WHO: Daphne Greengrass & Amycus Carrow
WHAT: A random encounter turns into something deadly.
WHERE: Knockturn Alley.
WHEN: Late afternoon.
RATING: TBD.
Daphne didn't understand why she couldn't just send a house elf to pick what her father ordered from Borgin & Burkes. Daphne had more important things to do than to run errands for her father, and no matter how much she protested, he remained firm on his decision to send her. Huffing like a child being forced to eat her vegetables, Daphne glared harshly at her father before finally submitting to his request. It's been ages since she actually left the estate, and she really didn't want to start leaving it now. Perhaps that was why he insisted she go out to pick up his order. Daphne wasn't opposed to becoming a complete and utter recluse, those that she cared to visit with came to see her. She was allowed to do as she pleased in the comfort of her own home. Having to actually venture outside meant leaving her open for whatever lurked out there, she was much happier and safer at home. Why couldn't her father understand that?
With strict instructions from her father, Daphne sighed disdainfully and stepped outside. Wincing against the sharp winter air, she could feel her cheeks stinging against the breeze. Stepping forward with determination, Daphne vanished from the steps of the Greengrass Estate, only to reappear at the entrance to Knockturn Alley. Tugging the collar of her black coat tighter around her neck, Daphne weaved her way through the tight alley, side-stepping shady looking wizards and witches attempting to sell her human fingernails and other vendor items.
Borgin & Burkes loomed up ahead, and she was relieved to find the shop relatively empty. Ducking into the shoppe, Daphne was greeted with various dark magic items. She completely ignored them, and made a bee-line for the counter. An oily, pretentious looking man was sitting behind the counter thumbing through a stack of papers. When the sound of Daphne's heels stopped in front of the counter, the man looked up from the paper.
"Miss Greengrass! What a pleasant surprise. You're father said he was going to send you. I wasn't sure if he was just lying." Daphne arched a brow at Mr. Borgin, but remained quiet. She wasn't happy to be there and her face said it all. The cold stare she gave to the man behind the counter made him uneasy, especially since she didn't even acknowledge him. "Your father's package is in the back. I think I know where it is," He continued on, placing the papers in a pile on the counter and rising from his seat. "I'll just be a moment." Daphne nodded and watched him retreat to the back before she began to look around the store.
Her attention was immediately drawn to a human head in a jar. Leaning down to be at eye level with the shelf it rested on, Daphne tapped the glass of the jar lightly. Instantly, the eyes flashed opened and stared at Daphne. Tilting her head to the side, Daphne pulled her hand back as the eyes of the head in the jar followed her motions. This store made her uncomfortable, and the fact that she was being forced to be there made it even worse.
