Xander - Babs ; Cara (later)
It didn't take a genius to determine the severity of the situation. There was a grown man slumped over a broken woman, clinging to her body as though it were the last thing on earth that mattered. The look of despair etched into his features, even from a distance, happened to be all that Cara required to determine what was going on. The woman was dead. Cara could have walked away; she could have rolled her eyes, as expected, and continued on with her battle. Yet, deep down, something itched at her. They need your help, a voice urged, sounding very much like that of no other than the Seeker himself. At that, Cara did roll her eyes. Richard might not have been here in physical form, but he was indeed present in spirit. Cursing the Maker under her breath, Cara knocked a demon aside with the power of her Agiel and made her way toward the duo with a sense of duty. She was doing this because she had vowed to serve the Seeker. That was all.
"If you want her to live, you will move," Cara said sternly, kneeling down beside Xander. For a moment, Cara didn't think that he was going to listen. Xander pulled Babs into his arms defensively, eyes snapping into a glare. He didn't trust her. But he knew that she was one of them. Perhaps that was why, after a moment of hesitation, Xander carefully placed Babs' body on the ground and leaned back. Cara shifted ahead and tilted Babs' head to the side. Xander began questioning her from over her shoulder, but rather than responding Cara leaned in and began to distribute the breath of life right into Babs' mouth and straight down her throat.
She would wake in good time. But not without injury. And certainly not without the memory of her demise. Pushing to her feet, Cara lifted her Agiels and walked straight back into the battle without another word, leaving a stunned Xander behind.
