WHO: George & Allie.
WHAT: Accidental intrusion? George is attempting to read.
WHEN: 11/16/18, afternoon.
WHERE: A quiet corner of GCS.
It was simple enough. She was bored so George took the god awful book she’d been having trouble with and made her way to her favorite corner to read. It was out of the way and mostly a lonely place (if you ignored the people sneaking off to get laid) but it was near one of the windows so she didn’t mind too much. Picking a spot in the afternoon sunbeam coming in through the glass George leaned back against the wall, legs crossed at the ankles; book in her lap she opened to page ten.
She would give anything to get something decent, even if she had to bribe Evan to get it for her. At least then she was nearly guaranteed to get something she liked. He unlike most others had a decent grasp on what she liked to read. Apparently the last immune she’d asked to do her favor had a very different idea of the definition of literary classic. His had do with high fantasy her’s tended toward the works of famous authors of centuries past. A fact that left her very frustrated as she tried to wade through The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien.
The book wasn’t awful if she took a step back. It just wasn’t her thing. High fantasy never had been. There were too many details to memorize provided in only a handful of pages that made all the difference in whether the book was enjoyable or a complete waste of time trying to understand. There was a reason she never read Tolkien’s books three years ago. And she was going to be annoyed if the immune guy brought her some of Tolkien’s other works in the future.
Turning her attention back to the book George stared at the page trying to find where she’d left off. She was somewhere in the middle of this creation myth she just wasn’t sure where exactly, each sentence sounded so new to her even though she was sure she’d gotten to page ten before giving up last time.
