Fangtasia (Open to all who want to)
Eric looked around the bar. Appearance wise, it was exactly how he wanted it. Everything was in it's place. The location, however, was still bothering him. He hadn't even really left to explore at all, so he had no idea what was out there. He'd decided that the best way to get to know the people was to draw them in. So he'd had the posters put up by one of the stupid girls who had come to work for him.

He'd thought the twit human he'd had before was bad. The ones, other than George, who had come to find work with him had proven to be no better than goldfish. They had wide, sparkly eyes and ridiculously puckered lips and seemed to drift in circles until he told them specifically what they should be doing. It was obnoxious. He hated all of them. But he couldn't open the bar until he had a staff, and unfortunately, they were the best he could find on short notice. He wasn't willing to put off opening for too long. He needed something to do. Something to keep his mind from stewing about the strange things he'd discovered. Such as - apparently they didn't need deliveries. Every day the bar was refreshed with product. The fact that things around his bar seemed to change on the outside. The store that was across the way one day was not the store that was across the way the next.

At this point, he just needed distraction. Distraction and a way to meet people. Both of which the bar was good at.

Right at ten sharp, he unlocked the front door and placed one of the girls outside as the greeter. He'd rather have had a vampire out there, but as he didn't know any here, he had to make due with what he had. It had caused him a brief amount of wonder, were there any other vampires in this place? He'd sensed nor smelled none since he'd been here, at least not close by. That was both disconcerting and rather interesting. Imagine, being the only vampire in a city. What he could do with that.

Eric returned to his throne at the back of the bar. The place he always sat when the doors opened. Through most of the night, as well. Ready for humans and vampires alike to present themselves to him. It was also the place with the best view of the entire club. There wasn't a corner he couldn't see into, save for the other rooms in back. Luckily he could hear well enough to know if there was anything undue going on back there.

The girls waited for their first customers. A couple danced lazily, joined by a handful of males, at various places scattered about the large open room. Some with poles, some just up on especially sturdy tables. Things he'd arranged for vampires to dance on, not normal humans. But what could he do?

Buffy was unhappy.

The moment Buffy saw the flyers... she wasn't sure how to react. Angry. The Slayer was angry. Her last boyfriend Riley had cheated on her with a vampire. He'd let the vampire feed on him. There was that vampire wannabe coven in high school? The one her best friend from LA had started in order to get a bunch of confused kids in exchange for being made a vampire.

The best case scenario? There were a bunch of idiots putting themselves in danger. The worst case? Someone was ringing a big ole dinner bell and people would be killed.

Thinking positively? She hadn't seen anyone she recognized. At least she wouldn't be facing that level of disgust or disappointment. Buffy wore a large silver cross necklace, a present from Angel when they first met, with a wood stake concealed in her sleeve. She'd decided against bringing in a big sword. Not until she knew what she was getting into.

To the girl at the door she glared, "Who's in charge of this place?"

She smiled vacantly and pointed at the man on the throne. The Slayer sighed.

Eric watched as the door girl pointed in his direction and looked past her to the blond who had done the asking. He smirked to himself and it stayed on his face as she moved closer.

Well, apparently the first human to get to drink free all night was not a happy one. In fact, she appeared to be pretty irritated. He wondered if she was going to turn out to be one of those damned Fellowship of the Sun people. Here to make a loud and mighty statement about how bad vampires are and that he should burn in hell.

Should be entertaining at least.

Eric waited for her to approach and say what she wanted to say. He was sure she would say it, whatever it was, loudly.

Buffy walked toward the man on the throne with purpose. She wasn't afraid of him. The cross wouldn't have helped her look any less religious. Buffy wasn't concerned with misconception right now. She wasn't sure if the smirk on the proprietor's face was one of recognition-- if it was it meant he was looking for a fight. Buffy didn't pull out her stake yet. It was too soon to tell what was going on.

When she approached him-- not too close-- she crossed her arms. It was the same defiant stance she reserved for Big Bads, Gods and maybe even the mayor.

"What the Hell do you think you're doing? Are you trying to get people killed?"

Something about him reminded her of Dracula. God, she hoped he wasn't like Drac. She hadn't been able to slay him-- not with his turning to mist trick-- but she'd been able to run him out of town. In The City Buffy didn't have that luxury.

Eric didn't move as she stopped in front of him. He eyed her carefully, taking in her tiny form and the way she stood, as if she might be able to hurt him. Defiant. Sure of herself. Yet so very small. It was quite intriguing.

"What am I doing? I'm opening my bar. I would think that from the posters placed around town and the big one right outside the door, something such as that would be clear. But if I need to make it more obvious, I suppose I could rent some giant spot lights and have a big inflatable gorilla that holds a banner saying 'Grand Opening'. Would that appeal to you more, human?"

His eyes landed on the cross around her neck. He leaned forward and lifted it from where it rested and let it lay in his palm.

"This is cute, you know. I have no clue why so many of you think this will do anything to us." He was glad to discover it wasn't silver. Not that it would have stopped him, but he would have had to hide the burn mark on his palm for a while after.

Buffy brushed his hand away. Not raised in a way meant to hurt him, but firm. The cross had sentimental value and Buffy not knowing anything about this vampire, didn't trust him not to break it. Like her Class Protector award. The cross, being a gift from her ex, had significantly more sentimental value.

"Alright. You must be new. Let me put this as simply as I can. You: not the only vampire in town. In fact, you're not the only kind of vampire in town. Different people come from different worlds. So different vampires from different worlds means different rules."

In the middle of the conversation two bat-faced vampires came in, staring at the employees with hungry leers, licking their lips as if they were entering an all you can eat buffet. Their snarls made them sound like large jungle cats. The door girl thought they were flirting and giggled. Buffy turned her head and glared. The two of them recognized her and bolted immediately from the vampire friendly establishment.

"Maybe you're a nice guy, maybe you're not. I don't care. My job is to protect anyone human, even if they're stupid enough to walk into a place like this. Meanwhile you're ringing a dinner bell for every vampire wondering whether or not this is the new place to hunt. So that's why I'm here. If you can keep the peace and keep anyone from getting killed when they walk here, then fine. I have other places I can patrol. But enough vampires come in that don't respect your establishment? ...You won't need me to shut you down."

That was interesting to know. Not the only vampire. Not the only kind of vampire. Whatever that meant, it really piqued his curiosity. He'd have to find out more about that, probably not from this girl, however.

He sat back in his chair and folded his hands under his chin.

"There is no blood drinking in my establishment." He told her. "This is a place where the little fangbangers can find a vampire willing to fuck them. Who humans go home with is not my problem. If they are stupid enough to get themselves hurt, they likely shouldn't be alive anyway, should they."

Eric was beginning to wonder if there were the same laws in this new place. If there were things he could get away with now that he couldn't before. Something he would have to look into. More intriguing than the other types of vampires, really.

"If you wish to do your little policing outside of this place, I can't stop you. However, in here, it is my world. The vampires will abide by my rules, or they will be grievously harmed. I will be sure to place a plaque containing the laws of the realm above the bar, to assure that these other types of vampires know what they're facing. And no. I am not a nice guy."

Buffy made a face. Fangbanger?

"The laws of the realm? What are you, Robin Hood? Let me make one thing clear. Inside, outside-- makes no difference to me. I'm the Slayer. In The City, when it comes to the vampires and demons and hell gods, I am the law. If anyone human is ever hurt inside your establishment, this won't be an establishment much longer."

She didn't expect him to believe her. Buffy was small. Buffy was blonde. She had a silly name. Buffy couldn't pronounce the names of half the demons listed in the Watcher's Journals. She insignificant and unimportant. The Slayer had been laughed at most of her career. It didn't matter. She was cutting him more slack than she had anyone. If he decided not to respect that he could learn the hard way.

"I told you." His smile was gone, his face very serious now. He hadn't taken kindly to the Robin Hood remark, and her trust in his abilities to keep his patrons in line was insulting.

"Nobody will do anything to anybody inside these doors. In here it is a place for people to meet. It is a place for vampires to feel at ease. I pride myself in the way I run this place. Besides, it brings in a terrific amount of money, now why ever would I want that to change?"

Eric waved a waitress over and pointed to the blond girl.

"As much as it pains me to say it, you were the first human in here. You drink free all night. Anything you want. You can even try the TruBlood if you really want it. We stock all the possible types."

Buffy was about to turn down his offer and show herself out when something he said surprised her. "TruBlood? Do I want to know what that is?"

It made her feel better, if only for a fleeting moment, that he might take keeping the peace in his establishment seriously. She wasn't sure. Buffy took the serious expression on his face as a good sign. If nothing else as an understanding.

"I won't stay long. Probably not good for you opening night."

Any vampire that had ever faced Buffy would probably be stunned to hear her concede something like that. Give a vampire space? For vampires and humans to mingle? ...Buffy surprised herself. She just hoped she wasn't going to regret this.

Eric smiled again. "Do they not have that here, then?" What a way to make a profit. Being the only establishment in town that had access to TruBlood. "It's a synthetic blood made in Japan. Created so that humans could feel safe with vampires around, and we could still survive without needing to feed on them. It comes in every known blood type. Or one type can be mixed with another for vampires who have odder tastes."

He hated the stuff. In truth, he only drank it if there was no other option. Usually, he could find other options. Other, very willing, options.

"All are welcome here. But you are not forced to stay." Eric leaned forward again. "I'm very disappointed that I don't have my regular dancers. I think that I could tempt even you with one or two of them."

He did like pretty things, after all. And he made sure that all of his dancers, male and female, were pleasing to the eye. At all times.

Buffy's interest was piqued. She wondered about what sort of world this vampire came from. It gave her something to wonder about. An entirely new grey area in slaying had just opened up. She suspected he was going to make her job harder. Much harder.

But at the mention of dancers, the slayer smiled wryly: "Sorry. Not really my scene."

The Slayer took another good look around the establishment before turning around and showing herself out.
