Daniel shifted in his chair and continued to write. Once the page was full, he sighed and took his glasses off to rub his eyes. He'd made a small break through with the books Sam and him had found in Greece and had been working all morning on finishing it. He didn't think he would be able to finish it by the end of the day but he hoped to have it finished before the next staff meeting.
With another sigh, Daniel put his glasses back on and looked to the side and grinned. Laying between two of his books was a sleeping Alek. The puppy had been a wonderful addtion to their family, even if he did wake Daniel up every morning by licking his ears. Molly adored him and Alek was wonderful company to have in the lab. Reaching over, Daniel started to stratch Alek's head just as the alarm on his watch went off.
Alek's eyes shot open and he barked before nudging Daniel's hand.
"I know," Daniel said before he started to close his books and notes. He had set his alarm to remind him he had a lunch date with his wife and friends. The day before he'd missed lunch by accident since he'd been so enthralled in his work. He had promised Sam he would be there today and he never liked breaking his promises to her.
Once everything was put away, Daniel picked Alek up and hurried down to the atrium. When he got there, John, Fred and Molly were already there waiting. He put Alek down and laughed as he bounded over to Molly and curled up beside her. "We the first ones here?" he asked as he sat down on the blanket they'd spread on the ground.
"Yeah. Cait and Carson are grabbing the food and I'm not sure where Sam and Rodney are," Fred said as she leaned back against her husband. "How are the translations coming?"
"I should have most of it done by the next staff meeting. There's a lot of stuff about ascending, which I'm sure the two of you will want to have a look at," Daniel said as the door opened and he glanced over to see who it was.
