Filtered against evil
Things I have learned about your holidays:

--You guys really like beards on your mythological figures. Like, to an unhealthy degree. What's up with that?
--Never try to snake the last shopping cart from a woman surrounded by three kids.
--It is a Bad Idea to ask a woman in a black dress (a habit, I came to find out) if red and green were the beard guy's favorite colors. You won't get an answer, but you will lose 45 minutes of your life.
--It is way too fucking cold to be celebrating anything.
--Most importantly, your universe seems to approve my mocking Zell. All of the things I could have wished for, and stealing the last Balamb Garden hotdog right out from under his deeply obsessed nose is still the most satisfying thing I could have asked for.

Two questions: 1.) Are we done with the holidays until it's actually properly warm?
2.) Who does a guy talk to about getting a legal ID here? I'd really like it if I could make some money that your stores would actually take. I managed to charm my way into some groceries, but I'm pretty sure that only works the one time.

The alcohol part I'm fine with, but you guys really need to figure out a way to abolish winter. Maybe also fall, from what I'm reading. Then again, I grew up on a pretty temperate island, I could be biased.

Winters not so bad. It has a lot of cute clothes. The trick is to learn how to stay inside for most of it. Fall can be very pretty depending on where you are in the world. There's something about the leaves changing color that's calming.

Though if you're an island you must be freezing.

Y'know what other climates have cute clothes? Warm ones. I'd argue those are better.

I'm an islander through and through. We weren't quite equatorial, but we were close. Meaning we got to skip all this crappy cold weather.

It's not so much cute for warm weather though. Tends to head more into the sexy category. Also not as much fun running around in business attire when its nearing a hundred outside.

But then you've never had reason for drinking the various kinds of hot cocoa, or made a snowman, or been involved in a snowball fight. And really, can you say that you've truly lived then?

Sexy wasn't actually where I was going with that, but I certainly won't complain about it. I see your point there, but I've never had the displeasure of being forced into one of those so I can't say I know what that feels like. Garden uniforms might have been just as bad, but funnily enough they never quite figured out how to make me wear mine.

I might have, once upon a time. My memories of my early childhood's pretty fuzzy-bordering-on-nonexistent, so it could have happened, I guess. If I ever went to Trabia as a kid. I feel pretty safe in saying I'm not missing out, even if I would handily win a snowball fight.

So you're a gardener? I'd say be thankful for not needing to wear business attire, but really its the heels that are killer.

You really can't boast about being able to win a snowball fight if you've never been involved in one. There are logistics involved that as an islander you've probably never had to deal with before.

Mercenary, actually. Garden was just the name of the school system that raised us. Kids live and train in one of three schools, called Gardens, and then once they pass the written and field exams, become SeeD, Garden's elite mercenary force. Silly names, I know, but I didn't come up with them.

I ran an army for awhile. I think I'm probably a safe bet.

The Garden schools produce seeds? Really. I'd call bullshit, but it really doesn't phase me.

Army general's daughter. I think I could take you. I have the added advantage of being more use to snow than you, own the correct gear, and know how to make the best snowballs.

There was a hidden meaning to the whole thing that made more sense with the names, but most of that I didn't find out until very recently. Basically, the guy that founded the thing knew there was a big apocalyptic battle coming. SeeD was supposed to be the elite secret army that mobilized to save the world. Then he started getting financiers and you know how the money men can get their fingers into a project and twist. So by the time I was repeatedly flunking field exams, we were a mercenary force with rumors of some "other mission" that most people didn't really believe.

Is that a challenge? Because I should warn you, I have a policy of accepting any and all gauntlets thrown down.

So you were went from one apocalyptic battle and landed smack dab in another. You've got some kind of luck there. And yeah, money often like power have a way of corrupting the best of ideas.

It most certainly is one. Are you at the complex?

Battle was over, actually. They We The good guys won, the world was saved, and as I understand it the bad guy was dead. As for my luck, yeah, that could maybe be better.

As it happens I am, at least until I get on my feet. Meet up outside?

At least there's that. It would have been a pretty hellish world if not.

Seeing as how I'm going to be the one winning this thing, I should probably tell you who you can tell people to blame for your epic loss. Name's Seifer Almasy.

Seifer, you better remember to let everyone know you were bested by Lois Lane tomorrow. Declarations of my cunning strategy and superb snowball skills should be in the post.

In your dreams, Lois. When I win, you should make sure to mention my aggressive campaign and unconventional tactics. If you want to undersell it and say I'm in the top three of snowball fight opponents, I'm okay with that.
