Who: Everyone!
When: Late Monday night, after curfew
Where: All over the mansion
What: Weapon X attack!
Notes: This is a bit long but please read all of it so everyone is on the same page. This thread will run like the field trip thread and you can also make separate threads if you want to. The attack will end with Weapon X eventually retreating, there will be another post for that later. Have fun :D

The soldiers had their orders. And while some thought the sheer number of the attack force to be rather ridiculous for a school, none would ever question their orders. Doing so never ended well. The Weapon X operatives had arrived on the mansion grounds mere minutes earlier, debriefed well before bypassing the security systems and the gates. They had already separated into their groups, most of them not expecting to see any action. It should have been a quick in and out job.

Vanessa Carylsle, pale-skinned and blonde-haired, led a small group of the top soldiers, taking them around to one of the small back doors that led in near the kitchen. She wrapped her arms tightly around her torso as one of the men picked the lock. They'd already hacked in, taken down all the security systems. They knew the mansion inside and out, every nook and cranny, every security measure. The door pushed open silently, and the group met the darkness of a school well after curfew, silent and empty. She knew students would be out after curfew, crammed in the Rec Room trying to avoid detection, visiting one another's rooms, getting ready to sneak out. She just hoped luck stayed with them. The former student led them past the kitchen, through the cafeteria (hearing a phantom crowd, remembering the laughter, the food fights, the arguments, the deep conversations, the scrambling to student for exams - she had to choke back a sigh), up the stairs, skipping the one that always creaked. As she headed the team, her mind swam with thoughts. They had brought so many soldiers! At least two per student and staff member. Even the dark-haired killing machine, the girl cloned from Logan, the most lethal weapon they had. Why would they bring her to a school full of children? Why so many soldiers? She prayed no one would see them, that they would grab Professor Xavier, find Cerebro, and make it out of there before anyone was the wiser. If not... She shuddered to think of the consequences.

The soldiers had their orders. Some found them strange, one or two might have considered them disturbing. But more of them looked forward to the chance to use their skills, stretch their legs, so to speak. They hoped something would go wrong, so they could have some fun. Some were armed with guns, some with tranquilizers, many of them had brought their own supplies, too: tasers, army knives, a night stick or two. They were prepared, the ones not charged with the stealth of a kidnapping waiting outside with baited breath, surrounding the mansion. They were to subdue the students and the staff that got in their way, to tranquilize anyone who interrupted - but they were to use lethal force on any threats. And a school full of mutants? The threats just ran rampant.

They were up the stairs. Vanessa led them past the student dormitories, to the staff suites. As they rounded on the hallway, she almost let out a sigh of relief. So far, so good. They had brought all that backup for nothing. They were so close, and with the security out of commission, who would get in their way? Logan might track them down later, but they would be long gone. She nodded down the hall, indicating a door on the other end of the hall. She should have brought them up the elevator, but feared it would alert someone to hear the mechanics of the elevator whirring. Slow but steady. They started down the hall, so close to their objective.

But so, so far. They made it only several steps down the hall when one of the doors opened. A lean redheaded man, clad only in green boxers, stepped out into the hall. Sean Cassidy craved a cup of coffee. And the craving had come at just the right time. The alert Irishman tensed the moment he walked into the hall, saw the shapes, let his eyes adjust to the darkness and even recognized one of the intruders. Oh hell. CHARLES. SAINTS ALIVE, CHARLES, GET UP. WE'RE UNDER ATTACK. He focused his thoughts on his old friend, well used to doing so after so many years. And he wasn't about to just leave it at a mental warning for the professor. His mouth opened at the same time, and a wordless scream left his lips - it served the dual purpose of alerting every staff member of the danger and pushed back the intruders with its psionic force. He turned, ran to Xavier's room.

Charles was startled awake by Sean's panicked thoughts. He instantly reached out telepathically. He saw for a moment what Sean saw, then tried to reach out to see into the minds of the people Banshee saw. He could see nothing. Xavier instantly sat up, pulling himself into his wheelchair. Not good. He couldn't sense any of the people he knew were in the hall. His eyebrows furrowed, knowing Sean would be with him in a moment. Everyone, wake immediately. We are under attack, soldiers in the staff hallway. There may be others. They are telepathically shielded. Protect the students and yourselves and evacuate them immediately. We do not know the extent of this attack yet, so be careful. He projected as calmly as he could - but he feared for the safety of all his students and all his staff. He never imagined something like this would happen.

Sean burst into the room. "Ye're first, Charles," he said, grabbing the wheelchair's handles. He sped into the hall. Xavier caught a glimpse of the attackers, tried to reach out to them mentally once more - but they were thoroughly shielded, every one of them. He frowned. He had to start the students' evacuations, he couldn't dwell on his inability to break past the impressive mental shields. Students, this is Xavier. I ask each and every one of you to follow the directions of the staff members who are about to find you without question and evacuate to the lower levels of the mansion as calmly and quickly as possible. Do not rush, do not get rambunctious and loud. Do as they ask, now. The now came out more forcefully than he meant.

The wheelchair sped into the elevator. Sean opened his mouth for one last scream, almost forcing the soldiers down the stairs. He slammed his hand into correct level number, and the doors closed. Xavier leaned his forehead into his hand, trying to keep track of the staff and students.

The soldier behind Vanessa frowned. He lifted his hand to his headset, clicking it on. "We've been compromised. Move in. Cut the power now." He wanted Xavier - and cutting the power gave them the powerful telepath caught in a solid metal cage. "Now!" he reiterated needlessly, just as their hacker forced his way into the right part of the system, cutting the power.

The power went out; the soldiers went in.

They had their orders.

Wonder of wonders, Kevin was actually asleep for once. He tended more toward insomnia than healthy sleeping habits, but tonight he was fairly soundly asleep, for him -- until, that is, the voice in his head jolted him awake. In his confused state, Xavier sounded so close, and he shrank instinctively away from where the voice sounded like it was coming from, until he realized that it was coming from inside inside his head. And that Now sounded serious.

He slipped out of bed, glancing over at his roommate in the other bed as he switched on his bedside lamp. "Kurt?" he said, maybe louder than he should have if there was something bad going on. "Hey. Did you just hear--" And then Kevin heard something for real, not just in his head, out in the hallway: heavy footsteps, then loud voices and some ominous pops that... oh, Jesus Christ, could that really be gunshots? He froze up, really scared now, his eyes darting to the closed door.

Kurt had also been asleep when the Professor's voice echoed in his mind. Waking up groggily, he wasn't sure at first if he had just dreamed the announcement about evacuating or not. When he heard Kevin very clearly say his name however, he sat up and rubbed his eyes before glancing over to his roommate. "Was? What is going on..." Kurt trailed off at the sound of the gunshots outside the door.

"Mein Gott!" he said, throwing the covers off of himself but then making no further movement as both boys watched the door anxiously. The footsteps were getting louder as the intruders approached, then suddenly stopped outside the door. Fear seized Kurt and he held his breath as muffled voices came from the other side of the door. The roommates watched as the knob turned and the bright light from a flashlight poured into the dark dorm.

Luckily Kurt's night vision adjusted quickly and he could see the armed solider creeping towards them while another raised a gun behind him, firing it with a pop. With a sharp gasp, Kurt teleported in a heartbeat and reappeared beside Kevin as a tranquilizer dart sailed through the purplish smoke and stuck into his pillow where he'd been sitting just a second ago.

Kevin shouted in surprise as Kurt went bamf and reappeared next to him -- not really surprised by the sudden teleportation, since he was used to that, but by the fact that whoever these people were, they had guns and they were shooting at them. Whatever presence of mind he managed to have at times went out the window at the thought that he could very easily die, right here, right now. There was no time to think. Before the solder in the doorway could fire one at him this time, Kevin launched himself at the one who was creeping towards him.

It was night, and in his pajamas, Kevin's deadly skin was as uncovered as it ever got. His arms were bare to the elbow, and as those were really his only weapon, he used it without thinking, diving right into the solder in front of him and sticking his hands in the man's face. Fear and adrenaline made him stronger than he would normally have been, and his unexpected and really stupid attack surprised the soldier enough to send him bowling over onto the floor. And then the man wasn't so much surprised as screaming in agony, as Kevin's death touch ate away at the uncovered skin of his face, stripping his cheek of flesh faster than he could react.

There were no thoughts running through Kevin's head at all, other than the one screaming at him to survive this attack at any cost. He just kept pressing, and it was good, letting the power inside of him finally work like it wanted to, letting it eat away at the living flesh. He was hurting this man, maiming him, maybe killing him (surely no one could survive without a head?), and the part of him that should be horrified and aghast at what he was doing was silent.

He'd let his focus slip from the second man, the one who'd tried to shoot Kurt, and so it came as a surprise when that pop sound came again and his shoulder was suddenly on fire. Oh, God. Kevin whipped around to check how badly he'd been shot, and raised his shocked eyes to Kurt when he found a pair of needles sticking out of his shoulder. "He jabbed me," he said in surprise, in those few seconds between being stuck with a tranquilizer and passing out.

Kurt could do nothing more than watch in shock as Kevin lunged at the soldier and grabbed for his face. He'd never seen his roommate use his powers on a person before of course, and dear God it was horrifying. The man beneath Kevin writhed and screamed in agony as Kevin's touch practically dissolved his face. Kurt was forced to wrench his eyes away and instead made himself focus on the second man who was still armed.

He teleported over to the soldier, aiming a kick towards the man's head before vanishing again. The hit had worked to throw the soldier off guard but not before he managed to fire the tranquilizers at Kevin. Kurt teleported again, this time in front of soldier and managed land a hit to the face that caused the intruder to drop the gun and stumble backward into the hallway. Grabbing the tranquilizer gun from the floor, Kurt scrambled over to Kevin just as he passed out.

"Kevin!" Kurt said frantically. He went to grab Kevin to try and shake him, but immediately recoiled. He was afraid to touch his roommate, especially after what he'd just witnessed. It was then that notice the tranquilizer darts in Kevin's shoulder. "Scheiße" Kurt muttered. He knew the both of them needed to get the hell out of there before the soldier returned with backup. He scanned the room quickly for Kevin's gloves, spotting them on the boy's night stand. He grabbed them in one hand, passing the tranquilizer gun over to his tail. With a deep breath he used his free hand to very carefully grab Kevin's shoulder where his shirt was covering his skin. With a bamf and a swirl of smoke he teleported them both downstairs.

It was an hour or so later when Kevin awoke, groggy and disoriented. His memories of what had happened were hazy at best, and he shook his head as he sat up, not sure where he was or how he'd got here. "K-Kurt?" he mumbled, his tongue feeling thick in his mouth, numb as the rest of his body after that dose of tranquilizer. He did remember his roommate being there, and both of them being afraid, and then... the soldiers, right, and --

Oh, God, he'd touched someone. The memory came back in a flash: the sight of skin crumbling to dust under his hands, the soldier's screams, the way it had felt, the way he hadn't stopped himself. Kevin's stomach twisted, and he clapped his hands over his mouth to keep from retching. ...His bare hands. He didn't have his gloves. There were people all around, other students, teachers, and he didn't have his gloves and he'd just hurt or maybe killed someone and Jesus Christ, he was starting to freak out over this.

Once Kurt had teleported the two of them downstairs they were quickly ushered into the Danger Room were most of the other students were huddled. After he'd made sure Kevin was safe, Kurt had gone back out to help evacuate more people before he was ordered back to the Danger Room by Mr. Cassidy. So now he sat not too far from his unconscious roommate, his back to the cold wall, feeling exhausted from pushing his powers so hard. It was nervewracking to say the least, not knowing what was going on and whether everyone was alright or not.

He was relieved however when he heard Kevin stir and mumble his name. "Kevin! I am right here," Kurt said, turning to his roommate as he started to sit up. Kurt's hopeful expression soon faded however as Kevin's face paled visibly and he started to panic. Fortunately Kurt had remembered the gloves and they were lying on the floor beside him. He grabbed them quickly and handed them to Kevin. "It's alright! We are safe, I have your gloves," he said softly, trying to placate the other boy. It was completely understandable for him to be freaked after what had taken place and now waking up on the floor of the Danger Room.

Kurt had his gloves, and that at least was something. Kevin fumbled them on, though his hands shaking badly made that difficult, but once they were on it was a little easier. If he wasn't looking right at his bare hands, the memory of pushing them into a living human being's face and watching him decay was easier to put aside for the moment. And... Jesus, Kurt had been right there, had seen him do it. What must he have thought?

"Oh, shit," he whispered, and swallowed hard, lifting his gaze to Kurt's face, his eyes wide and scared-looking. "Jesus, I... touched him. That guy. I k--" He shook his head, sickened all over again at the thought of the word 'killed'. He didn't know that the guy was dead, after all, though how anyone could survive what his touch did, or why they would want to live in that much agony, he had no idea. "W-what happened?" he got out. "After I touched him. Kurt. You okay? Did they get you?" Whoever 'they' were. He supposed they were safe, at least, to judge from the other students and teachers who were down here in what he recognized as the Danger Room, but maybe they were prisoners. Maybe everyone else who wasn't here was dead, or still up there fighting.

Kurt watched anxiously as Kevin struggled with his gloves and then turned to him with wide eyes. Kurt was at a loss for words for a few moments, his mouth opened and closed as he tried to think of what to say. He had witnessed his roommate kill someone right in front him. In their dorm room. And while it had been in self defense it had still be disturbing and traumatic. For both of them it seemed.

"I know," Kurt eventually said softly. "I am alright, I brought you back here before things got worse. But I should have gotten us out of there sooner so you didn't have to....I am sorry, Kevin," he continued, feeling genuinely guilty that his fear had caused him to hesitate when he should have teleported them away immediately. "Are you alright?" he ventured to ask, his yellow eyes glowing softly in the dimly lit room.

Kevin shook his head, silently saying no to all of it. He wasn't all right, there was nothing all right about this situation, but it also wasn't Kurt's fault that he'd done what he did. He would have liked to tell his roommate that, but he didn't have enough words left in him, and so he just shook his head again and swiped at his eyes with the back of one gloved hand. He wasn't crying, but his eyes were hot and itchy and wet anyway, and he wanted that feeling gone.

He crunched himself up small, already closing off, blocking out the world like he did when it was hardest to cope with this curse of his. "Fuck," he said into his knees, barely audible. "I didn't mean to. I didn't want to." But of course he'd meant to. You didn't go around sticking your hands in people's faces unless you meant it, not when you were Kevin Ford, Super Death-Touch Freak Extraordinaire. He turned away from Kurt, hiding that fear and guilt and self-loathing as best he could.

Kurt wasn't exactly sure how to go about comforting Kevin, or if he even could at all. He had dealt with a great deal in his life, but never something like this. He couldn't fathom dealing with a power like Kevin's, or killing someone at all. The two boys weren't particularly close, mostly because Kevin kept everyone at distance. Understandably. But Kurt did feel that he knew Kevin better than most anyone at the school simply because as roommates they had spent so much time together. Kevin wasn't a friendly or open person like Kurt was, but Kurt was observant and had learned a fair amount about the other boy in the months since he had arrived at the school. And so he averted his eyes respectfully as Kevin hugged his knees to his chest, his eyes tearing up. He figured that Kevin wouldn't want him to watch him break down.

Kurt continued to sit beside him though, ready to help in anyway he could. "I know that you didn't want to, you are a good person," he said quietly. "They attacked us and...and you defended yourself," he continued. He didn't want to justify the fact that Kevin had killed someone, because in Kurt's eyes it was always wrong to kill. He knew that there had been other alternatives, that soldier didn't have to die. But he didn't want to upset Kevin any further. There was too much going on tonight as it was. But he didn't fault Kevin for being frightened and going on the defensive in a moment of panic. He just wished things hadn't turned out this way...

It was nice of Kurt to look away, though Kevin wasn't really in a place where he could appreciate that. It made him irrationally angry, that Kurt would try to comfort him, that he was trying to assure Kevin that he was good. He knew already that he wasn't a good person. What he'd done -- touched someone, listened to them scream, saw them die -- it wasn't the first time, and he knew, he just knew it wouldn't be the last. After all, that was all his power was good for, all he was good for: hurting and destroying living things.

He was angry and scared, and the way he dealt with those emotions was to lash out, make himself hard and spiteful to push people away. So it was very predictable that he lifted his head to glare at Kurt. "What do you know?" he demanded, his voice low and hoarse, angry. "You think I'm a good person? Jesus, you don't fucking know me. You don't. You--" The words stuck in his throat, and he gave up on trying to speak. He just hunched himself over, hiding from everything in the world, especially from his roommate.
