Who: Adam Parish & Open
What: AC's first visit to the Market
When: September 23rd, afternoon
Where: The Market
Status: Incomplete and Open
Life on the Isle was far from pleasant. Oh there were a few bright spots to be sure; chiefly being reunited with his twin, and making a few new friends too. However beyond those things Adam had felt on edge, if not down right afraid, far more often then not since arriving here. With his old life, and family, seemingly forever out of reach Parish had turned his attention towards things far less depressing. Namely throwing himself head first into his work at the Base's kitchen. Cooking had always been a passion for the chef, and here in hell it was a way for him to escape for a bit too. Not escaping the walls and guards, yet letting such things drift from his mind as AC turned all his attention into whatever task was at hand. After a few weeks on the job Adam had already been left to his own devices for the most part; left to plan, prep, and take over the menus and meals.
So for endless hours everyday the young man worked and toiled in the kitchen. Earnestly glad for the bit of sanctuary that the job detail provided. Even the beatings and verbal abuse from the majority of the guards had come to a halt when it became known that AC was the one turning their usually bland meal times into something far more palatable too. Oh Parish still kept to himself, and avoided provoking any of the armed individuals to avoid setting them off. Yet life had grown a tad easier since most of the terrifying soldiers seemed to avoid going out of their way to break the golden goose that kept serving up gourmet quality dishes. After finishing up meal prep for the lunch rush, and sorting out the inventory list for the upcoming week as well, the young chef found himself having a bit of real downtime. He had heard a few of the other kitchen staff talk about the Market and so, after double checking his check list for the day, AC decided it was time to head out to see just what the Market had to offer.
He had no clue what to expect, nor any idea how the goods were traded either. Still instead of going empty handed Adam took a little time to whip up a couple dozen fresh apple and cherry turnovers to bring along, from the left over filling from the pies he had made for the soldiers lunch time dessert. It was after a bit of consideration and thought that Adam hastily wrote a note and pinned it to his basket. A quick note that offered up a warning to any who might be interested in trading for a few of the delicious baked treats.
'Warning: Baked goods might cause consumers to heal rapidly, remove afflictions, and cure diseases. Eat at your own risk. PS. They are a bit hot too so chew carefully. ~AC'
