No birthday dinner out to eat as there was a massive rain and lightning storm with hail. So I took a rain check.

So had frozen buffalo wings with jalapeno poppers.

Tomorrow we have furniture arriving a new bed (our old one is 10 years old) and a dresser (I've been using a laundry basket for the past five years...) so we won't be going out then.

But we'll be celebrating Eight years of marriage anyways. ^_^

Ian drove up here on Wednesday afternoon but we've been lazy and done very little.

It's my 29th birthday today... can't wait to have my carrot cake and birthday dinner. Now if only I could decide where I'd like to go.

"He" is a male worgen warlock, named for Viper, the most ill-tempered member of the Lucky Thirteen. Unlike Waveform, my worgen druid, who hated the entire time she was in Gilneas, Víper is having fun. Víper is gleefully running from place to place blowing things up (he's a destruction warlock, which means All The Fire Spells, and since darthneko started Crossfire, a worgen mage, with me and we're still getting triple xp bonus for playing together, Víper is also seriously over-leveled).

Víper was not thrilled with his starting gear, which he said - and, yes, I am quoting the imaginary person - made him "look like a priest". He is even less thrilled with the lovely blue ensemble he is presently wearing (though he says on Crossfire it looks hot).

( Really, I think you can see why he feels inadequate next to Crossfire. )

He is slightly mollified by the fact that Crossfire has died multiple times, even though it kind of makes him feel like he should be following her around like a large, surly, fireball-throwing guard dog. This doesn't stop him from laughing at her when it happens, mind you. Also, she's LITTLE, he says, in this vaguely horrified "my whole cohort was pretty much the same size wtf" tone. Not as little as she was when they were human, but still. LITTLE. Which is odd for me as player, since when playing female worgen I've never had the impression they were small (female humans are small, female Pandaren are small, female worgen, not so much).

So, yes, this is what I am reduced to: full-on RPing my TF OCs in WoW. And I'm having a blast.

Edit: If any WoW players are wondering, the Guild of Awesome design uses the Gilnean flag instead of the worgen symbol because I, personally, think the worgen symbol is stupid and lopsided, and I'm the primary player of worgen in the guild. So when darthneko was working on the design, I said, "please can has Gilnean flag?" and she said "can has!" and there it is, all nice and balanced looking at the bottom of the design.

Doctor Who is a show I love, but I almost never blog about. So, here's a post.

While I had been enjoying the second half of season, there was nothing that blew me away. "The Name of the Doctor" fixed that.

Having replayed the end bossfights in KH2 (which is possibly the longest sequence I know of? Or at least has more stages than Kefka's whack-the-tower thing), I'm kind of wondering- what in the world is the dragon-ship thing? What is it meant to do, how did it happen?

Also the throne thing is kinda odd, what is all that about. :|a

So, today* darthneko cleared out all but 70 gold from our guild bank to buy the third guild storage tab (500 gold). Then she and I hauled our pandas out to Northrend.

By the time we were finished, we stuffed enough gold back in the bank to buy the fourth tab (1000 gold), with 200 gold left over. Also, we are only five levels away from getting to go to Pandaria. We are hoping to find slightly more panda-friendly armor there, as gear designed for six foot tall, ninety-eight pound elves just looks silly on pandas.

1. My laptop is dead and my charger has given up the ghost, so for the moment my computer time is...flexible. Let's call it that. That sounds nice.

2. I have a surprisingly wide excitables list for next year. Black Sails, Sleepy Hollow, Gothica, tentatively Almost Human...but like Defiance, I think I'm going to try and wait it out until season one is finished before I start watching. I've discovered I do much better that way? BUT IT'S HAAAARD

3. I'd be excited about Epic - and I'm seeing it everywhere - except Fungus Grotto is a carbon copy of their plot, only progressive. Like, the 'goes to the miniature/otherwise alien-yet-familiar world is a familiar plot points, especially with fairies and lost parental figures and size shifts (I think Alice in Wonderland influenced the form that a lot of Western 'under the mound' type stories take hugely) and it looks like this takes a seriously different form, but at the same time I keep thinking - I saw this. It had a WOC as a lead, with a live and active female beloved parental figure, and I waaaaant that one. Anyway, who knows. It would be a good family film so when it comes out I might use it to tug Mom and Sam out of the house, and I'll keep an open mind.

4. I thought I was fully done with TVD, but I went back out of curiosity to watch the last episode, and now the events of the finale (which I knew better than to watch) have been so vile to hear about I suspect my brief dip in the pool has left me scummy with lingering investment.

5. I am drinking REALLY GOOD VODKA tonight.

So, for ages I've had the idea of writing a post on what I think each White Collar character's D&D alignment is. If you don't know what the heck an alignment is in this context then look at your life, look at your choices this may help. I'm actually going quote a bit, because I feel it's especially relevant.

The third edition D&D rules define law and chaos as follows:[8]

Law implies honor, trustworthiness, obedience to authority, and reliability. On the downside, lawfulness can include closed-mindedness, reactionary adherence to tradition, judgmentalness, and a lack of adaptability. Those who consciously promote lawfulness say that only lawful behavior creates a society in which people can depend on each other and make the right decisions in full confidence that others will act as they should.

Chaos implies freedom, adaptability, and flexibility. On the downside, chaos can include recklessness, resentment toward legitimate authority, arbitrary actions, and irresponsibility. Those who promote chaotic behavior say that only unfettered personal freedom allows people to express themselves fully and lets society benefit from the potential that its individuals have within them.

Someone who is neutral with respect to law and chaos has a normal respect for authority and feels neither a compulsion to follow rules nor a compulsion to rebel. They are honest but can be tempted into lying or deceiving others if it suits him/her.

There will be spoilers for all four seasons of White Collar.

Read in the past week:

Making Money by Terry Pratchett. It's Discworld. It's Moist von Lipwig and Adora Belle Dearheart. What's not to love? And I thought that Vetinari was an especially magnificent magnificent bastard this time, but I think I always think that.

Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. Not as good as Silence of the Lambs, but it's been literally like a decade since I read Silence of the Lambs, so what do I know? I had a post brewing that compared the book versions of Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs to the movie verions, but since it's been a while since I saw the Red Dragon movie, and, like I said, roughly ten years since I read Silence of the Lambs, I'm not sure it would work.

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins. Really interesting, though certainly depressing. I was shocked but not the least bit surprised by what I learned in this book. Indeed, I feel like Perkins could have hit even harder than he did, but I understand that he had to struggle with a lot of both external and internal forces to write the book in the first place.

Currently reading: The Hakawati by Rabih Alameddine. Stories within stories within stories. A novel both about family and the very act of telling a tale. I'm not very far along, but I'm really liking it.

I'z gotz my badge, now to just pack up and leave. One more day of work this week. ONE MORE DAY. I will be so happy to have a few days off, it's not funny. Am hoping for decent goodies at the con as well (would be nice to have some NEW anime stuff available, so tired of see Bleach/Death Note/Full Metal Alchemist stuff there and not new series that have been out a year or so).

Yeah, I want K Sarumi doujin in the worst way. That pairing is like CRACK. *sniffs* Though what the hell is up with genderswitch? It's damn near canon (come ON, look at the official art for that series!), why do I have to keep coming across fic that has male characters as girls?

Has anyone ordered the recent Teahouse chapter book and received their stuff? I thought they were switching to a new distributor to get stuff out faster, and it's still been... what a month? Meanwhile, Guilt|Pleasure always gets their stuff out DAMN fast. And with shipping notices. I adore GP... (which is not to say that I don't adore TH, I just wish it didn't take a month or more to get the goodies I ordered off of their site, that's all). I don't see why it takes a MONTH to process an order of stuff that is supposedly in stock.

One more day of work. *sighs* I am so burned out it's not funny.

But I have managed to start PoD5....
