Explanation time!

Come January 30th, a few new characters will be arriving into the realm unless I don't hear back from them by that date.

I have had to reject a lot of the applications submitted because of the imbalance between Niflheim and Asgard, however, so those who don't see their characters here - I apologize.
The new characters areeee....!

For Niflheim:

If any of you know anyone who might be interested in writing a definite 'bad guy' for Niflheim, could you bring it up with them? We're in sore need of another Niflheimer or two.

There's also a few character removals that I failed to announce a month or two ago:
Sia's characters: Shinji Mimura (bakuhatsushinji) and Souji Okita (taichouokita) - are to be removed from your lists due to inactivity.

Monkey's characters: Gin Ichimura (kisama) and Dr. Cox (coxtastic) - are also to be removed from your lists due to inactivity.

There is going to be a rule update soon involving selfcest (that is, too much interaction/focus on one's own characters between themselves), i'm simply trying to figure out how to phrase it.

I thought everyone should get an advanced notice about it before I put it up, though. <3

EDIT: There is also going to be another rule update on suicide, because that reaches a degree of content that I do not want to encourage in CU - it won't be impossible to achieve, such as Sal having gained permission from me a long time ago to do so (yes, it requires permission because of how very dark that content is) - but I take that extremely seriously and I do not welcome characters taking such drastic actions and ruining the game for players and the characters who might've cared for the character.

It's another aspect of the balance between dark and light content that I am still working hard to keep/maintain/fix as we go.

Also, players are ALWAYS welcome to talk to me about the rules. If you want to respectfully discuss something about them, I truly don't mind. I will always consider suggestions on changes, alterations, removals or additions to the rules.

If you think there should be a rule that isn't there, or want to discuss a possible change, please, go ahead!

A new NPC will be debuting today - it's boughtnsold. I won't share much information about her, so that the characters can explore her better. As a note - she has a history tied both to Metatron and Lucifer, and is mostly present to allow for extra plot twists and all.

She is a neutral character with slightly chaotic tendencies and she's a demon despite her neutrality. She'll be setting up a shop in Emptiness, but it isn't ready yet and won't be for at least another month. <3

Also, I apologize for any delays with my threads - i've been working on some school projects, but i'm not on a hiatus. Just busy. D=

A few important notes:
The same rules apply for this NPC as stated in the rules for Metatron and Lucifer, with two exceptions. Sydonai is not meant to be a character as...interactive as Metatron and Lucifer, and she isn't as powerful nor does she carry the same authority as either of them. She is, however, very immune to anything characters might try on her. =3

For those who are somewhat newer to the game, and for those who never fully understood or may have questions, I thought i'd mention a few basic things about Emptiness, closets, and kitchens. Aside from that i'll add a little note about character information that everyone should read.

Long story short - remember Emptiness isn't in shambles, kitchens provide the food you want, closets provide the clothes one needs, and just 'cause a character isn't as active doesn't mean they aren't wandering around. I thought i'd clarify. <3

EDIT: PLEASE, EVERYONE, DO NOT CONTINUE EVENTS PAST PIRATE WEEK UNTIL THIS IS DISCUSSED WITH MOST PLAYERS. I know that it doesn't end until a few days from now, but I want to make SURE that most players have the choice to talk to me about what's contained here, as it will probably affect the future passing of time in CU.

If you guys have any ideas on how to possibly improve CU, let me know in the suggestion box. But also, I want to make a note for everyone~!

After the Blythe kidnapping thread events, I wanted to note that players may request that the days slow down more noticeably. My intention was to keep time loose in this game so that players could decide when to speed up or slow down themselves, but this isn't turning out too well. During plot-heavy events, whether characters are involved or not, i'm willing to have time go more slowly to ensure that things get worked on without forcing things too far ahead.

As an example, if we're undergoing a particularly plot-heavy period of time in CU, I AM willing to slow things down. If people need an actual representation of time being slowed so that people follow this better, we can do something where each day becomes one third of a day - and characters are not to go too far ahead. Time would still be loose, and characters could post things that go on early, noonish or late in the day regardless of which day it was, but people wouldn't really be welcomed to move ahead of that particular day yet.

I don't think the game is very friendly towards very involved threads right now, and I'm willing to think of ways to alter this somewhat with all of you. If you have any ideas, share them, and we can think about them. =3

Just to let everyone know, there's now a character template to use for character information on the CU Wiki. I'd really, really appreciate it if people used this template more often. Simply sharing the application doesn't give as much information as following the template will - and it is a wiki, isn't it? It might be more fun to learn more about characters.

There is also information on the trials on the CU Wiki as well. I don't think there's any new information except a tiny bit, but it's better organized than the page of information on the trials here.

Also, for those who haven't confirmed for their characters to be involved in the trial yet - please do so soon!

In case some people don't confirm, though - is anyone willing to have their Niflheimer be part of the representative list as an 'understudy' of sorts?

From now until Metatron and Lucifer's official return to their respective headquarters in a few days, characters will be able to hear mysterious, occasional shrieks that echo hauntingly throughout the realm.

The real reason behind it, which no character will know (though those who can sense things and get visions, like Blythe, may get occasional images of a creature being formed, struggling into existence, but not from a womb... ) is that Sphinx, a character for the trial of the mind, is currently being created by Metatron and Lucifer.

These sounds may sound like a variety of things to people, but the closest way to describe the noises are like haunting bird shrieks that make you want to glance over your shoulder just to make sure there aren't any monsters behind you. Characters can liken the sounds to other things, I just thought it might help if I tried to give some kind of vague description.

Extra trial information here. The representatives have been changed slightly. Originally I was going to keep the first roster and replace Will with Okita, but that won't work because of the trial dates.

Players who do not get a character in as a representative this time will eventually have a turn! Every character will take part in one of the trials at some point.

Please reply to this entry and let me know if you're okay with your character being part of the trial officially, finally now. xD If you do not want a character that's on the roster in this particular trial, let me know now or forever hold your peace? D=

The riddles will not be shared until the day Sphinxie (see the above link) shares them in an IC, ceremonial-type thread, but this is a good update. However, if players would rather I share the riddles (I won't share the answers yet) now, before the characters even know about them, then i'll consider putting them up somewhere soon. Just don't tell other people the answers if you figure it out somehow, because it might ruin the experience for them.

Sorry, sometimes the mod is a doofus, forgive me.

schroedinger has joined the game today, and he'll be given room 208 in Niflheim.

Due to the current events in the game, it is no longer possible to infiltrate Asgard if you're a member of Niflheim.

Metatron has altered his wards on the house. Any member of Niflheim who tries to enter will feel as though they are trying to walk through/spell their way through/whatever a wall. But this isn't really a big deal, because there's tons of other areas for Niflheim/Asgard interaction. But with Niflheim being as...intent on doing stuff inbetween trials...Metatron has seen it best to do this.

There will be one exception for a character that will be appearing soon because of the canon ability of that character to appear anywhere and nowhere. He'll be able to appear on the steps of Asgard and simply walk through the barrier (though he will not be able to cause harm to those inside.) But i'll announce that character tomorrow or Tuesday.

EDIT: Tristan doesn't count since he's already inside, I believe...?

I was just wondering if anyone would like to help offer me organizational suggestions as far as that goes. I might alter what you suggest a little, but I really would like any and all tidbits of aid on this, for those who are willing. =3

Alright, that "weekend break too busy to do anything but watch over you guys" took a few extra days, unfortunately. Ah, life and its many tasks~

Still, i'll be back tomorrow and start responding to any thread where it's my turn. XD If any of my characters are in an unfinished thread with you and it's not my turn, we can discuss whether or not you want to close it/discuss what happened or if you want to keep going with the thread.

Also, I believe today is Inquisitive Day, a Malfunction Day, in case anyone wanted to take part in it. If you miss out on it, feel free to backdate responses/journal posts or do a thread that takes place today later.

EDIT: Also, I want to make it clear to everyone. Asgard is a safe haven like Metatron said long ago. Unlike Niflheim that has its tough people on its own to protect it themselves, Asgard is a place that, yes, you can do no real damage inside of. Sure, an Asgardian might slap another Asgardian, but that's about it. No heavy damage - and even if you tried, Asgard would instantly fix itself and heal any wounds via Metatron's power. I haven't been able to look over threads as much as I've wanted, but it was something I always thought I'd made obvious but in retrospect may require clarification despite stuff i've said about it before. XD

The reason? Because Niflheim and Asgard are simply meant to be that - safe havens. The only thing is that Lucifer expects people to be able to fend for themselves, and Metatron tries to protect his team as best he can without making their decisions for them. There's lots of other territory outside of Niflheim and Asgard, after all...xD

I'll start off by saying that I am aware this is probably perceived differently for each and every player here. We come from different cultures, different backgrounds - sometimes tv ratings aren't even the same for us. But in CU, there is a particular rating system that i've mostly figured out.

I'll include G, PG, and PG-13 here as well. Keep note - this is just for the game, to make sure that things have a more organized rating list. Also, I welcome questions or requests for further clarification - feel free to describe a scene and ask about what ratings it might have as an example, too. I'm just having trouble thinking of good examples right now.

EDIT #2: Powers are affected by whether or not they come from the physical genetics of a character. If, say, someone gets Balam's body, because Balam is a demon currently in a human body that was created for him, they would get none of his powers, because his powers were transferred into it because of his soul. If someone gets, say, Mitch's body then because Mitch's powers come from his genetics whoever is in his body will have that power for a day. Another example would be that there is no particular implication in the game that Alice Elliot's powers come from her genetics. Things that come from the soul or the mind or whatever will go with the original owner, rather than remain in the body. Does that make sense?

Bodyswitch Day was originally going to be yesterday, but it's going to be pushed to Saturday, June 14th.

For those curious, the current list is here. Any particular, last minute requests WILL be considered, but be aware that you might not get exactly what you want. I'll try to make things pleasant for everyone, though.

I want to announce a few things for the party thread, since it was planned in advance (and talked to about with me...>=3 Thank you, Mitch-player!)

1. Metatron will provide people with the attire they desire - or their wardrobe will (as Metatron tried to build it so that what they need, it provides.)

2. This particular thread has SPECIAL PERMISSION and even if your character(s) is in two threads already, they are able to post in this thread.

3. Asgard really IS a safe haven for Asgardians. Any attempts to cause general distruction will likely result in poofs of flowers and cushions to erase any harmful situations. For example: Those who attempt to come into Asgard bearing weapons will either find themselves transported instantly back to Niflheim, or their weapons will poof IRREVERSIBLY into flowers and sparkly glitter.

No, this does not mean Jazz will die like a glam rock star, just to cover that. xD A body is different.
