Although it’s not world ending bad just... new power levels, I suppose.
wanda
I mean.. nothing was damaged or altered so it's truly fine in that sense.
But... new power levels are good aren't they?
It's what you've been working toward.
zatanna
I’m not entirely sure.
I woke up this morning with more memories, an awareness, I suppose. Like I’d lived it but I haven’t. It came with a deeper awareness of my true power, in a sense.
wanda
Do you think it's from you exploring your powers too fast?
Basically your powers protecting you from overdoing it.
Or do you think Night Vale was the catalyst?
zatanna
It could be any of those options, couldn't it?
Or maybe just... knowledge?
I'm more of a witch than I'd believed, since I thought the stone was where my power was from.
wanda
As long as you're currently stable, that's all that matters.
And I never doubted it, babe.
Though I'm glad you have that confirmation for yourself. But do you feel relieved in that sense?
zatanna
Maybe?
The things that are possible are... scary.
Although I suppose the emphasis on learning how to control it is clearer.
wanda
Yes - and you've started a good foundation for control.
[...]
No matter what skill level you're at, magic always has the potential to be scary.
A lot of that comes down to the choices we make, though.
zatanna
Do you understand much about chaos magic?
That's what it's called, at least.
And I can alter reality, it seems. On a very large scale.
wanda
I understand the consequences - more so now than when I was younger.
The very laws of nature no longer mean anything. You can break the universe, mold it to your will, and put it right back how you want.
There is a Lord, in my world, named Mordru. He deals only in chaos magic. He's a Homo Magi, like me, though there is no trace of humanity left in him.
Luckily though, for every agent of chaos there is always order. Somewhere.
zatanna
I think I'm supposed to break the universe.
Or dominate it. I haven't gotten that far through the Darkhold.
It prophesies my entire being and Agnes... Agatha believes it heralds the coming of a dark being.
wanda
Well that’s certainly something.
[...]
Babe, prophecies are shit a lot of the time.
Essentially, you can now rewrite whatever prophecy to your liking.
But like all magic it’s a matter of should, not could.
I’m rather curious about this Darkhold, though?
zatanna
Like the dinosaur films. I can do it, but should I do it?
The Darkhold is the book of the Damned. Agatha used it for centuries to steal magic from powerful witches.
I believe it is a book of great evil.
wanda
Yes, exactly like that.
Though if you gain the attention of Ian Malcolm to this place I might swoon a little.
Huh. Well now I’m incredibly intrigued.
Back home I have quite the collection, a safe keeping of sorts.
This Agatha sounds like a true hag, though.
zatanna
Well, I am a reality warper. Maybe I just think it and we'll have Dr Ian Malcolm on your doorstep.
Or a T-Rex, it seems to be hit or miss at times.
I read it, I'm not entirely sure I understand it all yet, but... I might be able to conjure it, eventually.
Agatha is... complicated, I guess. Who knows where that will go, but she's neutralised for now.
wanda
Don’t threaten me with a good time babe.
Wouldn’t be my first go ‘round with dinosaurs.
We can worry about that later, if it’s needed.
And good - less to worry about there and here.
Try to take it easy the rest of the night? I suggest a nice long soak. Candles. A non-magical book. The whole shebang.
