EVERYONE! Er... *is lame*
Actually, I do want to thank everyone who participated this year! I had a grand time running this, despite the occasional hiccups, and everyone is simply lovely. It's so refreshing to have a warm, fuzzy exchange in fandom where everyone is so supportive of the insanity we are producing.
Extra love to ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) jin_fenghuang for taking on a last minute pinch-hit so I didn't have to torture more people with my own "art" than absolutely necessary.
So, now on to the reveals and some utterly foolish awards, all bestowed with adoration and groping!

Well, that's all folks... I'll get around to updating all the posts with user names in a couple days, once I get done with the large stack of student essays that are menacing me from the kitchen counter.

Hey everyone!
Just letting you know that due to a couple last minute changes/needs for pinchhits, the fest will be continuing onto 01 May. You'll still get your daily dose of foolishness; we just need one more day to get everything up. So, the reveal will be this weekend!
We do have the pinchhits covered by three eager lunatics fools who are manically scribbling/doodling/sculpting/whatevering away. My love to and headshaking at them all!
Edit: There are still a couple non-pinchhit gifts to be posted. So if you haven't seen your creation yet, don't worry that I've missed it... until Thurs. :P On Thurs you can prod me. I'd hate to overlook things! |

I'm open to suggestions on porny pic hosting.
Edit: I've got my domain set up, just waiting on nameservers to get in gear.
For the record, last year I had a unlimited gallery on a friend's server. Sadly, both the gallery and the friendship died. Hence this year's reliance on photobucket. But soon! www.preraphaelite1.com :P Oh yeah. Can you imagine?

The posting of the 2nd annual ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) hp_april_fools starts tomorrow 01 April!
Since we have 33 fools playing this year, we'll open and close with two posts, but otherwise have one amazingly wonderful, fabulously silly creation per day. You won't want to miss a single one.
For you particularly eager watchers *coughEeycough*, I'll be aiming to post each day at midnight PST (GMT -8). So posting will actually start in about ten hours. There may be occasional delays which we will blame on the Evol Porn BunniesTM or my girlfriend thegildedmagpie.
I encourage everyone to look and comment on as many fest creations as possible. Remember, the "artists" or "authors" of these works have bravely stepped out of their comfort zone to expose themselves to us. *eyebrow waggle* Let's enjoy the... view, shall we?
Also, remember that even if you are being exposed, you're not being revealed until 01 May. At which point you can remove your foolish masks and frolick naked as you claim/repost/self-pimp/deny your creations. If you want to respond anonymously to comments, feel free but not obligated. You are obligated, however, to comment on the gift you have been given. Otherwise, I'll beat you senseless for rudeness. :D And trust me, I'll enjoy that but you won't.

Don't go completely crazy on details of your prompt requests, but give enough so your gifter has some things to work with. They are not obligated to use everything.

| hp_april_fools 2009 Rules! |

1) All participants and lurkers must be at least 18 years old.
2) If you sign up for the festival and request a fic/art, you must give fic/art in return. Lurkers are encouraged to watch the fest, but they cannot make requests. This is an exchange, folks.
3) If you are an author, you will be creating art in any form for the festival. If you are an artist, you will be writing fic. If you are known for both, you will using alternative mediums.
4) The alternative mediums open to those who are both authors and artists are sculpture (stone, wood, clay, play-doh, butter, etc), fabric arts (quilting, needlework, etc), film (songvids, fanvids, etc), Sims, collage, puppetry, origami, altered book project, etc. The idea is to use a medium you are not experienced with.
5) Sign-ups will run from 07 January to 31 January. Assignments will be mailed out ASAP.
6) There is no rating or pairing restriction. Everything from G-rated fluffy gen to NC-17 gay incestuous cross-dressing bestiality is permitted. (You saw who your moderators are, right?)
7) Fics must be at least 750 words in length. There is no maximum limit.
8) Fics must be spell-checked and preferably beta read. If you cannot find a beta (for either fic or art), we will be making a post to gather volunteers.
9) All fest creations must be emailed as a completed post in Word Doc format, with any necessary coding and the required header, to the Fest Mods at hp.april.fools@gmail.com by 21 March.
10) Hosting for artworks will be provided by pre_raphaelite1, unless you choose to use your own anonymous hosting. (We want the gifts to be a surprise!)
11) All posting will be done by the moderators to keep the gifts anonymous for the month.
12) Posting will begin 01 April and extend through the month. The frequency will be based on the number of received submissions.
13) All fest creations will be exclusive to hp_april_fools until the the names of their creators have been revealed at the end of the fest. Please do not post them anywhere else until then. Afterward, feel free to share and pimp.
14) If you cannot complete your assignment, email the moderators straightaway so that we can make other arrangements.
15) Any questions or concerns can be emailed to the moderators at hp.april.fools@gmail.com . |

Welcome to the First Annual hp_april_fools Reveal and Award Show! I'll be your mod, pre_raphaelite1!
Dearly beloved, we are gathered- wait, what? Oh. Right. Sorry. Wrong show.
Ahem. Tonight we celebrate the Fool. All those who were brave and daft enough to join a festival where they had to show the world what they could or could not do. Some of our Fools showed their hidden talents; some proved their insanity. Some faltered. Some flew. Many sacrificed hours; others erasers, wigs, and string; a couple their dignity. A few went completely nuts; one almost set her house on fire. But all are wieners winners here tonight.
We have many categories of awards here at hp_april_fools, but the pinnacle, the top of each category ears the most coveted of all Fandom, and perhaps the world: the revered Golden Squid.

Yes, that's you!
Are you ready? Because the time is here! (Yes, that time is Pacific Standard foolishness.) The first post of hp_april_fools will be up in only a few short moments!
We have such a variety of creations and talent to come for this month, I for one am very impressed!
A few reminders before I post though:
--- Your gift is to remain anonymous until the final reveal at the end of the month, so please do not identify yourself as the creator of whatever foolishness has been posted. (Anon responses to comments are acceptable as is waiting until after the reveal to respond.)
--- All entries will be tagged, and the tag page is accessible via the menu at the top of the asylum page or HERE.
--- The point of this fest was to have Brave and Silly people do things that they didn't know how to do or were not comfortable with doing and showing. As such, BE NICE. *threatens with modly paddle*
--- Any flaming or trolling with be deleted and banned. We only allow lovely fools- not complete idiots. ;)
Most importantly though- HAVE fun! Laugh, clap, whistle, giggle, wank, squee, point, share, rec, love.
And finally, we might have need of one pinch-hitter. Any volunteers? |

Hello lovely fools! This is a friendly reminder from your paddle-carrying mods, that your creations for hp_april_fools is due in our inbox by 21 March. That's just over two weeks from today.
Everyone must use the requested Header Code at the top of your Word document.
You also must complete all necessary html coding yourself. The exception for this is if you need image hosting, in which case we will put in the url for you.
We are happy to provide image hosting for you. Simply attach your image(s) to your email and we shall upload them and insert the necessary url.
We are already getting some of your creations and they are FANTASTIC! This is quite exciting.
Edit: We will be posting 1-2 gifts every day in April. Remember that these are anonymous and the property of hp_april_fools until the fest is over, so don't reveal/repost your creations until after the Big Reveal. |
