I'm also gonna suggest cutting comms from the battle to the aftermath down to bare mimimum communications while the main battle threads go on to keep it a little bit real time. If you have to for time constraint reasons please mark it post battle

She clung to him in silence for a few, long moments. She was just so relieved that her son, so very different from the son she knew but still very much himself, was okay. Physically, at least. The rest could come later, would come with time, and she could handle that.

Olivia didn't know what to say, words of comfort couldn't find their way out of her mouth in that moment, so she just held him a little tighter and hoped that would help, somehow.

He clung tight, trying to get himself back under control. He needed to tell her about Amy. And, God, he'd have to tell Ginger. And Charley too. It was overwhelming, his heart was breaking all over again, and every time he started to get his breathing under control, every time he tried to force the words out, his throat closed off again and more tears came.

A few minutes passed like an eternity with Peter simply trying to hold on, soaking in his mother's presence, trying to hold onto that. She was okay, she was alive and safe and they were together. As long as they were alive they had a chance. They could make this right. He didn't have the slightest idea how, and he was far too exhausted, body and soul, to think of it now, but there had to be a way. "Amy's gone," he whispered, barely containing the wild mix of emotions pulling at him.

Olivia didn't press him for anything until he was ready to speak. If what had happened here, at the Roadhouse, was anything to measure by, she couldn't even begin to imagine what had happened out there, in the very heart of it all. The things he'd seen, she didn't even want to picture them. So she just continued to hold him and comfort him silently until he was read.

And the two tiny words he finally managed to get out made her heart skip a beat. Amy, the girl she'd only just begun to know, was gone. She was so young, it broke Olivia's heart to think of it. "Gone? Oh, Peter, I'm so sorry, love," she whispered, placing a kiss to his cheek. She knew how close he had been to the girl, she was such a good friend to him.
