Buffy brushed his hand away. Not raised in a way meant to hurt him, but firm. The cross had sentimental value and Buffy not knowing anything about this vampire, didn't trust him not to break it. Like her Class Protector award. The cross, being a gift from her ex, had significantly more sentimental value.
"Alright. You must be new. Let me put this as simply as I can. You: not the only vampire in town. In fact, you're not the only kind of vampire in town. Different people come from different worlds. So different vampires from different worlds means different rules."
In the middle of the conversation two bat-faced vampires came in, staring at the employees with hungry leers, licking their lips as if they were entering an all you can eat buffet. Their snarls made them sound like large jungle cats. The door girl thought they were flirting and giggled. Buffy turned her head and glared. The two of them recognized her and bolted immediately from the vampire friendly establishment.
"Maybe you're a nice guy, maybe you're not. I don't care. My job is to protect anyone human, even if they're stupid enough to walk into a place like this. Meanwhile you're ringing a dinner bell for every vampire wondering whether or not this is the new place to hunt. So that's why I'm here. If you can keep the peace and keep anyone from getting killed when they walk here, then fine. I have other places I can patrol. But enough vampires come in that don't respect your establishment? ...You won't need me to shut you down."
