Things I have learned about your holidays:

--You guys really like beards on your mythological figures. Like, to an unhealthy degree. What's up with that?
--Never try to snake the last shopping cart from a woman surrounded by three kids.
--It is a Bad Idea to ask a woman in a black dress (a habit, I came to find out) if red and green were the beard guy's favorite colors. You won't get an answer, but you will lose 45 minutes of your life.
--It is way too fucking cold to be celebrating anything.
--Most importantly, your universe seems to approve my mocking Zell. All of the things I could have wished for, and stealing the last Balamb Garden hotdog right out from under his deeply obsessed nose is still the most satisfying thing I could have asked for.

Two questions: 1.) Are we done with the holidays until it's actually properly warm?
2.) Who does a guy talk to about getting a legal ID here? I'd really like it if I could make some money that your stores would actually take. I managed to charm my way into some groceries, but I'm pretty sure that only works the one time.

Mike Tyson? Is this Mike Tyson person someone I can use to torment Zell if he ever shows up? If so, I'm downright intrigued and you should tell me more. As for when I'm from, let's just say I've learned I'm not very good at fishing.

That sounds just a little bit like Galbadia. It does, but you can only be but so festive in a bar. Then it's back out into the freezing cold without the layers you just took off because the booze warmed you up.

He's a boxer. Used to be respected, then went and bit another boxer's ear off. Presumably, no one ever heard him talk before he lost respect doing that because dude's got a tiny voice. It's hard to respect a man with a voice that small. I suspect it was the ball shrinkage that steroids cause. And hey, if you now know that you suck balls at fishing then we might be okay. As long as you don't go and play any more follow-the-crazy-psychopath-lady-leader games.

Ah, but the beauty of it is when you go to a New Year's party instead of just a bar. Because then there's no real need to go back out in the cold.

Bit a guy's ear off? Holy hell no, Zell's annoying but, last I checked, he's not the crazy one. Selphie maybe. Someone should probably warn Kinneas. I'm really trying to avoid following anybody other than myself these days, so I think we should be good.

Is there a party? Should I take that as an invite?

I don't know, punching dolphins out of the ground anywhere you are - including the desert - is kinda crazy seeming. And hey, good plan. For the most part, at least. I think you'd be safe following the anti-Satan people around here. The saneish seeming ones, at least.

I don't know. I haven't really been here long and I don't exactly have a lot of friends, so there's really no telling on that one. I haven't been invited to one, at least. Just a bar opening, but that was a general "Anyone can come that wants to" sort of thing.

I still have no idea how he does that. Does he have a whistle? Is he some kind of dolphinmancer? Most of our breaks I get. Mine's chi, I'd wager on Squall's being mostly the same, Selphie and Ri just uses a crapton of magic, Instructor Trepe does that creepy Blue Magic stuff, but how the hell does he summon a dolphin out of desert sand? That's not chi and, unless I missed a day in class which is totally possible it isn't any magic I've ever heard of.

Bar opening sounds like a good enough party to me. What time are we leaving?

This! So much this! I mean, seriously. Dolphins. In the desert. Maybe they're really good mirages that he manages to make everyone have - including the person playing the game. Or maybe the dolphin is his spirit animal and his break is really just a patronus or something.

I hadn't really thought that far ahead. Really, I've only thought as far as "Hey, I should go to that."

...Dolphins being his spirit animal would explain so much. I'm guessing a patronus is some kind of special spirit animal?

Did the notice mention what time it's opening?

Right? And eh, yeah. Sort of. I mean, it's a spell thing from the Harry Potter stuff, and any time now one of the people around here from HP is probably going to show up and glare at me for being all referencey with it, but yeah. It's basically a spirit animal that wards shit off. (And now I pause to wait for impending bitchfacing and/or correction.) You've got some pop culture to catch up on around here, man.

Didn't say, nope. But, the best part of NYE is the midnight part, so I'd say that nine or ten would be a good time.

That is the worst explanation of a patronus that I've ever heard mate.

It's totally a magic shiny white silver spirit animal!

It's not. Much more complicated than that, and it's advanced magic, you make it sound like any regular 'ol witch or wizard can conjure one without the least bit of difficulty. If you've read anything you know that's not the truth.

Well, I wasn't trying to insinuate that it's easy. Just that it's a magical spirit animal.

It's not a spirit animal. It's a representation of the person who conjures it. Like Aunt Mione's is an otter because she's clever and quick witted. Spirit animal is more like a guide. Patronuses can be used to pass messages and ward away dementors, but they don't guide someone.

Dude, spirit animals can totally also be representations of the people with the spirit animals.

Wait, this is natural magic? That's a common thing where you're from?

Yes, it's a common thing where I'm from and it's something your'e either born with or not. And then once you're of a certain age you learn how to control it.

Huh. You have to be born with it where I'm from too, but it's so rare that if you're born with it, you're almost guaranteed to end up playing some role in history. The rest of us have to make due with paramagic.

My whole family, save one or two, is magic. And we're a pretty big lot. If you're born from a magic family it's likely you'll be magic, unless you're unlucky, then you're a squib We're not completely rare, though.

I think I should test this by throwing a fish at him if he shows up here. Even if he doesn't catch it with his teeth, it will still be funny. Oh, so basically like Protect or Shell but with a fancy visual?

Sounds like a plan.

You know what? I'd laugh if you did that. Just saying. But, then again, I'm the guy that's considered seeing what would happen if I threw some raw meat at some werewolves I know, and not just when they're wolfed out. And yeah, it's like that. Except not so much.

Oh, hey. I'm Stiles, by the way. I think we kinda skipped over that part.

I think you'd probably be safer throwing the meat at them when they're not wolfed out. At least Zell isn't gonna turn around and break out the razor sharp teeth if I do it.

I guess we did. Hey, Stiles. Nice to meet you.

Dude, they can switch in the span of like three heartbeats. I just still want to see what they do if I throw it out them. Besides, if I'm picky about who I throw it at? They won't hurt me. I've solved their problems quicker than they have too many times for that.

You too, man.
