The Beneficence of Beer (tag: Loki) [20 Jul 2014|03:59pm]

hlorridi
This was a bad idea.

He'd been repeating that to himself for the last week, since he'd made the decision. This was a really bad idea. There was an ache in his gut that told him that. There was a buzzing in his head that confirmed it. And there was an overwhelming sense of dread for what he was about to do.

This was a REALLY bad idea. )

Revenge vs. Vengeance (tag: Hermod) [20 Jul 2014|02:14pm]

sigyn
It had been a couple months since Sigyn had opened the door to find Frigg on her porch. The gift that had been left on her steps had been kicked aside and would have been left to rot in the rain had she not known that it would have prompted questions from Loki. Questions she didn't want to answer. So she'd thrown the thing way, whatever it was, and had only told Loki that Frigg had contacted her to say she was sorry. She didn't tell him that she'd shown up at their home. Or about Frigg's parting words. But Sigyn could not forget them. )

Just Because (tag: Loki) [14 Jul 2014|01:11pm]

idhunna
There wasn't any reason for Idun to be here. Yes, she brought apple wine, but that was nothing more than an excuse. The truth was far simpler; she missed Loki. For as long as she could remember knowing him, she'd adored him. She had heard about him, of course, all the women talked about him. It was never like that between them. Maybe because she was so devoted to Bragi, or maybe because their ages were far enough apart, or maybe it was just the way they clicked. Whatever the reason, he was a dear friend and a chosen member of her family.

To her mind she'd not seen her friend nearly enough since he'd left the cave. She was busy, he was busy, it was how life went. Today it seemed she had a lttle time on her hands, and the man she thought of as her big brother popped into her head. Which was often how it went with Idun. She got an idea, and acted on it, rarely thinking it through. Sometimes that had consequences, prices she had to pay for per impulsiveness.

Today that was unlikely. She'd pop over to Loki and Sigyn's and see if he was around. If only Sigyn was there, she'd have a nice chat, leave the wine, and Loki's wife would tell him she stopped by. If no one was there, she was out a short trip. No big deal.

The bag of wine bottles (canvas bags with dividers for wine were an ingenious invention!) in her hand, Idun rang the bell.

Twighlight Tea (tag: Re) [13 Jul 2014|11:01am]

walx_in_beauty
Family life had a tendency to keep Nyx overly busy. Though she wouldn't trade it for a second for a more peaceful and sedate existence. Her children were the most important things in her life, excepting Erebos, and she knew that her husband felt as she did. As intimately tied to one another as they were, their offspring were the embodiment of that and as such they took precedence over almost everything.

Unfortunately, this meant that Nyx had little time for friendships )

Fun with Duct Tape (tag: Ninkasi) [22 Jun 2014|12:49pm]

zagreus
Days flowed like water: swirling, twirling, fluid eddies of time that did not follow a rigid, straight line. Dionysus floated along on the current, letting life take him where it may, enjoying the moments as he lived them. After having an adventure with his Daddy-mommy, there had been something with a theater troupe in Minnesota that involved a lot of chiffon. Following that-- or was it between?-- there was something with an artist and a blow torch, and Dio semi-firmly recalled marshmallows. At some point, he'd had fun with one of darling Love's little babies, sharing in some wonderfully destructive behavior. And he was pretty certain that he'd been to wedding. That had been a wedding hadn't it? It felt like a wedding. )

Doing What Feels Right [tag: Philotes] [19 Jun 2014|10:01pm]

ophios_harmonia
It broke her heart when she saw the news of the destruction. Perhaps it was because even over a month later she was still a bit emotionally raw. Not having succeeded in disabling the necklace from doing damage to anyone else was hard on her heart, but harder on it was knowing that she had a constant battle with herself as far what she should keep between herself and Hera to ensure success and what she should tell Tyr to keep him from worrying too much. Not to mention she still had to find a chance to talk to Lottie about everything. It was a conversation that was not going to be pretty.

And she needed to get Bubbles back at some point. Except that was secondary to the current problem. The current problem was that there were people suffering. )

Shuck Away, Baby, and Start Slurpin' [tag: Open] [31 May 2014|01:37pm]

fierceprotector
Generally speaking, Taweret left New Orleans and the place Bes kept there to himself. Generally speaking. She trusted that he didn't get up to any funny business that was going to require her to hit him with a foam pool noodle -and she had one –even bought a second one now that she wrote Loki's name one for when he was getting out of line. She trusted that that when debauchery came to the French Quarter, which it did, that the only thing straying were his eyes. He was married, not dead, and she certainly didn't keep from appreciating a nice firm male buttocks that wandered by. It was the lack of acting on those glances that she expected. )

Admissions (tag: Aphrodite) [27 May 2014|08:28pm]

hera_teleia
Hera rarely avoided issues when they cropped up. She’d found delaying the moment when she had to face the problem never made said problem better, but rather usually led to further trouble. It was best to take care of something, unless there was a strategic reason to give pause that would benefit her in the end. But that had happened only a few times in her very long life, and those instances were such that she had simply had to wait for a more opportune moment to tackle the issue head-on, rather than outright avoidance.

But this was different. )

Spring Reading (tag: Hedylogos) [24 May 2014|10:37pm]

best_skald_ever
Bragi was, and always had been, a bit of a roamer. There was so much to see, experience and record, that it was hard for him to sit still for long. He'd slowed down once he'd married Idun, however he'd been unable to stop. It was a mark of her perfection that his wife was understanding and generous enough to let him continue his wandering ways. His habits had shifted a bit after The Thing with that Greek goddess though. He'd been staying closer to home, and far closer to Idun. In truth, he may have grown a bit clingy. )

DIY Disaster (Open) [18 May 2014|12:41am]

loveavenger
Anteros surveyed his apartment. It had definitely seen better days, but now that his run of bad luck was over, he could finally do something about it. His first instinct had been to hire a professional to remodel and redecorate, but then he had gotten caught up in watching marathons of House Crashers, Room Crashers, Bath Crashers, and Kitchen Crashers. He had even watched some Yard Crashers and Desperate Landscapes, but he didn't have a front or back yard to worry about.

The more he watched HGTV and DIY, the more Anteros felt like he could handle this job on his own. All he needed was tools and time, if they could redo rooms in 3 days, why couldn't he? Ok, he was realistic, knowing that it would take him far more than 3 days to get the work done, at least if he wanted it to look good. Truthfully though, he probably shouldn't have laughed at and slept through the episodes of Renovation Realities.

The first step was demolition. It always looked like so much fun when Josh Temple did it. Anteros had to admit that between the chicken and the bad luck, a lot of demolition had already been done. He probably should just clean out the damage and access how bad things were, but he really wanted to swing a sledge hammer and take out a wall. They did it all the time on TV, so it shouldn't be a problem, right?

Feminine Advice (tag: Ninkasi) [16 May 2014|05:17pm]

allatu
Ereshkigal was done for the day. It was rare that she cut her hours short, because she took her duties seriously. Even more rare on days when she knew her husband would be preoccupied elsewhere, so not available for her to crawl all over his hot, naked body. But it was precisely that reason, Nergal's absence, that had her delegating things that could be handled without her direct supervision. Because instead of watching the dead kneel before her, naked as the day they were born, Ereshkigal was planning to get bare herself. )

No Time Like the Present [tag: Sigyn] [12 May 2014|07:45pm]

asynia_frigg
There was no avoiding it any longer, really. She'd put it off far too long as it was. She'd put it off for years with the cave, then during the begging of the freedom and now... well...

Frigg wasn't sure how to go about remedying things. Odin seemed to have no problems repairing his bonds with Loki, but men would never understand how different things were. This was different. This was so many levels of different. Not only because Frigg had not been able to stop the tragedy of what happened to Sigyn's sons, but... she had never supported her friend's marriage from the beginning. Because she had been too selfish to put aside her personal issues with a man, which had nothing to do with Sigyn at all -or any other woman really, and just be happy for her having found something that so few ever did.

That... That was entirely Frigg's failing. Gift of the future-sight, and yet... nothing she ever saw would have prepared her for this. For all she knew, she always knew that there was far more that she didn't know. Such was the curse of wisdom mixed with the arrogance of selfishness. )

Best Served with Wine (tag: Hermes) [09 May 2014|06:54pm]

rosmertiae
Rosmerta sat back and admired her handiwork. It looked, if she did say so herself, wonderful. It looked just like those ransom notes on the old television shows, with all the cut out magazine letters. Totally cheesy. And she was rather proud of it.

Of course, she was rather proud of herself in general these days. )

Is It Too Late For I'm Sorry? [tag: Tyr] [05 May 2014|02:52pm]

ophios_harmonia
Harmonia did not go directly home after parting company with her grandmother. It may not have been the most pleasing thing for Hera to hear, but at the same time, there was no way for her to know how well Balance was hiding the sheer amount of aches and pains her body was sustaining. It was a minor diversion and she was quite determined it was going to be a short one. None of those attendants or nurses or whatever he kept were going to check her in for a say.

No. Just.. no. But, Harmonia would have been a complete moron to think she was able to assess everything entirely on her own for proper treatment. Epidarus was the place to go. )

Heavy-hearted (tag: Odin) [05 May 2014|11:52am]

hlorridi
His head was throbbing in a very unpleasant way )

Huzzah! (tag: Zeus) [30 Apr 2014|12:36pm]

zagreus
There were days when Dionysus felt remarkably normal. Things around him were calm, rational, and ran smoothly. His brain did not flare off into wild tangents that led him down rabbit holes or into abbattoirs of horror. He could simply sit and think pleasant, normal thoughts, while doing nothing out of the ordinary at all. It was incredibly boring.

Fortunately, this was not one of those days. )

We Should Talk (tag: Philotes) [28 Apr 2014|01:01am]

silentvengence
Vidar was kicking himself. He had spent too long in Asgard and hadn’t called on his girlfriend. He hadn’t meant to stay home for as long as he had. Things just kept coming up. There was the family and the issue that had sprung up in his Hall. He would bet that she was extremely pissed off at him. If she wasn’t, then he had been more invested in their relationship than she was.

Futility [tag: Hera] [24 Apr 2014|08:41pm]

ophios_harmonia
OOC: After this.

She was biting tears back as hard as she could. Harmonia's first stop was not home, nor Lottie's -where she did occasionally stay from time to time, but the modest little temple she had on Olympus near her father's. She rarely went there so it seemed unlikely that Philotes would go there first once it was noticed that she left Anteros' without further explanation. She didn't do much other than give an extremely vague and brief explanation, via text so he didn't hear tears in her voice and demand further explanation or panic more than he probably already was, to Tyr that she was going to be mostly off radar for awhile but would check in with him here or there. Well, and pack a modest bag with a very minimal amount of necessities -she could purchase most anything else if she needed it. And the less she lingered the less likely it was that Philotes or someone else was going to want to tag along and help... and risk getting hurt in the process...

And Harmonia could not risk someone else getting hurt because of her. She stopped at her father's armory and did lift a few things that he would definitely know were missing, but, she didn't know what she could run into -anywhere, and wanted to be prepared. He'd understand. He was the one that made sure she knew how to use it all anyway. )

Idle Hands [tag: Tyr] [30 Mar 2014|01:42pm]

bathesinblood
Boredom never suited Enyo. There was a rather dreadful and yet apropos phrase among mortals about how idle hands were the devil's playthings. Well, she didn't believe in the existence in any sort of devil of the likes they did, but it did sort of spark her less than desirable creative traits. Where her siblings were, was anyone's guess. Ares was likely ankle deep in sand, as per usual, and Eris just sort of flitted about like a downy feather on the windy. Enyo would see them both again when it suited them as she had no desire to exfoliate in the desert at the moment or go Geo-cacheing for Discord. So, she had to find her own entertainment.

It did not escape her memory that she did not have the war she wanted and to an extent, deserved. She had put a lot of thought into that, Ares had been so ready to help and Eris had shown them how easy the bait was because Hybris had been holding it. But... it never happened. That was disappointing, if nothing else. Not to mention the lack of Zeus being able to either kill or strike Odin or Thor down a few pegs of arrogance. What was becoming of the Greek Pantheon that they were not able to put a few Nords in their place?

It didn't sit well at all. It was also giving her a nasty case of cabin fever. )

Under Lock And Key (Open) [20 Mar 2014|03:20pm]

harbard
Odin needed a cup of coffee. And a good piss. But the toilet in the corner was almost too far away right now. More than all of those things, he needed a hot shower. The stink coming off of him was offending himself. It was no wonder they'd thought what they thought of him. A couple Tylenol and a jug of water would also go a long way toward righting the old god.

He tipped his head to peer through the bars, groaning at the pain that shot through his head. When had humankind come to this point? There was also no denying it was his own fault he was still here. He could easily remove himself, but his current hangover made him cringe inwardly at the idea. Any effort was too much at the moment. But it was easier to blame the mortals for forgetting what he'd tried to teach them.

What had happened to the days of common decency and hospitality? Men forgot to care for each other. To fear who they might offend if they refused entrance to a humble man in need of refuge and sustenance. Gone apparently were the days when people believed it really might be a god at the door. So what if it wasn't? Didn't any person in need deserve kindness?

Not any more. )
