THE APOCALYPSE

I'll be doing a few subheaders. Pre fight, Battle, Hellbound and Aftermath. Tag into any of these and if you want another subthread made ask me or MJ so it looks all tidy and whatnot.

I'm also gonna suggest cutting comms from the battle to the aftermath down to bare mimimum communications while the main battle threads go on to keep it a little bit real time. If you have to for time constraint reasons please mark it post battle

The demon stood, black eyed, cold. They'd 'won'. People would cheer. People would gloat. People would continue to say that Lucifer had been just another threat to beat. Oh there'd been losses, hard losses, but people endured. They'd live their lives, eventually behappy. But no such life awaited her... She'd have to walk into hell, to the cage itself to get her husband back. She'd have to do exactly what he made her swear not to. But Emily needed her father. Emily needed the influence only he could give. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the means to her salvation. Her friend, the King of the Crossroads, making his move. Stepping up, claiming hell. And for a moment there was hesitation.

It could do him good, or it could hinder him. Who was she to them, the bitch that went native, The demon that betrayed her own. Or was she still his student, his inner circle. Azazel's protege. The one he'd chosen. The one he'd sent to Lilith. Was she still that demon in their eyes? Could she be?

She acted in an instant. The demon killing knife she had grown so fond of lashed out to one of the fleeing demons. Catching it in the throat. Blood spilling from one wound already, she plunged the knife deep into its stomach before dragging it, by the open neck wound toward the crypt where Crowley stood. There was no need for words from her. She was covered in blood, eyes black, dead and cold. But she bowed her head.

"My King." she said simply, letting the body of the first step of her route to Sam fall to the ground with a thud. "You have my fealty."

Despite everything, there was a part of Crowley that still, would always, admire that side of Ruby. The student of Azazel, who could be so beautifully dangerous. And while he knew, even accepted, that she had changed, she was still a demon. Still had that darkness within her and it was incredible.

For a fleeting moment he did wonder what it would be like if he could just let go of all the attachments he had developed and bring her back to what she had once been, to help him rule in power and blood.

But he had changed too. Oh not as much as her. Not by a long shot, her with her epic love and admittedly cute daughter. But he had grown attached to people, even against his better judgment. And he was no longer quite as self centered as he had been even a year ago. He cared. No double negatives involved.

Not that he could show that in that moment, not in front of these demons kneeling before him, who still needed to prove their loyalty to him. No weakness could be shown, the words he wanted to give to Ruby had to remain unspoken.

He teleported down to appear before Ruby, tucking his finger beneath her chin to raise her face, to meet her eyes, hers still black and his still red. "I accept your fealty." The words were simple, and to others his face would seem impassive, but to her, who had known him so many centuries, he just hoped she could see what he wasn't saying.

We'll fix this.
We'll get them back.
We won't give up.
We'll talk.
Later.

When they were alone, when it was safe, only then could they begin to truly plan what to do next. For now, he just hoped she understood everything he wasn't saying to her.
