Twighlight Tea (tag: Re)
Family life had a tendency to keep Nyx overly busy. Though she wouldn't trade it for a second for a more peaceful and sedate existence. Her children were the most important things in her life, excepting Erebos, and she knew that her husband felt as she did. As intimately tied to one another as they were, their offspring were the embodiment of that and as such they took precedence over almost everything.
Unfortunately, this meant that Nyx had little time for friendships, since most did not understand her utter devotion to her kin and clan. Months, years, decades could pass without a word from her, centuries between visits on occasion. It was not that Night didn't want friends, it was just hard to find those that were willing to be squeezed in between all the birthdays, anniversaries, triumphs and defeats that affected her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What little extra time she had, she usually devoted to her husband.
Luckily, Nyx had one friend that was more than patient with her odd schedule. And because of that, she'd maintained their friendship as it had begun: Re was her penpal. Through frequent letters, sometimes only a paragraph long, sometimes pages upon pages, Nyx poured out the goings on in her life. Despite the inventions of the typewriter, computer, internet and smartphone, she still wrote out her letters long-hand, and sent them off regularly. However, though her letters were frequent, her visits were not.
So it was with a good deal of pleasure that Nyx found herself to have a bit of free time at exactly the right time of day to pop in to see her oldest friend. Their schedules conflicted, so dawn and dusk were the only times that she could be certain that she wouldn't be disturbing him. But she knew where she'd find him. It was where she always found him.
With a small package in hand, Nyx stepped through Concept in to the heat of Cairo's climate. It was always a shock after the coolness of her own Underworld home. Nyx took a moment to adjust, then started up the stairs of Re's front porch, a wide smile on her face.
