OOC: This, is giant post of fighty doom. Subthread away, feel free to have the demons have a couple more hellhounds, no more than about 6 among everyone though, maybe a Daeva or two Meg sent down, and generally go for it with exorcisms however people decide to do them. The dead as we said can be picked up by Cara but only those we decided on. You guys know the limits on how far the fights can go etc so just have fun with it and get the good guys back to good guys, ...or..in Jacen's case, sort of good, good ish. And YES of course logs can take place in and around the same time elsewhere, aka hunts, or if the Tam's wanted a showdown etc. This is just the main battle ground.

Distraction. Little Miss riding on Daddy's reputation wanted a distraction. Then she'd have one. He'd gotten the call like everyone else. Now. It was all it said, and the demon walking around in Jacen Solo had known precicely what to do. He'd summoned some friends, pets if one had a twisted enough sense of humour. Luckily he did. Hellhounds. Two, one on either side of him, and tied up in the car Jacen was learning to drive. Vi. The Slayer. His house guest for the last little while. And she was a great deal of fun He had been told now was the time to make the distraction and as he bundled Vi out of the car near the complex and walked her in front of him still with a Force grip around her to prevent her from walking too far ahead.

"You're gonna love this, Meg's got Sam....she's got him right there and he's going to free Lucifer" he said laughing wildly as he decided to begin plan distraction by shooting back at the car they'd just got out of with a shot of lightning, blue and dangerous and all his. "He's gonna reward me, me and my sister because we were meant to be the distraction, y'know. Take the powerful ones, take the heavy hitter out of the running and I got you, I got freaking Superman out looking for me and my sisters starting fires all over the city. We're winning this war. And when Lucifer rises, you're all gonna bow to people like me" Another shot of lightning this one hitting the front of the complex and setting off the defences it had surrounding it. Ruby's magic barrier, even though she couldn't get into the damn place, alarms. But he was pretty sure there had been people out hunting him, he'd driven round a whole lot, thought about parks, thought about another warehouse but where was more distracting than right in their back yard

He supposed he could hold his own for a while but he needed the others with him He hoped they'd gotten the same message he had,  Speaking of messages, another bolt of lightning hit the door. If that wasn't a message nothing was.

She ignored wqhat he was doing, using a tangle to trap one of the demons that was starting to get up. She knew the risks. And she was out here for a reason. She saw that the tangle wouldn't hold. And she knew that Xander was pissed. But you couldn't always stay where it was safe!

"I said," she grunted throwing one of her smokebombs at the demon, momentarily causing it to lose its directional sense, "don't stop reading!" she repeated. She was fighting here, not for herself but to make certain that he stayed safe. The demon she was working now had been coming up behind him. "Not a time to stay safe," She managed to call over. She threw more holy water at them and wheeled around. She had his back. She didn't care. She would be damned if she let him get attacked while he was doing this. It had been a long time since she'd actively put herself into a battle like this, but sometimes the situation called for it. Even if it wasn't smart. Even if she knew that Bruce would have given her one hell of a lecture if he were here - not that it mattered, these days they were more on equal footing than the hero-sidekick. She had moved into her own rite now. She wasn't letting everything happen without a fight. She just kept going.

It wasn't smart. But there wasn't anyone left. Except she didn't have time to relate that to him as they kept going. She just hoped that nothing happened in the meantime! This was already messy, and she couldn't use Betsy Jr. Because it was loaded with shells. "Keep reading!" she insisted, she hit another one with the water. Neither of them had any idea what was coming... an unfortunate thing by itself.

This was insane. Babs might have been tough, but she wasn't invulnerable. Xander respected and thought that she was both highly capable and intelligent, but right now he wanted to grab the handles of her wheelchair and push her right back into the building that she had come from. Being capable didn't mean that a woman in a wheelchair could possibly get by in this mess. There were demons everywhere! And Jacen? The thing possessing Jacen? He wasn't exactly small potatoes. Even Xander wouldn't stand a chance if he decided to head their way and he wasn't looking forward to finding out what would happen if Babs got caught in his attacks. For the first time since he could remember, Xander found himself scowling at Babs. They didn't need Batman here to give her hell about what she was doing. No, Xander was going to take care of that all on his own. If they made it through this thing alive? Babs was going to hear a mouthful and then some.

For now though? Babs was right. He couldn't stop reading. Not if he wanted to make sure that they both got through this in one piece. She was already out on the field now. There was no way to get her back inside until the demons around them lessened, which meant that Xander had to trust that she wouldn't get herself killed until they did so. He shot her one final seething look, sprayed the demons in a full circle with his watergun one more time, then looked back down to the crumpled paper that he had been reading off of before. He was beyond angry now, but they had a job to do. Especially if they wanted to get out of this nightmare in one piece.

"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio!" The chanting was a good start. The demons didn't like it. They stopped in place, bodies twitching and jerking as he read out the exorcism in as loud of a voice as he could muster.

His anger didn't even register. And the truth was she would just throw it right back. Yes this was reckless, yes it was stupid. But sometimes human instincts kicked in in a fight, and even though she was in the chair? She saw that this was the only way. He would have been attacked if she hadn't gotten there.

He started reading again, the demons stopping, she tossed more holy water on them... and then it happened. It was going fine, and then she heard something and swung around in a loop to try and find where it was. But there wasn't anything there. Instincts from long ago kicked in and she covered herself, hearing something but not seeing anything, but it was too late. Something came up behind her and slammed into her, but she couldn't see anything. She could hear it though... a dog. A huge dog.

Barbara was thrown to the pavement before there was anything that she could do about it, the chair was too far to get back into. She tried desperately to get the holy water back, but couldn't and she felt something digging into her, claws. The pain was intense and she closed her eyes, trying to block it out like Bruce had taught her a million years ago, but she couldn't and she felt teeth on her arm, letting out a painful not-quite-scream. There wasn't anything there.

It was working! Black smoke was slowly beginning to pour out of the mouths of the demons surrounding them, spilling out onto the pavement and burning itself straight into the ground. They were going back to Hell and Xander, in all his Xander-like glory, was sending them there personally. That probably wasn't going to make him many demon-shaped friends in the near future, but hey. At least he and Babs weren't gonna be screwed up by them now. At least the demons weren't going to screw them up. No one ever said anything about invisible monsters that would pop up out of nowhere and attack Babs while Xander was distracted. First, he heard the growl. Then when a body hit pavement - one that didn't belong to the already fallen bodies of the demons that he had just finished with - Xander turned quickly, only to find Babs sprawled across the pavement and writhing in agony. The watergun fell from his hand, smacking against the ground carelessly as Xander began to run.

Something invisible was ripping her apart. He didn't know if it was magic, he didn't know if there was actually something there - whatever the case, something was attacking Babs. Xander had to stop it. He had to kill it before whatever it was killed Babs first! Reaching around his back, Xander wrapped his fingers around the handle of a different type of gun. He hadn't used this one before because he wasn't interested in harming the innocents locked away inside of their own bodies by those demons. But now? Now Xander didn't care what it was. Not when that something was killing his friend.

"Don't move, Babs!" Xander aimed the gun. Then hesitated. Where was he supposed to shoot?!

She could feel the claws digging into her skin. She tried to scream or something but nothing came out. She couldn't even move her legs to try and throw it off. She was pinned. She could feel the weight pressing on her chest, crushing her and pulling her apart at the same time.

It was hard to breathe, she could feel air warm against her skin and it terrified her as the teeth clamped harder on her arm and there was blood, she could see it now. The claws digging into her chest. She heard Xander yell something but she could barely make out the words through the pain that was shooting in her head.

She could see the gun, her eyes moving to him, thinking of trying to get it off but as if on delay she realized what he said. She could feel the blood running down her side, down her arm and things were starting to get fuzzy... Her eyes asking him to just do it! Pull the damn trigger! Get this ... she figured it had to be a dog. She'd had one as a child. It had been a large dog. Before her parents died... why was she thinking about this now? When she was eight it had jumped on her and knocked her over. The weight was similar but it was crushing her. Like it was its purpose... And it was crushing her chest. She could feel something wet running down the side of her face... This was it. She couldn't grab the holy water as the claws dug deeper... everything was fading.

Xander threw himself at the invisible creature that was mounted on top of Babs. Definitely a creature. Magic didn't exactly need to form a figure to do it's bidding. Not always, in his experience. If one was clever enough with their spells, they could just make a person rip apart by themselves without having to put the effort in to make a creature invisible to get at someone. But then again, Xander didn't know too much about magic to begin with. Nonetheless, whatever Xander's body smacked into definitely didn't feel like something that could have existed solely through magic. It felt real. Like a living, breathing creature...only it couldn't be seen. It was large, it was strong, and it easily sent Xander flying backwards and into the air. His shoulder slammed into the side of a car, glass crumbling under his body on impact. The creature growled in fury and Xander slid off the car and began to fire his gun.

He must have hit something, because eventually Xander heard a loud yelp. Rather than being attacked outright, he found that he was left standing in the middle of the street waiting for absolutely nothing to attack him. Stunned, Xander ignored the pain in his shoulders and looked back to Babs. There was an entire battle going on all around them. People were screaming. They were fighting. But the only thing that Xander could see was Babs; covered in blood, ripped through, and looking for all the world like she had been completely destroyed. Was she...? No. No.

Xander fell to her side and reached for her shoulder. "Babs? Babs?" She needed a doctor. Oh God. Where was Martha?

Barbara could hear him. It wasn't clear. It was very dark, very hazy, and she knew that something was very wrong. This couldn't have been it. She didn't have any control of her upper body and she couldn't say anything. She just felt limp, almost like she was floating, or waiting, and for the life of her there was nothing she could do. Her body wasn't her own. Sometimes, as it seemed to show, doing what at the time seemed right could have dire consequences. And had she been able to think actively, she would have realized these things and possibly remembered other instances of the same lesson.

She couldn't feel anything. One of her fingers twitched slightly. She was fighting, trying to fight it anyway. The fading, the darkness, whatever you wanted to call it. She was trying to fight. The weight was gone from her chest, but left behind a wound that was deep and long, and lungs that no longer seemed capable of breathing. She was in immense pain and couldn't utter a sound, nothing. She was dying. She did not want his. She wanted to stay , but he harder she fought the worse it got and the faster she went. The cold was creeping up on her. Trying to hold onto that last breath everything caught up to her and she felt... nothing. There was just avoid.

And Barbara Gordon was dead.

It didn't take a genius to determine the severity of the situation. There was a grown man slumped over a broken woman, clinging to her body as though it were the last thing on earth that mattered. The look of despair etched into his features, even from a distance, happened to be all that Cara required to determine what was going on. The woman was dead. Cara could have walked away; she could have rolled her eyes, as expected, and continued on with her battle. Yet, deep down, something itched at her. They need your help, a voice urged, sounding very much like that of no other than the Seeker himself. At that, Cara did roll her eyes. Richard might not have been here in physical form, but he was indeed present in spirit. Cursing the Maker under her breath, Cara knocked a demon aside with the power of her Agiel and made her way toward the duo with a sense of duty. She was doing this because she had vowed to serve the Seeker. That was all.

"If you want her to live, you will move," Cara said sternly, kneeling down beside Xander. For a moment, Cara didn't think that he was going to listen. Xander pulled Babs into his arms defensively, eyes snapping into a glare. He didn't trust her. But he knew that she was one of them. Perhaps that was why, after a moment of hesitation, Xander carefully placed Babs' body on the ground and leaned back. Cara shifted ahead and tilted Babs' head to the side. Xander began questioning her from over her shoulder, but rather than responding Cara leaned in and began to distribute the breath of life right into Babs' mouth and straight down her throat.

She would wake in good time. But not without injury. And certainly not without the memory of her demise. Pushing to her feet, Cara lifted her Agiels and walked straight back into the battle without another word, leaving a stunned Xander behind.

There was nothing. Nothing at all. And then... there was. She couldn't make any sounds. If she'd been thinking it would have reminded her of coming out of being unconscious, but her brain hadn't started working. She could barely even justify where she was, as her minds lowly started working. Something felt wrong. IT hurt. Or was it the remnants of pain she had felt. No it was pain. Serious pain, shooting down her body.

The ground was hard under her and she tried to move a hand, a finger... something. Her breathing was weak, but getting stronger only it hurt to breathe. She could hear yelling around her. And it started to come back. Feeling something wet on her , around her... it took a shot while before she could open he eyes. "Uhhh." it was a quiet noise, all she could make. She had no idea how long she'd been out, but the pain was immense, reminiscent of the last major altercation she'd had... It felt like dying. and... she had. How much time had elapsed, how long had it been... how had it happened?! She couldn't move to push herself up, she managed to move her fingers a little - the world starting to come back into focus.
