I am alive despite popular rumors. Simply barricaded in my classroom and office as of late as the school year starts. Thank you for the well wishes regarding my health. Madam Pomfrey has been wonderful and I'm fully recovered.

I am so sorry for not doing more to assist with the Hogsmeade trip. I promise not to neglect my duties next month. The Wolfsbane potion had some unexpected side-effects.... I am fully recovered, however, and I will make up for it.

I will never understand why people can't accept facts without putting a personal spin on things. Facts are nice and objective. If you focus on facts, you don't have problems.

It must be why I can understand history, but I don't get people. I like my facts too much.

It's here! I can't believe how busy it's been. I don't even have any responsibilities this evening, but I feel exhausted just running around making sure everything is ready for our first days of class. Seriously, I'm not sure how Dumbledore, Hagrid, and McGonagall prepare for each year and plan this event every year!

The feast went well, though I'm not sure how the students felt about me. The reputation of this position precedes itself.

Oh, yes. And I officially have no idea what I'm doing.

Today it's Whiskey Sour Day!

The whiskey sour is made with whiskey (often bourbon), lemon juice, sugar, and optionally, a dash of egg white. It is shaken and served either straight up or over ice.

The traditional garnish is half an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.

Its first mention goes back to 1870, however the ancient Egyptians had a very similar drink (without the egg white) with higher dose of lemon and sugar. It's first mention goes back to 1534 BC.

As predicted, there has been an increase in activity in the Owlery this week. I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that while staff may well reside on site during the summer holidays, they are not on duty till September 1st. We do not need to hear about your future prodigy or the delicate disposition of your child. Oddly enough, we are quite capable of observing such things when your child arrives in school. Might I suggest you use this time more wisely and give your owls some respite until the term begins.

I fear I've gotten myself into a slightly troubling situation and I would appreciate your advice. Help!

Yesterday's conversation was quite interesting. I look forward to having the opportunity for a more in-depth discussion about your lesson plan. We can work closely to come up with a curriculum that could be as exciting for us as it is for the students. Drinks should give us said opportunity.

Being a man of leisure, I'm free any evening. If Malfoy manor is a little too daunting, Kreacher has cleaned a few rooms at Grimmauld Place, although I'm not sure the house is very welcoming at the moment. On the other hand, it would be private. Let me know if that's acceptable or you have another suggestion.
