No evil
I would like to reiterate that the medical bay is here for anyone who has any sort of medical concern. We can sort out any prescriptions you might need. That said, we do monitor our patients carefully and will not over prescribe any medication if we feel it might be misused in some way.

Has your friend actually seen a doctor at all?

Is he always like this?

We're not bad people, Robin. Anything that does get shared among the staff stays among the medical bay staff. We're all trained professionals and we just want to keep the people here healthy. We all went through years of medical school, passed very vigorous exams and we are all very good at what we do.

I don't think you're bad people. I just don't think everything needs to be shared like that.

It's not everything. It's what we're legally and morally required to share among the staff.

Legally I understand but morally?

Wouldn't you consider it more a moral obligation to the person you spoke to to maintain some confidentiality?

There is some.

Let's take insomnia as an example. A patient comes to me because they're having trouble sleeping. They tell me it's because they're having nightmares and we spend much of the appointment discussing the content of those nightmares. possible triggers, and I advise how to better understand them in future, while at the same time prescribing one of several possible medications.

What I put down in the file is that patient X came in on DATE, with insomnia, the medication and dosage prescribed. Any details about the nightmares remain confidential between myself and patient X, at least after the first appointment. If it turns out that patient X is seeing several of us and it's becoming a seriously long term condition, then we might discuss it further.

Yes, it is the moral obligation. It is in the best long term interests of our patients.

Yeah. Sort of how I figured it would be.
