10.23.20 — late afternoon
Dean Winchester + Sabrina Spellman
Vallo Theater
The show must go on.
PG | CLOSED

Dean had seen Sabrina come and go a handful of times at Lux, and she'd stopped by the bunker for Adam's party, but they really hadn't met each other. He didn't care what everyone said, even if it was just acting, having to pretend you were in love with someone who was only sixteen, was awkward. On top of that, there was the fact that she wasn't fond of him because of what happened with Adam. Which, was a situation he really couldn't explain properly. Even now he still felt incredibly guilty for what he had done and regretted he hadn't tried harder.

He grabbed his script and made his way over to the theater for his first rehearsal with Sabrina, something he was kind of dreading. He had tried out for the musical on a whim and never imagined he would actually get a real role. Dean had been expecting to be cast in the background or told to work behind the scenes and when he found out his role, it had been a little overwhelming. Still, he vowed to power through it and stepped through the doors of the theater with determination and made his way down to the stage.

Sabrina loved acting. It hadn't been something she'd ever thought much about doing before playing Lilith in the Passion of Lucifer Morningstar back home but she'd enjoyed getting to get into the mindset of different characters and try out new things. The clothes were usually lots of fun as well. Not that they were anywhere near dress rehearsal yet, but she'd googled what Cinderella usually wore in the musical and the outfits were on point.

It was kind of funny how she didn't actually have that many scenes with her supposed Prince Charming. She was running from him a lot of the first act and then they were separated throughout most of the first. But they were finally working on one of those scenes that they were in and talking. Sabrina already knew her lines by heart, not needing to hold the script for the dialogue that they'd need to exchange.

She didn't care much one way or the other for Dean but it wasn't like Cinderella in the play was supposed to be head over heels for him anyway.

"You ready for blocking or do we need to just work on the dialogue first?"

Dean had skimmed over the script twice and had taken some time to focus on his lines, which was mostly song, but he had yet to memorize it completely. "Blocking, like, where we stand and stuff, right?" Which was really just another way to complicate things for him. "Um, maybe we could just work on the dialogue, first?" He suggested with a hesitant smile and moved to take a seat in one of the chairs, opening the script up to their first part. While had complained a bit about being Cinderella's Prince, he was grateful that the more intense action would be happening with Teagan.

"So, it's your birthday soon, right? Are you excited for that?"

"Yeah, blocking is where we stand so they can light us correctly." Or at least that was how it had been explained to her the first time. This production had very different lighting than Six did. Though all of them and the band had been on the stage the whole time during Six as well. So getting breaks behind the curtain was a fun new novelty.

She blinked at his question as she sat down on one of the boxes set off to the side so they could work on the dialogue. "Yeah, its next Saturday and my dad is letting me take over his club."

Sabrina wasn't that excited for it. She hoped everyone would have fun who came to it, but she was still waiting for the other shoe to drop and someone else that she knew to be sent home. It just didn't feel right to celebrate without her friends from home either.

"Lighting, right, cool." now it made a little more sense why they kept yelling at the girls about their blocking when he was around for the musical. "Yeah, I know, I'll be there working." His fingers trailed down to his part and he kept his gaze there for a bit, studying it closely.

"You're having a party at an awesome club, and you really don't sound all that excited about it." Why the hell was he making small talk with her? They were there to rehearse, not become bffs.

Sabrina stared at him for a long moment, lips pursed as she tried to make sense of him. "Are you under the impression that we're friends or something?"

Because why else was he talking about her lack of excitement over her birthday. That was not something she was going to talk about with some random adult, especially not Dean of all people. She had Dan, or her aunts, or her dad, or Alexis, or a million other adults in her life that she would go to if she wanted to get into her worries and fears. Not the idiot who left people in Hell.

"Because I think we should focus on the script."

Her response left him a little stunned, but if that was the way she wanted it, that was fine by him. "Me and you, friends?" Dean laughed heartily and shook his head. "I'm completely aware that we aren't, we're not even close to something like that." He growled deeply, tensing a little in his seat. "There's this thing that sometimes people do, you know. I think it's called, being nice, maybe? If you don't want to talk about it, you don't have to be-" such a bitch "so rude, a simple brush off would have been fine."

Honestly, he had no idea why he kept on trying with her when it seemed pointless. If she wasn't a friend of Adam's he probably wouldn't have even bothered in the first place. He continued to flip through the pages in search of the dialogue between them and quickly began to realize they didn't actually say much to one another.

"My darling! I did not recognize you. What are you doing here? And with a child? You must go back to the castle at once. There's a giant on the loose." He spoke the words in a monotone voice, staring down at the page while he waited for her.

There was such a thing as being nosy too but it didn't surprise her at all that he thought she wasn't being nice. Considering what she'd seen of him on the network it met up with what she knew of him. She was a girl so of course she needed to be nice and sympathetic and not be blunt like her aunts had happily raised her to be. He reminded her of Father Blackwood and her former principal Hawthorne and a hundred other men she'd crossed paths with.

But whatever, she was there to do the play, though she winced at how awful his reading of the lines was.

"The Giant has been to the castle," she replied, frowning as she knew Cinderella would upon seeing him. Easy enough to do now.

Looking at the script he noted that she would recoil from his touch, something that wouldn't take much effort on her part, he was sure of. Dean continued to read off the lines from the script, following after her until they reached the end of the scene. "Okay, let's do it again, but with the blocking?" He suggested and rose from his chair to move towards the stage, and put his script down on the stage so he could jump up. While he waited for her to join him, he picked up the script again and continued to look it over. "Do you think I'll actually have a horse? That would be kind of awesome."

Sabrina simply floated up onto the stage, easily finding her spot on it. Had he actually asked that question? "I doubt it. Milky White is probably the only animal that will be on stage and I'm pretty sure he's just a wooden prop that will get pushed around. The extra stuff, like horses, and carriages are usually just left to the audiences imagination."

Well the carriage might be a thing they built, but she knew her version of Cinderella didn't bother with one of those to get to the ball.

"But anyway, you've got the lines. What you need to work on before we even do the blocking is getting some emotion behind the voice. You want to embody the character of the prince." Who was a cocky, jerk so really, it shouldn't have been all that difficult.

"That's convenient," he muttered as he watched her float up. It had seemed like a valid question to him, given this was Vallo, and full of magical possibilities. "Right, the cow," he nodded and looked around the stage, trying to ignore the fact he was starting to feel nervous. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if it were someone else, but hopefully, he'd get over it. "Emotion, okay, I can do that."

Dean cleared his throat and held the book out a little, his gaze still fixated on the script. "My darling. I did not recognize you..." this time he delivered his lines with a little more emotion, but his words didn't flow together, everything coming out a little staccato.

After having done a play with a leading partner who had been able to play the passion and depth that Nick had this was just painful for Sabrina. "Okay. Stop."

She held up her hand and sat down on the stage. Blocking was definitely not going to be happening that day. Not at the rate they were going.

"What do you think about your character? What do you think motivates him to do what he does? Because sure, he hooked up with the Baker's Wife, but he's also been out seeking another princess too, and like he put actual pitch on the stairs of his palace to ensnare Cinderella. Why do you think he did all of that?"

He looked up from the script and stared at her blankly. "What, did I do something wrong?" Dean reached up to scratch at his temples, a little confused. What did he think of his character? What motivates him? How the fuck was he supposed to know?

"Uh..." he looked at Sabrina, to the script, Sabrina, and then his gaze began to wander around the theater. "I don't know, I mean, he must not be in love with Cinderella. He just wants her because she's beautiful, I guess?" He began to pace around on the stage, breathing in and out, trying to calm his nerves. Taking on a demon was a hell of a lot easier than acting.

"Seems like kind of a jerk, only cares about appearance, and is selfish."

Sabrina tried not to roll her eyes. It took a lot of self-restraint to let him just think about it and then answer her. He seemed to understand the prince at least a little. Though beauty wasn't why he'd wanted Cinderella. It was all about the thrill of the chase and finding her when she'd managed to escape him so many times.

"Yeah, that's him exactly. So you basically need to convey all of that in how you do his words. It's not just repeating them or reading them or anything. You need to convey all of that emotion so the audience experiences what he's supposed to be like."

It wasn't hard to see that her irritation with him had grown since he walked in the door, but he wasn't going to give up. Dean glanced over at her for a moment and then pulled his gaze away. Each time he looked at her, all he saw was disgust, unable to stop thinking about Adam in Hell, which then lead to him thinking about all the other times he had fucked up, people he had let down, and it was difficult to do anything but read the lines. He was trying too hard to keep his own personal emotions at bay that he couldn't put what he needed to it into the lines.

"You know, it would-" he began to speak, only to cut himself off as he walked away to the other side of the stage. "I guess I just wasn't ready for this. Maybe I should take some more time to myself and practice."

She did roll her eyes then, wondering what she'd done to get him cast as Prince Charming. At least they didn't have that many speaking parts together. A few more songs and scenes here and there, but most of her stuff happened with everyone else in the play. Which was just fine by Sabrina. The less she had to talk to the guy who left people to suffer in Hell, the better.

"Okay. But try not to take too long. There's only so many weeks before we actually perform this for people."

He had been pacing the floor in thought, and stopped suddenly when she told him not to take too long because they didn't have a lot of time. Something inside him snapped and he turned with a flourish, his gaze narrowed. "Look, I'm so- no, I'm not sorry. I'm not sorry that you're such a fucking bitch who thinks she knows all there is to know when she's not even seventeen years old. Who do you think you are, Sabrina? I-"

Once again he cut himself off and inhaled deeply, shaking his head. "Yup, don't worry, I'll get it soon enough. Thanks for being so patient with me."

It was so typical of the guy to yell at her and call her a derogatory term because he was feeling inadequate about his own abilities. It didn't even phase her at this point. She simply stared at him for a long moment raising her chin, looking down at him like the gnat that she thought he was.

"Why are you under the impression that I have to be patient with you?" she asked, hands on her hips. "You tried out for this part. You were told what it entails to do it and agreed to it. You are the one who doesn't know his lines by heart even though its already been over two weeks since we got these parts. And you are the one acting like a child and calling people names."

"Since you can't handle this like an actual grown up, I'm going to go take five and you can get a grip on whatever has you in this mood because I don't have to deal with it."

Nope, no, he was not doing this. Not with Sabrina, not now, not today, not ever. "I'm fully capable of doing it, thank you very much. Maybe I should rehearse with Teagan first." Which, was probably what he should have done in the first place. She wouldn't make him uncomfortable like Sabrina was, he wouldn't look at her and see Adam in hell. No, it would be different, she would be a little more patient, hopefully, but he knew he wouldn't be as awful as he was being right now. His scene with his brother would be a walk in the park, all they had to do was try and out lament one another.

"This is the most we speak to each other in the entire show, so..." Which was a little odd, given the fact she was supposed to be his princess and yet he was never with her. "I think we can call it quits for the day and come back after I've worked with everyone else."

"Obviously you're not, Dean. Otherwise you wouldn't be yelling at me, calling me names, and then deciding you're just giving up on this practice. I don't know what your problem is but figure it out and work through it because we are going to have to rehearse. This may be our only speaking part but you'll find we're in several scenes together." She wasn't even sure he had looked at the script more than once at this point.

"And just so you know, I will be letting my dad know about this great little conversation we just had." Sabrina teleported away at that point, completely done with Dean and his attitude.

Dean had been about to say something when she up and vanished out of nowhere. "I'll be letting my dad know about this great little conversation." He repeated mockingly and rolled his eyes with a sigh. Whatever, now he'd probably be out of a job, but he was sure he could find something else, and if all else failed there was always the DOA.

He jumped off the stage and made his way out, through the door, because he didn't have the luxury of teleporting around.
