Who: Elena and Elijah
What: Talking and catching up
When: Nowish
Where: Away from the prison
Warnings: None for now
Elena had turned off her humanity. When she had told him that, there was no point in talking over a net. He wanted to see her in person. He was curious as to why it had come to that point, what were the factors, who had just let her go so easily. It was bad enough she was a vampire to begin with but then to shut everything off to where the girl that was known for her compassion and kindness would grow so dark, it made him curious. He had once told her to never let her heart grow cold. Words were only words he supposed, but they meant something to him.
It was almost as if everything else had disappeared. The questions that he had for Elena were somehow pushed from his mind, although now that he was standing in the field, watching the gates and anticipating the doppelgangers arrival had brought him back. It was what was most important after all. He wanted to know what threats were being thrown the prisons way and if it was really deemed necessary to go to such drastic measures.
He had once depended on Elena to tell him the truth, but he learned that she would withhold information, sometimes deadly information. This was quite different though. He wanted her to be comfortable enough to where she would feel there was nothing to hide.
The wind blew as his eyes shifted. He noticed her walking from the building to the gates. Her usual walk, as if she were being careful. "Elena," he whispered. In an instant, he was at the gates, whatever yelling that was going on was finished. He assumed that she was supposed to have a buddy from the words that were flowing through the air, but his presence made up for it.
Elijah looked her over carefully until his eyes were staring into hers. Nodding, he led them through the field and away from the prison, away from prying ears that would have indulged.
"You look nervous," he said finally, his voice calm and almost teasing as he kept his gaze ahead of them as they walked.
