Xander - Babs ; Cara (later)
She ignored wqhat he was doing, using a tangle to trap one of the demons that was starting to get up. She knew the risks. And she was out here for a reason. She saw that the tangle wouldn't hold. And she knew that Xander was pissed. But you couldn't always stay where it was safe!
"I said," she grunted throwing one of her smokebombs at the demon, momentarily causing it to lose its directional sense, "don't stop reading!" she repeated. She was fighting here, not for herself but to make certain that he stayed safe. The demon she was working now had been coming up behind him. "Not a time to stay safe," She managed to call over. She threw more holy water at them and wheeled around. She had his back. She didn't care. She would be damned if she let him get attacked while he was doing this. It had been a long time since she'd actively put herself into a battle like this, but sometimes the situation called for it. Even if it wasn't smart. Even if she knew that Bruce would have given her one hell of a lecture if he were here - not that it mattered, these days they were more on equal footing than the hero-sidekick. She had moved into her own rite now. She wasn't letting everything happen without a fight. She just kept going.
It wasn't smart. But there wasn't anyone left. Except she didn't have time to relate that to him as they kept going. She just hoped that nothing happened in the meantime! This was already messy, and she couldn't use Betsy Jr. Because it was loaded with shells. "Keep reading!" she insisted, she hit another one with the water. Neither of them had any idea what was coming... an unfortunate thing by itself.
