Who: Kaitlyn and Gabriel
What: Taaank!!!
Where: Just outside the inn and then through downtown Everett
When: Now
Kaitlyn didn't understand what the problem was. Gabriel had been stand offish since the moment they had met but it had made sense then. He had been detained by California's juvenile detention center for two murders. One for the girl that he had loved and another for some idiot who tried to steal the five dollars he had in his pocket. In both cases, Gabriel had created a psychic link with them but their minds had been too weak and Gabriel's had been too strong. Gabriel was used to being a lone wolf because circumstances had made him that way.
But things were different now. She was his, undeniably the two of them had fallen for each other. He had reached out into the darkness and pulled her back no matter the cost to his own personal safety. And somewhere during all of that mess she had fallen for him. Rob had been like a golden retriever, a puppy to warm her up to the idea that boys weren't all awful. Rob was very special to her because of that but Rob couldn't match the deep passion and connection she felt towards Gabriel. Not that it mattered since she couldn't get in touch with Rob, Lewis or Anna anymore. They were too far to be reached telepathically and Gabriel had refused to return to the island where they had last seen them. And that had been over a year ago.
The inn was different. The people that lived there were different. Azazeal was the one that Kaitlyn trusted the most, was a fallen angel. Kaitlyn's father had never taken her to church and she didn't know much about theology but she had some idea that a fallen angel was supposed to be a bad thing. But a psychic vampire was supposed to be a bad thing too and she had fallen in love with one of those. Things weren't always as black and white as they seemed. Azazeal's son was a witch who was working on helping them protect themselves from Jackal Mac. Then there was Claire, the durable sweet one who made pizza and always had a smile. She was so tiny but so strong. Kaitlyn still didn't completely understand everything about her but she figured she would get around to asking one day. You know, if Gabriel would stop nagging her to leave.
They were taking a walk when they heard The Tank approach. They locked eyes as the ground beneath them began to shake and a strange roaring sound echoed through the buildings. Kaitlyn's heart skipped a beat. She had a handgun with her and Gabriel, who was a weapon all of his own but she wasn't prepared to fight a T Rex.
And that's what it was. When it finally came into view, her and Gabriel just stared at it shocked. It was enormous, at least twice as tall as they were and four times as large. Right before their eyes the monstrosity picked up a chunk of gravel off of the street and raised it over his large head and threw it right at them.
GABRIEL!
She couldn't help but shout in her mind as they both darted out of the way of the concrete. Kaitlyn rolled over to see that it had crushed a car nearby.
Oh my God. It's coming this way.
And it was, it was coming towards them and it had it's eyes directly on Kaitlyn. She could hear yelling in her head and she didn't know if it was hers or Gabriel's but she scrambled to her feet and started running as fast as she could. She turned her head, flame red hair catching in her eyes but she could still see enough to see the thing that was chasing her. She had no idea where Gabriel was and she couldn't concentrate enough to listen to him in her head, she just ran through the streets of Everett until she was breathless. She thought maybe she was safe when she heard the roar again and looked up to see the giant zombie on top of a nearby building. How had it gotten up there so fast? How was a zombie so fast and so big?
Gabriel?
