Who: Everyone!
When: Late Monday night, after curfew
Where: All over the mansion
What: Weapon X attack!
Notes: This is a bit long but please read all of it so everyone is on the same page. This thread will run like the field trip thread and you can also make separate threads if you want to. The attack will end with Weapon X eventually retreating, there will be another post for that later. Have fun :D

The soldiers had their orders. And while some thought the sheer number of the attack force to be rather ridiculous for a school, none would ever question their orders. Doing so never ended well. The Weapon X operatives had arrived on the mansion grounds mere minutes earlier, debriefed well before bypassing the security systems and the gates. They had already separated into their groups, most of them not expecting to see any action. It should have been a quick in and out job.

Vanessa Carylsle, pale-skinned and blonde-haired, led a small group of the top soldiers, taking them around to one of the small back doors that led in near the kitchen. She wrapped her arms tightly around her torso as one of the men picked the lock. They'd already hacked in, taken down all the security systems. They knew the mansion inside and out, every nook and cranny, every security measure. The door pushed open silently, and the group met the darkness of a school well after curfew, silent and empty. She knew students would be out after curfew, crammed in the Rec Room trying to avoid detection, visiting one another's rooms, getting ready to sneak out. She just hoped luck stayed with them. The former student led them past the kitchen, through the cafeteria (hearing a phantom crowd, remembering the laughter, the food fights, the arguments, the deep conversations, the scrambling to student for exams - she had to choke back a sigh), up the stairs, skipping the one that always creaked. As she headed the team, her mind swam with thoughts. They had brought so many soldiers! At least two per student and staff member. Even the dark-haired killing machine, the girl cloned from Logan, the most lethal weapon they had. Why would they bring her to a school full of children? Why so many soldiers? She prayed no one would see them, that they would grab Professor Xavier, find Cerebro, and make it out of there before anyone was the wiser. If not... She shuddered to think of the consequences.

The soldiers had their orders. Some found them strange, one or two might have considered them disturbing. But more of them looked forward to the chance to use their skills, stretch their legs, so to speak. They hoped something would go wrong, so they could have some fun. Some were armed with guns, some with tranquilizers, many of them had brought their own supplies, too: tasers, army knives, a night stick or two. They were prepared, the ones not charged with the stealth of a kidnapping waiting outside with baited breath, surrounding the mansion. They were to subdue the students and the staff that got in their way, to tranquilize anyone who interrupted - but they were to use lethal force on any threats. And a school full of mutants? The threats just ran rampant.

They were up the stairs. Vanessa led them past the student dormitories, to the staff suites. As they rounded on the hallway, she almost let out a sigh of relief. So far, so good. They had brought all that backup for nothing. They were so close, and with the security out of commission, who would get in their way? Logan might track them down later, but they would be long gone. She nodded down the hall, indicating a door on the other end of the hall. She should have brought them up the elevator, but feared it would alert someone to hear the mechanics of the elevator whirring. Slow but steady. They started down the hall, so close to their objective.

But so, so far. They made it only several steps down the hall when one of the doors opened. A lean redheaded man, clad only in green boxers, stepped out into the hall. Sean Cassidy craved a cup of coffee. And the craving had come at just the right time. The alert Irishman tensed the moment he walked into the hall, saw the shapes, let his eyes adjust to the darkness and even recognized one of the intruders. Oh hell. CHARLES. SAINTS ALIVE, CHARLES, GET UP. WE'RE UNDER ATTACK. He focused his thoughts on his old friend, well used to doing so after so many years. And he wasn't about to just leave it at a mental warning for the professor. His mouth opened at the same time, and a wordless scream left his lips - it served the dual purpose of alerting every staff member of the danger and pushed back the intruders with its psionic force. He turned, ran to Xavier's room.

Charles was startled awake by Sean's panicked thoughts. He instantly reached out telepathically. He saw for a moment what Sean saw, then tried to reach out to see into the minds of the people Banshee saw. He could see nothing. Xavier instantly sat up, pulling himself into his wheelchair. Not good. He couldn't sense any of the people he knew were in the hall. His eyebrows furrowed, knowing Sean would be with him in a moment. Everyone, wake immediately. We are under attack, soldiers in the staff hallway. There may be others. They are telepathically shielded. Protect the students and yourselves and evacuate them immediately. We do not know the extent of this attack yet, so be careful. He projected as calmly as he could - but he feared for the safety of all his students and all his staff. He never imagined something like this would happen.

Sean burst into the room. "Ye're first, Charles," he said, grabbing the wheelchair's handles. He sped into the hall. Xavier caught a glimpse of the attackers, tried to reach out to them mentally once more - but they were thoroughly shielded, every one of them. He frowned. He had to start the students' evacuations, he couldn't dwell on his inability to break past the impressive mental shields. Students, this is Xavier. I ask each and every one of you to follow the directions of the staff members who are about to find you without question and evacuate to the lower levels of the mansion as calmly and quickly as possible. Do not rush, do not get rambunctious and loud. Do as they ask, now. The now came out more forcefully than he meant.

The wheelchair sped into the elevator. Sean opened his mouth for one last scream, almost forcing the soldiers down the stairs. He slammed his hand into correct level number, and the doors closed. Xavier leaned his forehead into his hand, trying to keep track of the staff and students.

The soldier behind Vanessa frowned. He lifted his hand to his headset, clicking it on. "We've been compromised. Move in. Cut the power now." He wanted Xavier - and cutting the power gave them the powerful telepath caught in a solid metal cage. "Now!" he reiterated needlessly, just as their hacker forced his way into the right part of the system, cutting the power.

The power went out; the soldiers went in.

They had their orders.

She wrapped an arm around his waist, urging him to lean against her, hoping that she could help keep him up even though he was taller than her. It was obvious he was trying to head for the stairs. "Ye're not gonna listen to me, are ye?" she muttered. "Stubborn, hard-headed, idiotic....ye're gonna get yerself killed, and then what am I going to do?" As strained as their relationship was, she knew she wouldn't be able to deal with losing him.

She helped him over to the stairs as quickly as she could without drawing attention to them. He was going to go back into the fight, they both knew it, and the best she could do was give him the best chance she could. And that (somehow) involved the stairs.

Sean hesitated when Terry started to berate him. He looked over at her slowly, eyes widening a little. He couldn't be reckless like that when he needed to look after Terry. She'd lost her mother, Black Tom was in jail, she couldn't lose him, too. He gave a soft sigh into his muzzle, shaking his head, raising a hand to pat on her shoulder. He wished he could talk to her. Damn soldiers.

He was stubborn and proud, but he still had an inkling of common sense. But he still wanted to get to the stairs. If he was going to keep his head low and only interfere if absolutely necessary (as that was now his definition of staying safe), he was going to do it himself. He grabbed onto the banister with both hands, trying to pull back and rip it off. Damn. It was broken but stuck tight.

Once Kurt had gotten Kevin down to the Danger Room with the rest of the evacuated students he wasted no time in teleporting back out to help those who were still upstairs. No one could get people down to the safe room faster than Kurt after all. Unsure of where to start and what he might be teleporting in the middle of, he aimed for a generic area: the first floor near the stairs.

He appeared suddenly in a crouched position, still clutching the tranquilizer gun he'd grabbed earlier just in case. Once the smoke from his jump cleared he immediately spotted Terry and Mr. Cassidy crouched near the stairs thanks to his night vision. Without hesitation he teleported over to them. They were both bleeding and Mr. Cassidy was...almost naked and wearing a mask? "Are you alright?" he asked, glancing between the two of them. Stupid question, but he wasn't sure what else to say.

Terry jumped, biting back a scream. She was already paranoid and Kurt's entrance had been startling, although she was glad to see him. Maybe he could convince her father to not try to fight on a leg with a bullet in it. She was pretty sure Kurt was one of his favorite students. She was starting to think methodically, prioritizing what needed to be done in clear steps in her head. It helped quell the panic she was feeling. First step: Inform Kurt of the problem.

"Da was shot," she said immediately. "And they got him with this mask thing- it blocks him from screamin'- so he can't use his powers. I'm fine. Are ye okay?" He looked okay, and his powers were still effective enough for him to be teleporting around.

Sean shook his head even as Terry went on the negative. Or the realistic? He sighed again, but the sound was absorbed by the muzzle. He yanked again on the banister, but it wasn't going to give way. He stumbled a bit, tried to catch himself on the wall, and nearly fell right over. He winced as he put some pressure onto his leg, but tried to downplay it.

He waved his hand dismissively. Good Lord, he wished he could talk. He pointed to the tranquilizer gun, then gave Kurt a quizzical look. He hadn't seen any of the darts yet, but couldn't imagine Kurt carrying around a true firearm.

Normally Kurt would apologize for startling Terry, but right now time was of the essence. "Ja, I am alright," he answered Terry before hurrying forward to help steady Mr. Cassidy as he stumbled, catching his shoulder and helping to sit him back down again. It was obvious that the man was injured and wasn't able to do much at the moment. Kurt got the glance to the gun in his arms and realized how odd that it must look. "I took it from one of the soldiers, it is not a regular gun though. It fires..." he trailed off when he realized he had no idea what the needles that made people pass out were called in English, having never needed to say it before. He shook his head as if to dismiss that minor detail.

"I can take you both downstairs to the Danger Room," he said hurriedly, knowing they wouldn't be safe for long.

Terry helped Kurt lower Sean to the ground, wishing he'd just kept sitting in the first place. She saw him wincing as he tried to move but ignored it. He probably wouldn't want her to make a big deal over him being hurt, right? She was kind of glad her father couldn't talk at the moment, or else he'd try to argue with everything. Especially what she was going to say next.

"I'm not going to the Danger Room," she said, shaking her head slightly. It still hurt a little, but only when she moved it vigorously. Definitely not a concussion. Probably just a nasty scrape. "I'm going to stay up here, try to do me best to help out. I've still got me powers, I can defend meself." For the most part. As long as a soldier didn't engage her in direct combat, she'd probably be fine, she reasoned.

Sean tried to shrug Kurt's hand off, but appreciated the help nonetheless. He say down, though he would have preferred standing. If only he could get the damn muzzle off, he could be of a bit more use, injured or not. He nodded to Kurt, studying the gun for a moment. Kurt wouldn't use lethal force, Sean was sure of that, so he believed it had to be something to knock people out. At least the soldiers had some methods of subduing people. He just wished they'd make better use of their less deadly technology.

His head snapped up quickly to look at Terry. He reached out, grabbing her wrist. The students were all supposed to evacuate. He shook his head quickly, pointing in the general direction of the Danger Room. He was not about to let his daughter continue to disobey Xavier and get more injured.

Kurt couldn't say he was surprised by Terry's insistence that she stay and fight. After all, he had left the Danger Room to keep helping out where he could as well. It wasn't easy to just stand by when the school was still under attack. A sentiment that Mr. Cassidy very obviously agreed with. He on the other hand was injured and definitely needed to get downstairs, despite his protesting.

"Are you sure?" Kurt asked Terry, though he hated the idea of leaving her alone. Just as the words had left his mouth, the sound of gunfire from around the corner echoed in the stairwell. "We have to go," Kurt said urgently. "I will come back for you Terry," he said before turning to Sean and taking his arm.

She knew that if anyone would understand her need to help the other students in the midst of the chaos, it would be Kurt. After all, he was doing the same thing, wasn't he? Just with a little less confrontation, hopefully. She prayed that he would get her father down to the Danger Room okay and return only when it was safe.

The sound of the gunfire pulled her out of her prayers and she nodded to Kurt. "I'm sure. Get him and yerself outta here safe and sound. I'll stay around here as long as I can, Kurt." She could at least promise that. It would make her easier to find when he came back, and there was a lot of damage she could do from here. She could collapse the entire staircase with the soldiers on it if she really needed to- although she hoped it wouldn't come to that. The school was going to have enough damage as it was.

Kneeling, she wrapped her arms around Sean's shoulders, hugging him quickly. It was the first time she'd hugged him since she'd found out he was her father the second time, when their memories had been wiped. It would probably only worry him more, but she couldn't resist. "I'll be fine, Da, don't worry about me. Get going."

Sean was about to continue to protest in muffled noises when Terry knelt down and hugged him. That shut up him right quick. He watched her with wide eyes, giving his head a soft shake. He was proud of her, truly. Scared, but proud. He reached out, giving her a pat on the arm.

He sighed, the sound again eaten by the muzzle, and turned his gaze to Kurt, nodding quickly. He needed to get out of there before the fear won out over the pride he had for his daughter again.

Kurt waited for a moment as Terry leaned down to hug her father. He was relieved to see that Mr. Cassidy seemed more willing to cooperate now. "Be careful," Kurt said to Terry before taking Mr. Cassidy's arm once again and teleporting them both down to the Danger Room.

They reappeared inside the Danger Room near the door, their sudden appearance coupled with Mr. Cassidy's lack of clothing and mask drew quite a few curious glances and stares. "Are you alright, Herr Cassidy?" Kurt asked as the smoke from his jump dissipated around them. He glanced at the back of the Irishman's head, trying to see how the mask was attached.
