George held back a sigh when she didn’t hear the rustle of fabric signaling the other girl’s departure. It seemed that someone had other ideas as to what she should be doing with her time and she was more than a little content to fight it. If she’d wanted company she would have sought some. And had she’d sought company it would not have been with this girl who seemed to have no idea how to interpret body language cues.
“I’ll take your word for it.” She murmured still staring at the book. She wasn’t actually registering any of the words as forming narrative. They just sort of existed on the off white pages. They gave her something to focus on while trying to ignore her visitor.
Sighing in partial defeat she again slipped her thumb between the pages and turned her attention to the dark haired girl. Apparently she was going to have to play along and hope she grew bored in order to get rid of her. Taking Allie’s hand firmly in hers’ George gave it a quick shake before letting go. “George,” she said simply in response. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that she was none too pleased that she was playing along.
