THE APOCALYPSE

 photo rky0xt.gif

This is your IC Threadpost.

Please keep things labelled with character names in the subject line.

I'll be doing a few subheaders. Pre fight, Battle, Hellbound and Aftermath. Tag into any of these and if you want another subthread made ask me or MJ so it looks all tidy and whatnot.

Go forth and thread mah lovelies
I'm also gonna suggest cutting comms from the battle to the aftermath down to bare mimimum communications while the main battle threads go on to keep it a little bit real time. If you have to for time constraint reasons please mark it post battle

Lucifer/Sam - open to Michael/Dean

From the very moment in which Lucifer had twisted the first demon into form, his fate had been sealed. He would fall, only to rise again, and - when he finally did - he was to battle his brother to the death. Here. At this cemetery. What was once a place of sanctuary for the dead had been turned into a place of severe unrest. The displaced had created a feeble army in the hope that they would be able to defeat him and, in return, Lucifer had given them a taste of his own. They wanted a fight; they wanted to die. What better place to do so than on the very ground that they would likely be buried?

Lucifer stood away from the battle. He hadn't come here for them.

It was Michael. His brother. His family. If he was to win this war, Lucifer had to do what was necessary. Michael was his brother, yes, but he was also determined to destroy Lucifer because God, once upon a time, had seared a thought into the hands of prophecy. It was stupid, really. God was gone. They were here. Lucifer didn't want to kill his brother. Even after spending a million years stuffed away in the box that he had been cast into, Lucifer found that he still didn't despise him. It wasn't his fault. The only person to blame was their father. He was the one who had started all of this. He was the one who had split their family down the middle, leaving it to fray and crack into something so...pathetic that even Lucifer had trouble recognizing it when he resurfaced. If there was anyone either of them should have been fighting, it was daddy dearest. Michael was incapable of seeing that. As always, he was nothing more than a soldier, blindly following the orders that he had been given. It was because of his inability to think for himself that Lucifer found himself standing at the heart of Stull cemetery.

Michael would show. He had been waiting for this moment for far too long. He wouldn't dare pass it up.

Lucifer curled Sam Winchester's fingers into his palms, balling the hands of his vessel into fists. He was still getting used to the new body. Unlike Nick, Sam was a perfect fit. After spending so long using a body that was so fragile, it felt strange to be in one that felt right. Lucifer couldn't help but smile at the thought. He had always known that this body would be his. For as long as Sam had protested, Lucifer knew that he would best him. And he had. The only problem was - and it was a small thing, really - that Sam, as a host, was unexpectedly...stubborn. He had felt him wriggling around on the inside a few times since he had taken him over. It wasn't much, but it was more than Lucifer had felt with anyone else. Sam was trying to kick him out. He was trying to escape. Somehow, he had enough strength inside of him to let Lucifer know that he wasn't willing to be subjected to his control so easily.

But he wouldn't get his way. He belonged to Lucifer now, just as Dean Winchester belonged to Michael. It was with these hands, whether Sam liked it or not, that Lucifer would kill Michael. And Dean as well, he supposed. Together, he and Sam would share their pain. The bond of the two rebellious sons who had rejected their fathers orders would only strengthen through the experience.

Michael had been waiting for this moment for a very, very long time. Anxious, dreading, but waiting, because this was predestined, and until this was finished, Michael would never know peace. Lucifer haunted him - not in the way the insignificant spirits of the dead and damned of this planet haunted. It was a different sort of haunting - it was the looming dread he felt when he considered his blade piercing the heart of his beloved brother's Grace with the blade that lit bright like flames in the presence of darkness. It was in the doubts that he forced himself not to have, even when the humans questioned him, questioned Father and His Will.

Michael refused to have doubts. He did not need them; he had orders, and that was enough. Surely, this was right.

It was time for this crippled and broken world to have its peace.

Michael had been standing in the garden above the burial grounds all night. It was peaceful, there, and there was a certain symbolic comfort in the place; praying in a garden before an event that must be, but was dreaded. If it be Thy Will, he had breathed towards the sky, knowing he would not be heard - or that if he were heard, his prayers were not heeded. It did not matter. He had his orders, why should he need anything else? Comfort and reassurance were for humans. Michael was an Archangel. A warrior.

The gathering beings below - some human, some twisted parodies of human shapes, some foul, blood-drinking monsters who pretended humanity - held his attention for only so long. He could sense Lucifer nearby, knew exactly where his brother stood. His hesitation was not doubt. It was another prayer, a plea for strength that he knew he had, another unheeded whisper towards a Heaven full of angels as confused and conflicted and tired as he was.

His vessel's spirit shifted inside, restless, and Michael crushed him back down, before steeling himself and appearing, in a fluttering rustle of feathered wings, behind Lucifer.

"Call off your army. They will do you no good." If he wished, Michael could have sent for a thousand angels to storm this place, sweep away the abominations and carry the deserving human souls to their eternal reward. But this was not the time or the place for his angels; this was Lucifer and Michael, and no one else.

He didn't need to turn around to know that Michael had appeared. He could feel his presence. It was much stronger than that of anyone else that he had surveyed on the battlefield. For a small moment, Lucifer's cold demeanor shifted into something that resembled dread. Of all the battles that he was to face, this was the only one that would ever truly hurt him.

He re-assembled his confidence by the time he forced his gaze upon his brother. "They aren't here for you," Lucifer informed him. Surely, Michael understood that he had to keep the displaced busy. The less that they interfered with their fight, the quicker they could be done with it.

"I'm sorry that you're here, brother." It only meant that Michael was going to die. For all of his strength and superiority, Michael lacked in creativity. He would fight honorably. Lucifer couldn't afford to do the same. "That it's come to this. I wanted more. I wanted better." He had dreamed of better. That instead of fighting with his family, he would reunite them. Yet how could he accomplish that if Michael was to die? Would they listen to him once all of this was over? Would they still see him as an outcast? A monster? Michael killing Lucifer was accepted in Heaven. But Lucifer spilling Michael's blood in return...

"I'm going to offer you one more chance to turn back," he declared. "Return to Heaven. Leave this place and let me finish what I started. You don't have to die, Michael. I don't want you to."
