Continued from here.
"Donna's really going to be there when we come through the Gate?" Sam Beckett asked as he looked up toward the ceiling while Carson checked his eyes one last time.
"Aye. Sam...the other Sam...called Stargate Command, and General Landry pulled some strings and got her clearance. She'll be there," he told him before putting his penlight aside and picking up his stethoscope. He placed it on Sam's back. "Breathe in."
The other man did before letting it out as a relieved sigh. "I can't wait to see her again. I've missed her so much. After everything that's happened and everything I've had to do...she's still there."
"She sounds like an incredible woman."
"She is." He looked over to where Sammy Jo was hovering outside medical, waiting for Carson's final word. "So's Sammy Jo."
Carson glanced back over his shoulder. He was pretty sure that Sammy Jo hadn't let Sam out of her sight for the last three weeks. "She's a lot like you," he commented.
"With good reason."
That made Carson do a double take. He looked at Sammy Jo, then back at Sam - for the first time actually noticing the resemblance between the two. "But she's..."
"I was a time traveler, remember?" Sam said, and Carson nodded, suddenly understanding. "Al said I wouldn't remember, but I did. As soon as I saw her again, I did." He looked at Sammy Jo again for a moment.
"She doesn't know?"
Sam shook his head. "She thinks her father is someone named Will Kinman and always will. It's better that way. So what's the diagnosis?"
"You're healthy, and according to your last blood work-up, your cells are stable. You can go home and live the rest of your life linearly like the rest of us."
Smiling, Sam slid off the table. "Thanks, Doc." He paused and looked at him. "You know, my great-grandfather John had a Scottish cousin named Carson."
Carson chuckled. "Funny. I was named after my great-grandfather, who had an American cousin named John. Story was he fought in your Civil War."
Both men looked at each other a moment before Sam shook his hand and then went out to tell Sammy Jo the news. Carson put all his equipment away before saying goodbye to Jennifer and heading down to his family's quarters, where luggage was stacked up near the door. He smiled when he saw it.
The three of them were finally getting their honeymoon.
"Sorry about that," he apologized to his spouses as he picked up Erin when she toddled over to him. "They wanted to a final check on Doctor Beckett. Anything you need me to take care of before we leave?"
