Summary: Harry Potter is on a mission. Find Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy, but ends up getting a big surprise when he does find them.

previous chaptersThe dwelling was quiet and seemingly occupant free. For a minute, Harry actually considered that his sources were wrong. That Severus Snape was not anywhere near here, that he had somehow slipped away once again, foiling Harry’s plans for revenge, but he knew all too well that appearances can be deceiving. It was best to explore each and every corner of the place before calling it a lost cause. Snape had to be here. His mission depended on it. Before he could finish searching out the horcruxes…he had to destroy the agents that had destroyed Hogwarts by crushing it’s heart. He had to find Snape and Malfoy and bring to them both to some kind of justice.
Draco. Malfoy. How he had fooled Harry into thinking that he had cared for him…deceiving Harry into giving him the most important part of himself. The selfish prat had made Harry believe that he had loved him and then just ripped out his heart by not just taking his virginity, but taking his mentor from him as well. How could Harry forgive that? How could he still love such a miserable, low down…scumbag as Malfoy? That was the question he was asking himself now, because even after all that Malfoy had done…even after that one perfect night that had ended in tears and recriminations….Harry still loved him. Merlin, he had tried not to. He had tried banishing the blonde Slytherin from his heart…but he couldn’t. Malfoy was all he thought about during the day, all he dreamed about during the night. He was all that Harry wanted. All that Harry couldn’t have, and it was bloody tearing him apart!
Ever since the night Draco left him, Harry had been cursing himself for playing the fool and had tried to move on, even attempting a relationship with Ginny Weasley. But that hadn’t worked and neither had his other attempts at putting the affair with Malfoy behind him. He’d lay awake at nights, thinking of their one time together. He’d imagine those hands sliding over his skin, causing prickling goose flesh to appear. He’d think of how those hands had been so gentle and so loving, then remember that it was those hands that had caused the death of his mentor.
Harry angrily wiped the tears away. He didn’t have time for an emotional breakdown right now. He had much more urgent business to attend to. Finding Snape and making him pay for what he had done. Taking a deep breath, he pointed his wand and whispered a spell that would detect wards and defenses around the perimeter. He frowned as he noticed that there were quite a few. If that wasn’t proof that Snape was inside that shack, nothing was.
With wand at the ready, he made his way down to the seemly unoccupied cottage, disarming wards as he went. He was surprised at how easily it was to disengage them. The wards Snape had put up were ones that Harry could have disarmed when he was in his second year. It was almost like Snape wanted to be caught, which was ludicrous. Why would Snape want to be punished for his betrayal. It would take someone with a soul and conscious to feel regret and Harry was certain that his former potions professor had neither of those things.
Reaching the house, and all the wards and spells deactivated, Harry crunched down under the window looking into a large room lit by a fire. It would not do to be discovered just yet. Feeling a thrill run through him, Harry closed his eyes and imagined what the coming confrontation would be like. Would he make some big, sweeping speech reminding Snape of his crimes? Will the potions master beg for his life? Would Dra…np…Malfoy be with him, regretting his part in Dumbledore’s death? One thing he felt for sure was that revenge would be had. Either by Azkaban or his own wand. It’d be his first victory in this war against Voldemort…
His hand tightened on his wand, ready to go in there and deal with Snape when Malfoy walked into the room, unaware of Harry’s presence so far. Harry froze and just watched, his muscles unable to move as he spied his former lover. Draco Malfoy was just as beautiful as he had been the last time Harry had seen him. His silver hair was now shoulder length and fell in soft waves against his shoulders. It glowed in the firelight, giving the man inside an almost angelic appearance. He was dressed in white, that hid most of his body. Unfortunately, it looked like Draco…no Malfoy…only Malfoy…had gained weight. His face was fuller and his stomach was slightly swollen. Harry wouldn’t have even noticed that beneath the loose fitting shirt if it weren’t for the slender hand placed against Malfoy’s normally flat abdomen. He supposed life on the run was good for the appetite. He hoped that Malfoy did have a good meal…because it was to be his last. If it hadn’t been for him…the death eaters would never have gotten into Hogwarts…and Dumbledore wouldn’t have died. He was just as guilty as Snape. He didn’t care that his heart still ached to see Malfoy, who was now lounging in a chair, reading a muggle magazine with a baby gracing the cover. If only he didn’t have the urge to pull the blond into his arms and never let him go again. Oh he was still angry with Malfoy….but he still loved him too. Unlike the Slytherin, he couldn’t just turn his emotions on and off like a muggle light switch. He couldn’t make his feelings disappear…but he can ignore them in order to do what needed to be done. Avenge the death of his mentor. Make the people responsible pay, and unfortunately, one of those people was Malfoy.
“Seen enough, Potter?”
Harry froze, cursing himself for letting Malfoy’s appearance distract him. Now Snape had the upper hand. It should be him taking the dark professor by surprise and holding him at wand point. Right now, it should be him holding the wand, ready to deal out punishment. Instead, Snape had his wand trained on Harry, ready to perform whatever curse was at his disposal.
“Snape,” the name came out as a snarl as Harry aimed his own wand, determined to enact his revenge. Nothing was going to stop him from avenging Dumbledore. Even if he ended up dying himself. “You didn’t think I’d stop looking, did you? Surely you didn’t think I’d let you get away with your betrayal. And look, two birds with one stone. You and Malfoy.”
“I didn’t think about you at all, Potter. I’ve had no reason to,” Snape glared at his former student, still angry over his godson’s condition. If it hadn’t been for this arrogant, whiny, attention seeking brat, protecting Draco would have been easier. Now not only did he have Draco to worry about, but the spawn the boy carried as well and here was the father, just as arrogant as the Potter before him, trying to deal out his version of what he called justice. “Really, Potter. I have no time for your juvenile show of heroism. There are forces at work here that you have no…”
“I’m not interested in whatever grand speech you’re about to make, Snape. It’s over. Dumbledore made the mistake of listening to your side. Well I’m not Dumbledore and it’s time you and Malfoy pay for betraying his trust.”
Snape sighed. All he had wanted to do this evening was finish Draco’s potions, choose a new, more secure hideout, and maybe finish the day with a calming draught and a dreamless sleep so he could get some rest for the coming evening. But no. Instead he was here, hampering an intrusion attempt by this…child…that the wizarding world had mistaken for it’s savior. It more than irritated him. It made him furious enough to cast a curse.
“Stupefy!”
Harry fell back as he was hit with the spell, knocking him back against the wall beneath the window and knocking him unconscious. He didn’t even see Draco race out of the cottage, startled by the loud voices outside.
“What is going on out here? I heard…” He left off when he saw Harry and his heart ached with fear and concern. “Merlin, what did you do to him?!” He rushed to Harry’s side checking for a pulse.
“Found him spying on you from the window,” Snape waved his wand, causing ropes to appear around the unconscious wizard. “Don’t worry. He’ll be fine. He’ll have a bit of a headache when he wakes up, but that’s it.”
Draco sighed as he watched his Godfather levitate Harry into the shack and into Draco’s room. “Why are you bringing him in here?”
“Because I have to finish your potion and he needs to be guarded. Besides, there is no way Potter will have my room,” Snape growled, lowering Harry onto the barely soft mattress. Draco tried not to stare at Harry…he tried to keep his emotions at bay…
After all this time, he still loved Harry…Potter…a part of him hoped that there was a chance of reconciliation, but a bigger part of him was a realist. By now, Harry knew that he was the one to let the death eaters into Hogwarts. By now he would know that it was Draco that was indirectly responsible for Dumbledore’s death. In Harry’s eyes, he was just as guilty as Snape. The only thing that could possibly save him…may not even be enough to gain Harry’s forgiveness and love. Any chance he had with Harry was gone.
“You’re going to leave me alone with him?!”
“Of course. I’m sure you two have a lot to talk about,” Snape looked at Draco, not hiding his disgust. “Maybe you can save your own life Draco. You are carrying his child…”
“But that doesn’t mean anything! Snape, please…I can’t…I can’t be alone with him. I…”
“There will be no argument here Draco. Potter is our prisoner now and you will guard him until the potion is done. Tell him, don’t tell him…it’s no matter to me. Just make sure he doesn’t get free and keep his wand out of his reach,” Snape handed the thin stick to Draco, who gripped it with trembling fingers. “I’m sure that you can do that much.”
The blond bowed his head and nodded, knowing that there was no use arguing with the professor. Snape had done so much to ensure the safety of himself and his child…he really didn’t have the heart to disobey now. “I’ll do what you say…”
“Good. I will see you both in a few hours. Do try not to snivel all over the covers,” Snape swept from the room, his robes bellowing from behind him.
Draco closed the door behind him, cursing the circumstances. He had not expected to see Harry again…at least not this soon. He had hoped that more time would have passed…that Harry had time to forgive him…but there had been no time. Harry had found him and now…now there was no choice but to have the confrontation that Draco had been dreading for the past several weeks.
