Notes: This story is a birthday present to </a></b></a>fienchen who wears her tinhat tall and proud. She wanted a abused Elijah who is saved by Dom. So here it is.

1: Escape
Spitting out blood, Elijah lifted himself off the floor, trying to stop the shivers that ran shot through his body. He cried out and almost collapsed again as a broken rib jabbed at his insides, making it rather painful to breath. The pain was excruciating, causing him to just want to remain still, not moving an inch. Just sleep and drift off into the false safety of dreams…yet he didn’t dare do that. To give into the urge to sleep meant never escaping from the hell his life had become. It meant remaining Kevin’s punching bag and that definitely wasn’t an option. To stay with Kevin…well he might as well crash his own head into the nearest wall repeatedly, because that would be all he had to look forward to for the rest of his fucking awful life. No. He couldn’t stay. He had to leave, get away while he could…while Kevin was out getting drunk out of his fucking mind…before he came back to inflict more damage onto Elijah’s already broken body.
Gritting his teeth against the pain, Elijah forced himself onto his feet. He made his trembling legs move, one right in front of the other. Only one thought was running through his mind, repeating itself, becoming his mantra. Get away. I have to get away. I’ll die if I don’t.
Voices startled Elijah out of his inner chant. Wide eyes stared into the empty living room, where the TV was blasting. A talk show was on. The Late Late Show. It was filmed right there in town and Elijah had been on there only once…right before he had met Kevin. After Kevin, there had been no more talk shows. No more anything really. Elijah had been forced to give up his Hollywood life style. Kevin had made it all too clear that Elijah was to have no contact with anyone from his past. Especially the fellowship. A tear slid down his bruised cheeks as he thought of how he had cut off all contact from his friends without an explanation. All attempts of communication had gone ignored. He knew that they must have been hurt…especially his fellow hobbits. They had been a tight knit group once, but that had been before he and Dom. That had been before the break up and then Kevin. Now they all knew that he had deserted them.
Tonight, they had a special guest…someone Elijah knew well…someone who had been such a big and important part of his former life. Dominic Monaghan. His former lover and best friend. They were talking about a show that Elijah had seen only a few times. Kevin had made him stop when he found out that Dom was a member of the cast. Elijah remembered the swell of pride he had felt for Dom. At last, the young Brit was making a name for himself outside of the movies. He was only sad because he couldn’t take part in congratulating Dom over his recent success. He hoped Billy and the others kept in touch…that Dom wasn’t totally cut off from the fellowship like he was.
“So tell us Dominic, what’s in that hatch?” The host asked, leaning back in his chair, studying the handsome Brit with feigned interest. Elijah was almost positive that the man had never seen a moment of Lost.
Dom laughed, scooting back in his chair, as always, oblivious to the signs of disinterest the host was showing. That was Dom all right. He paid no attention to the negative, only the positive. He winced, remembering Dom’s argument on why they should have stayed together.
“You love me and I love you. Fuck the suits, Lij. We’ll make it. We always do. What can they
do? Fire us? We love each other, baby. We should be together.”
Elijah closed his eyes, shutting the door on the memory. If only he had listened to Dom…if only he hadn’t insisted on breaking off the relationship out of fear for a career that had never happened…he would never have met Kevin. He wouldn’t have to make a great escape, barely able to stand on his feet. Watching Dom, he wished to turn back the clock.
Feeling more nauseated by the minute, Elijah continued on his path to the front door. Time was running out and he had to get out now. There was no time to watch Dominic talk about his hit show. There was no time for anything, not even to wonder where he was going to go. Not to his family. That was the first place Kevin would look, and if he found him there…he’d hurt his sister and mother. He had made that known, loud and clear to Elijah during their second big argument. He no longer had any friends that could help him. The fellowship probably thought him dead…besides, they all had other duties and responsibilities. Not to mention, Elijah didn’t really know where they lived anymore. Billy had flown back to Scotland the last Elijah heard. Orli was traveling the country, promoting his new film. Sean had probably moved into a quieter neighborhood, Elijah wouldn’t know where since it’s been two years since he spoke to his former costar. Viggo too was off promoting a new movie and Peter was on location somewhere, making a big movie about a big ape. Then there was Dom…who lived in Hawaii…but was in town being interviewed right that minute. Dom. Dom was in town and just Elijah’s luck, he knew the hotel that he was staying in.
Dominic would help him…he’d get him somewhere safe…somewhere that Kevin would never think to look. If he wasn’t willing…Elijah was pretty sure that he could convince him somehow. After all, they had been lovers and Dom had always had a weak spot for Elijah, even after the breakup. He wouldn’t turn him away. The hotel was across town, but Elijah was positive that he could make it. Nothing was going to stop him from reaching Dom. Nothing.
