrenaline singing in her veins. But she was so glad to see Vanessa right at that moment, she nearly stumbled over herself to greet her fearfully.

Hell, she didn't even care about their little bouts of childish past animosity. "Vanessa! Oh man, I am so glad to see you! These soldiers were trying to kill me, and there was shooting, and like I'm pretty sure we're in bad trouble. We need to get outta here before something happens and we end up dead!"

Vanessa walked in with as much confidence as she could, head held high despite the pain ringing through it. She walked straight up to Tabitha, face stern. She sneaked a glance behind her. Shit. The soldiers were still there, watching. Not all of them, just a handful, but enough. One had pushed his way into the room, slinging his gun warningly. Dammit, she had probably passed him earlier, with Wanda. Her eyes narrowed. The men wanted a break. And a catfight seemed to be a good distraction, something these newer recruits were glad to indulge in for a minute.

They were going to have to act a bit. And if things went like they had with Julian... she cringed. She didn't want to think about it. She didn't want to hurt anyone. Okay, she hated Tabitha, and wouldn't mind roughing her up a bit, but dammit, she just wanted all of the soldiers to leave her friends alone. She took in a deep breath, slamming her hands onto Tabitha's shoulders as the younger girl ran up to her.

"Bad trouble, indeed," she said in a low voice. She leaned in, hissing in Tabby's ear, "Play along, for the love of God make this look convincing." She drew back a fist, slamming it at Tabby's gut, and hoped Tabby would move with it, because she drew back most of the power behind the blow at the last moment.

"Wait wha--?!" Tabitha didn't even have a chance to ask as a fist slammed itself into her gut and knocked the wind completely out of her. Her face contorted in surprise and shock as she doubled over and gave a painful wheezing gasp. Air...she couldn't...get any air. Stumbling she tried to push Vanessa away, but a hard punch to her cheek snapped her head to the side and she went crashing down hard. One of the soldiers smirked and straightened up a little, enjoying the show. He nudged the man next to him who didn't smile. But their guns stayed lowered as they waited to see the outcome.

Tabitha for her part felt a hot flaming rage sweep through her, burning with hate and outrage. This fucking bitch! This fucking bitch was...was betraying them! They were getting sold OUT!" Tabitha could feel the anger and hate gather in the palm of her hands as her mind found a new focus to latch on. Her fear pushed aside for now.

"F-Fucking WHORE!" Tabitha snarled as her air finally came choking back. She gathered a wad of plasma energy in her hand shoved them at the older girl with all of her force at point blank range.

Vanessa clenched her jaw. Shit. Why couldn't she have telepathy or some other useful power? Tabby hadn't gone with the punch, saved herself some pain, and now they were in much deeper than Vanessa had bargained for. She couldn't take those men. If she could just knock out Tabby, render her a non-threat...

The insult definitely helped her make everything much more convincing. For everyone involved. She narrowed her eyes and clenched her fists. "Watch your mouth!" she snapped. She didn't need to get reminded of even more of her past, not right now. She was well, well acquainted with Tabby's powers. She saw Tabitha begin to gather the energy, and had enough time to dodge to the side. She had no offensive powers on her own, but she had plenty more at her disposal, armed or not. She dove forward into a handspring after the energy exploded where she had just been. She vaulted over Tabby and came down with a hard punch at her face.

Tabitha's jaw gave a nasty crrk! sound as her boomies missed their target and Vanessa danced circles around her. Try as she might, she just couldn't land a single punch or a kick on the other girl...it was like she was someone different entirely! I don't get it! I had her ticket before...didn't I?! What's the deal?! Why can't I hit her?! Tabitha's shots became more wild, and Vanessa started to rain blows. Like a wolf nipping pieces here and there as she slowly wore down her prey.

Tabitha growled in hot rage, powers sparking even more in intensity and desperation as she senses this fight was not going to go well. She forgot the soldiers and the fighting sounds elsewhere...and just struggled to beat Vanessa. "You fucking traitor! I can't believe you'd...you'd just...sell out our family! We TRUSTED you!!" And to Tabitha that meant so much more than anything else.

Tabitha went in for a high strike, then suddenly dropped for a low leg sweep. Intending to knock her target off balance. Her cheek was swollen and her lip was already split.

Vanessa wished she could so easily forget the soldiers. She wanted to tell Tabby everything, but she was hyper-aware of the soldiers and knew she only had one choice in the matter. She had to get Tabby out of the fight, and just hope to God they both survived the night so she could explain it all later. She didn't have to hold back anymore. She could shove off all her Weapon X training. She hated every second of it.

"Shut the fuck up, Tabby!" she snapped, louder than she'd meant to. The accusations still hurt. Because the truth definitely hurt. She had sold out her family. She'd earned their trust and threw it in their faces.

The sadness necessarily turned to anger. She had to win this for them both to survive. She went to block the strike, watching intently as Tabby dropped. She dove forward, using Tabby's shoulders for a spring board as she rolled over the younger girl. Now behind Tabby, she pivoted and drove her elbow hard into Tabby's side, going with the motion, grabbing Tabby, and throwing her hard into the ground.

Tabitha was surprised as Vanessa expertly rolled over her shoulders, light as air and dangerously graceful. The wallop of an elbow into her ribs made her suck in a breath as her face contorted, and suddenly she was slamming into the ground. A bit of spittle mixed with flecks of blood flew from her mouth as her vision swam again. Fuck...fuck....her ribs....fucking...cracked her ribs...she... The anger from earlier was starting to dissipate and break apart as a sudden fear drove through her system like ice water. Tabitha felt around for something, anything and grasped a large splintered piece of wood. It was jagged and as long as her forearm, pointed like a shiv.

Taking a chance, she swiped at Vanessa blindly, hoping to slice or stab her or at least get her to back off. But it was more of a desperation kind of thing...

"F...F-Fuck you, Carlysle...th-they'll..." get you for this. Tabitha couldn't finish the brave threat, blood dripping down her chin as her lungs rattled and heaved. She'd go down fighting. She wouldn't just give up. Vanessa would have to kill her first.
