Who: Arthur and Morgana
What: Arthur arrives in Lawrence, so naturally Morgana must find him
Where: The park
When: Late afternoon of the 25th
Status: Complete
Rating: Mediumish? Beware Morgana's snark?

The fight had been long and hard. Not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. He couldn't believe that Morgana, his half sister, his family, his friend, had betrayed him and his father. No, not just them but their friends and Camelot as well. He wanted to do as he did before and brood but Merlin was right. He couldn't just sit around and brood while people in the kingdom needed his help. His father was broken. Arthur couldn't afford to be. Not now. Not in public.

Letting out a sigh, he started to head for his room to take off his clothing and get some rest. There was still much to do with his new mantle of Regent King. He just hoped he did his father proud. More than that though, that he did right by the people. While some of his experiences had led him to distrust magic, he couldn't be as intolerant as his father. He needed to be better. To prove his people's faith in him.

Pushing the door to his room open he stepped through and blinked when he was suddenly in a grassy area with dozens of oddly dressed people around him. He reached for his sword, ready to draw it out, when he paused, deciding that maybe rash action wasn't the best course at the moment. He needed to find someone to help him first of where he was and what had happened. Though he wouldn't be surprised sadly if this was somehow Morgana's doing.

Keeping a hand on the sword, he began exploring the area, trying to find out a clue as to where he was.

...and why all these people were dressed so strangely. Camelot, this was not. That he was certain of.

And it would seem as though Morgana's dream had been of the foretelling variety. Not that it had done any good. She couldn't find anything of use in it. Nothing that would tell them how to prepare, how to fight back to keep the death and destruction at a minimum. Had Jo not posted about Chuck having visions, or at least a warning, would she have figured out that her dream was indeed foretelling of things to come? Or would she have pushed it aside as another nightmare. Chuck had ways to tell, it seemed even Merlin had ways. Morgana? It all blended into one another. The only reason she had even bothered to ask was because of what they were up against. After years of her dreams being ignored even when the foretold the future, it was natural not to speak up. Lancelot had been different. But, well, he was Lancelot.

Having grown anxious and needing to move, Morgana had slipped out of the complex for air. She knew that they all needed to be prepared and she was thankful that she had already gone to camp. Between Lancelot having filled her in on everything he had learned and then putting it to use there herself, she at least felt able to defend herself and others if necessary.

Because it was the closest she could get to nature in the city, Morgana had decided to head to the park. And that was when she saw him. Arthur. He held himself differently, not by much, but she could see it. They had grown up together. Had been there for one another as much as Uther would let them be, before Gwen had become her companion, her confidant. But she still had missed the arrogant prince. Had needed him when she had first shown up until she had latched onto Lancelot like a life line. And knowing what she knew of her future? She was worried, but she would never show that. She would never let Arthur see how much he could hurt her.

So she watched for a moment, to try and figure out just when he was from. There were plenty of times in her own memory to explain his stance... but he did manage not to pull his sword on instinct.

"Impressive, thinking before acting."

Her voice was light, teasing. It was easy to slip back into the familiar routine and perhaps it was just what she needed. Morgana hadn't slept since she had awoke in the middle of the night from her dream, from the images and empty feeling it had left. The weather was cooling down, and was beginning to feel more similar to that of Camelot. Had she known what his last interaction with her had been before showing up here, perhaps she would have responded differently, but Morgana so much needed the boy she had grown up with that she just responded as she normally would have were they back home.

At first Arthur didn't notice her. He was far too distracted by the strangely wheeled beasts that were not far off from the park. And the people and their manner of speech... It was worse than the lower town of Camelot in a bar. And some of the people had strange black rocks in their hands that they spoke into. This had to be the doings of magic surely. But no one was attacking him or wishing harm on him.

But then her voice hit his ears and he spun, hand on the hilt of his sword ready to draw when his tired mind processed her words. More specifically, the tone in which they were said. There was no malice that he could detect. No trace of hate or bitterness. He remained wary though.

"Morgana. Is this your doing then?" he asked. She hadn't attacked him yet and she could have while he was unawares. Still, she was dangerous. "Did the magic you use to spirit me away from Camelot backfire and bring you here too?"

Well, so much for not being rash.

And he was wary around her. Arthur was never wary around her. Insulting and infuriating? Yes. But wary? No. He always felt he could best her in their verbal spars and as she had always just been Uther's ward, nothing unique or threatening, there had never been reason to be wary. Unless it was coming to terms with things he didn't want to face, to hear. Because Morgana never bothered to hold back when she thought he was being an idiot, which was often.

It was his words that gave her the answer she needed though. Why he was wary. What it was he thought of her. He wasn't dressed as he had been in that damned 'episode' she had seen, but it was enough. She was his enemy. He thought she was behind this. And he knew she had magic. That was both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it meant she wouldn't have to keep it hidden from him and find a way to open his mind to it unlike Uther, and a curse because it seemed she only used magic in her future to harm those she once was close to.

Oh, she had read things, had seen how things had started to go the way they had and she could understand it. She knew herself, she knew how she responded to certain things. A quote on loyalty she had seen, if she felt no loyalty to them, if they had betrayed her trust, it was easier to understand even if the idea still hurt. But she wasn't going to dwell on that. Not here and not now. Instead she merely rolled her eyes.

"You think so highly of me that I could pull something like that off? Or I suspect, it is lowly."

Even though he had his sword and she was unarmed, Morgana knew how to defend herself with magic now. And given Loki seemed to know when she was upset or in peril, she knew that she wouldn't be harmed if she moved closer. So she did.

"Sorry to break it to you, Arthur, but I had nothing to do with bringing you here. As for where 'here' is, we are in a country called America, specifically in a town called Lawrence. And we are about fifteen hundred years in the future."

Now to see how he responded to this.

The prince watched as she took a step forward. She probably thought she was being brave. He lifted his chin at her words and glared at her, doing his best to hide his exhaustion. "Who else would want me out of Camelot? Well I suspect Merlin if only for a break from his duties but that's besides the point. You stand to gain the most with me gone."

But then she was speaking of countries and cities he had never heard of. And travelling through time? His grip loosened subtlely on the sword. That sort of thing was beyond Morgana...if truth she spoke. "What you're saying is impossible," he returned, giving her an exasperated look he had often given her during their verbal matches.

"No one has the kind of magic to do that." While he wasn't a fan of magic, he didn't say the words with the same hatred his father often did.

"Now where are we really Morgana and how do we get back home?" Even if she had betrayed them, he couldn't abandon her. Besides, she had to face justice for what she had done.

Like she needed to be brave around him? Please. It was more of the fact that she knew there was a newspaper dispenser nearby and she needed to get past him to get to it. Because clearly he wasn't going to take her word on the matter as he was from her future where she betrayed him. Sought her birthright from what she understood. But more than that, she knew that someone had to fight for magic, and he wouldn't do it so she had to.

Still, he was insisting she was the only one who would want him out of Camelot beyond Merlin for trivial reasons and well, that was something else entirely and she would let him find out about the wrong version of Merlin for himself.

"Impossible..." Placing a coin into the dispenser, Morgana turned and handed it to Arthur, "But true."

Noticing the lack of complete hatred in Arthur's voice at the term magic, Morgana quirked a brow. There was an inherent distrust and obvious derision, so she would still be on guard. But it was still something. But she didn't bother with the comment about no one having the kind of magic to do this as he was pushing for more information.

"I already told you where we are, Arthur. And if there were a way back, do you honestly think I'd still be here? I've been in this place for months now. The way home is the way you came here. Through a magical... Seal... The new religion speaks of a war between good and evil and for whatever reason, it saw fit to bring us here."

Glaring to the side, Morgana shook her head. She didn't have the patience for this. She needed to go see Loki. She needed to get the words out of her mind so they could warn the others.

He warily watched as Morgana moved to the strange...thing...and deposited a silver coin. When she turned and handed him the paper, he took it and studied it. It was almost like parchment but the words were not hand written. He studied it for a few moments longer before he began to read what was written. Specifically the numbers that told him the date. His brow furrowed and he looked up at her when she spoke next.

"New religion? Not the ones of the druids?" he asked. He was feeling far more overwhelmed than he liked but like hell was he going to let weakness show in front of Morgana. He never had and now, he couldn't else she'd strike. But then he realized something that she said.

"You claim to have been here for months Morgana yet the only time you have been gone from Camelot for months was when you were taken away by Morgause." He could try to be logical when it was needed.

"The 'one god' religion or whatever it is that has been spreading." Pushing out magic, making it seem like evil. Morgana had grown up being told as much thanks to Uther, yet never had believed that. Not really. Especially after meeting Mordred. Being with the Druids as short a time as that was. Magic chose them, but it didn't make them evil. She had wanted to use her magic for good, and here she could. She knew she shouldn't be so dismissive and it was clearly a real threat here but she didn't know how else to describe it.

But then he was speaking of... someone named Morgause. She had read of her, versions of her. Apparently this woman was her half sister.

"I don't know who that is, Arthur. People come from different points of time even if they are from the same world."

Sighing in exhaustion, Morgana just crossed her arms.

"As much as I would adore verbally sparring with you, things are far more dangerous here than they are in Camelot and we should probably get you somewhere safe so you don't end up possessed within your first hour here."

True, she could be lying. After all, if she were from his future, she could have known to play that card. It was dangerous, people knowing to play the innocent card if they were here long enough to get people on their sides. To trick people they knew. But something was coming, something big. And as aggravating as the man before her was, Morgana would never just leave him in the cold, stranded. Not this her, at least. Who knew about her future.

Arthur nodded some. Chris-something he thought it was called. And it seemed they held true to the same belief that all magic was evil like his father did. There had to be some kind of good magic out there, right?

When she spoke of not knowing who Morgause was, and then the explination of same world but different times, he ran a hand through his blond hair. "I suppose I will be needing to take your word for such." But then she was speaking of possession and his hand went immediately to his sword.

"Possession? By dark creatures I take it?" His eyes darted around, wary for threat. Even though he knew he shouldn't go with her, he had little choice. And she was acting different than last he saw her. More like the old her but he had been fooled by her before.

"Very well Morgana." He left off the rest of his words of he was going to watch her or make threat on her. But really, he didn't have much of a choice other than to trust her.

The way Arthur was acting hurt. She didn't show it, but it hurt. She understood of course. Knew that he came from a time after she had turned, sought power to destroy Uther, him... because they had betrayed her even if they didn't see it as such. Left her to feel abandoned, alone. It was the only thing she could make sense of to explain it all.

"Impressive, you're going to trust me because you have no other choice. How big of you, Arthur."

Shaking her head in exasperation, the dark haired woman just let out a sigh. Especially at the question on what would possess him.

"No, Arthur. Fluffy rabbits are going to possess you and make you eat grass."

Honestly. What did he think she meant? Or was he trying to trip her up? Prove to him that she was actually the her who betrayed him. As if he were the only one hurt by all of it. She didn't even have to live it to know she'd been hurt by his own actions, actions that led her to feel she couldn't trust him or Gwen. That she would turn on them. There was no other explanation on why it would happen. And she heard the left off words. Because he could never hide things from her, no matter what he tried.

Still, with the talk of possession, Morgana did recall the amulet. One she probably should have brought a spare of with her in case something like this had happened. Between her and Arthur though? Arthur had more of a shot of getting possessed than she did, even if her powers would make her a far more dangerous vessel to be used. The walk wasn't that long to the complex, though, and she at least knew how to defend herself in this place unlike the man before her. Thus it was this thought process that had her decide that for the walk back, she'd be open to the possibility of being possessed in order to protect the idiot beside her.

Pulling the amulet from around her neck, Morgana held it Arthur, not thinking much of the symbol on it and how it would appear to him. It was to protect him and he had said he had no choice but to trust her right now.

"Here, this will protect you from possession."

Arthur rolled his eyes. "What do you expect? You overthrew the king, took the throne, and hurt countless people of Camelot without reason." He shook his head. There was much he wanted to say. That he had trusted her in spite of their constant bickering, cared about her. They had been friends damn it and she had thrown it away. And he didn't fully grasp why.

Hearing about the rabbits, he shook his head. "Bunnies? Really Morgana? That was the best you could taunt me with?" he shot back.

Seeing the strange pendant being held out to him, he took a step back and drew his sword, eyes instantly wary. "And how do I know I won't become possessed if I put that on?" he countered.

And now he was calling her on actions she hadn't even committed. Things she couldn't possibly explain when she hadn't lived them herself. She could understand it from a logical stand point, from reading things in her attempt to make sense of how she and Arthur had fallen so far but that didn't change the fact that she hadn't lived it herself.

"Perhaps. But I'm not her. I haven't lived that. All I know is that I was with the druids because I felt like I was going mad! That I had no one to turn to because one word and I would have been executed. I was living in fear. I don't condone what actions I apparently am to take in the future but I can see that there were very real reasons that I would have turned on Uther."

She didn't bother hiding her disgust of the man when she said his name. She had always wavered on him. But knowing what she knew? Knowing what was in store for her had he known? Please. But her emotions were already raw from the vision, from not sleeping. And now Arthur was acting all high and mighty, acting like she would ever do anything without reason and the power within her surged, the wind picking up around them. Thankfully that was all that it had been. There were no guns to go off, nothing to break.

But then he was pulling his sword on her and she just scoffed.

"Oh please. Put that away before you hurt yourself."

The wind calming down, Morgana just rolled her eyes.

"Fine. Don't believe me. It's not like you ever did before. But I'm certain you will believe Lancelot so why don't I take you to him and he can tell you the exact same thing I've been telling you."

Feeling the wind pick up, Arthur was reminded of that time in Merlin's village when his manservant's friend had conjured the wind to stop the bandits. As quickly as it came it was gone and Arthur slowly sheathed the sword. But not because she told him to. It more had to do with the fact people were staring at them.

He knew, deep down, he should apologize. Make amends for what had happened, for making her feel so isolated but pride prevented him.

"Lancealot's here?" Hearing that his fellow knight was present gave Arthur some peace of mind. Even if they both had been pursuing Gwen at one point in time.

Oh if only Arthur knew the truth. That it had been Merlin who had summoned the wind. She hadn't known it then, but she did now. She knew so much now because of their lives being out there for the world to see. Just as she knew that.. somehow, Arthur and Gwen would become king and queen. That somewhere along the lines, they had fallen for one another. Gwen who deserved so much better than Arthur. There had been a time where Morgana had thought she and the prince of Camelot might have a chance. A time when it was expected and Gwen would tease her on it. But somewhere, things had changed and she didn't know where.

But if they had isolated her in their relationship... the only two people she had ever trusted, was it so hard to believe? Morgana had never been one to trust, to open up to people. But for Arthur and Gwen, she had allowed herself to be seen as weak in attempts to protect them, to kill because of the wrongs done to them.

And then there was Lancelot. Who had taken it upon himself to sit with her all day because she'd had a vision. Because he knew the truth, he had listened... saw her for who she was, not who she pretended to be when she needed to be strong. Not for who she was in the future.

"Yes. He is. Now are you going to take the amulet or not."

Because she wanted to get back to the complex. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be doing the memory recall that night with Loki as it seemed to be something she would need to be relaxed for and she was so far from relaxed now that it would be impossible.

He glanced down at the amulet and then back to her. Making a decision, and hoping to hell he wouldn't regret it, he took the amulet and placed it around his neck. If she was telling the truth...was there even the slightest chance they could attempt to go back to the way things had been before her betrayal? Part of him hoped it so, but he felt that might never be possible.

"Where is Lancelot?" he asked, looking at her curiously. He felt exposed out here and just wanted to get somewhere less public. He rested his hands on his belt and looked at her, arching a brow to indicate she should lead the way.

Arthur didn't know how badly Morgana wanted things to go back to the way they had been. How could he? All he knew was the betrayal. And all Morgana knew was the pain of feelings isolated. Of knowing what the future held for them and that she had been dreading this day because she knew that seeing him hate her, unable to trust her, it wasn't something she was prepared for, even in knowing she'd had her reasons for what was to come to pass. So instead, she did as she always did, she appeared completely put together even when she wasn't. Because Arthur had proven he wouldn't listen to her.

Yet there he was. Though she could tell it was with great hesitation. Sure they bickered, but Arthur used to know she would never do anything to put him in danger. At least, not this her. Her future, where the only one she had to be loyal to was Morgause? Well, who knew then.

"I suspect he is either still at the complex, or out getting supplies...."

She would deal with the questions later on why they lived together. Because she was still trying to get Lancelot to stop being so stiff around her following Lydia's comments. But that morning he'd been how she'd grown used to. So as she answered the question, Morgana began leading Arthur to the complex, making sure to hold her hand out so he didn't walk into the street and get hit by a car, making sure to explain things as they went until they got to the complex.

First step. Getting a new amulet for herself.

"This is the complex. A lot of the people who show up here end up living here as it is maintained by those with money here so that you are able to adjust. They have classes to teach you how to defend yourselves. They have a medical area and gym as well as a library."

Not that Arthur was much of a reader but still. Things to point out before leading him to the stairs. Even though she didn't mind the lift terribly, she did prefer walking up the steps, if only because it was familiar. Once arriving to the apartment she shared with Lancelot, Morgana stepped in and waited for Arthur before looking around.

"It seems he is out getting supplies then."

"Complex?" he asked as they walked. "What is a...complex?" He could tell it wasn't some sort of mental disease she was referring to. So it left him with a question as to what exactly she was referring to. He had been about to cross the strange black road when Morgana stopped him and one of the wheeled beasts whizzed by and he jumped, slightly startled at the noise it made. It had him half drawing his sword and he blinked.

"What in the name of Camelot was that?" he demanded. Hearing it was something called a car, he blinked, stopping once they had crossed the street and poked at one with his sword.

Soon though they were at the complex and he looked around. He filed away what she said, wondering what a gym was. Medical area he assumed was something akin to Gaius' chambers. And a library, well, he knew what that was even if he didn't go to it often.

Following Morgana up the steps, he glanced around the room she led him to. "I'll wait for him." He glanced at her. Might as well be polite, right? "If you don't mind."

Strange how easy it was to adapt to the terminology of this place, but it was also a means of survival. And as they were the common terms, it was best to get Arthur used to them, goodness knew he was hard headed enough he'd need the constant reminders. So she didn't think much of using them when explaining things to Arthur.

Once in the apartment, she just nodded as she took off her jacket and hung it up along with her scarf.

"That is fine."

It would be hard to explain the whole living situation, how it had sprung from her fear of losing someone else, and became official once the ghosts had left, both her father and his mother seeming to have the same idea that the two should stay together. To protect one another.

"There are protections on the building to keep demons and angels out. There apparently is something coming so people are more on edge."

Something she had seen yet couldn't make sense of. Moving to the kitchen, Morgana filled a glass with water and sat it on the table.

"This is a computer. It allows you to communicate with other people here. You can type or there is a feature I believe that will allow you to speak and it will type the words for you until you get used to the technology of this place..."

Because she really didn't have the energy to deal with teaching Arthur just how to use a computer.

"Any other questions?" As going to her room and resting sounded like a wonderful idea. Given how long she'd been up and how on edge and stressed? Well, rest sounded like a lovely idea.

Hearing that she would permit him to stay (he knew she could throw him out if she wanted, magic or no. But he'd never admit such a thing), he nodded. "Thank you," he said. He listened as she spoke of protections on the building and he arched a brow. "You mean like magic and such? It keeps those that dwell here safe?" He really was trying to understand but, he was thickheaded.

Though hearing that something was coming, he gripped at his sword and nodded. He would help if he could. After all, he was all but stuck here if what Morgana said was true. He'd confirm it with Lancelot.

As she explained the computer he looked it over, frowning some in curiosity. He glanced up at her and shook his head. "None at the moment."

It was a well known ploy of the two of them. Ask the question for the sake of asking, knowing that she could keep him out if she wanted. How many times had she gotten him out of her chambers before? And never with force. She could trick him out for all she needed to do. She had done so with Mordred after all.

"Yes, that's exactly what I mean."

At least he wasn't scoffing at the idea of magic being used for evil. He was at least being open to the possibility that magic could also be used for good. If he would ever believe that of hers, who knew, but at least he might not scoff at all magic. She knew though that he would want to get the verification from Lancelot, the knight was far too honorable and noble to lie. It was why he had left in the first place. He had proven himself to Arthur so he would be a good choice of someone to confirm her claims as the Merlin here wasn't their Merlin.

Hearing that he had no questions, Morgana nodded.

"I will be in my room then. Try not to break anything."

Because she had already broken the window in her room, there was no need for him to break things on the cusp of a crisis. That said, she turned and headed down the hall to her room, closing the door behind her and closing her eyes as she leaned against the door. The Seal really did have horrid timing.
