And no where is booming with more steam and power than the fast-paced city of London, where the rich carry on with their high-society lives while the poor rot in the slums. But there’s more going on in London than just the vast divides of the social classes. It’s been just over have a century since the Supernatural Integration, when beings of the unnatural entered public awareness and became the talk of nations. Now society has become a tapestry of mundane humans, vampiric nobles, gentry that sprout fur and fangs during the fool moon, and men who can make themselves vanish before your very eyes. Between all the magic, the science, and the alchemical innovation pervading London, the 19th century is shaping up to truly be an era of miracles, marvels, and more than a little danger.
WELCOME TO AD OBSCURA, a supernatural steampunk RPG, set at the apex of the Victorian Era, where the nights are dark, the city is booming, and one can never be quite sure just what one is holding court with.

They kept them chained in Willowbrook State School, or "Willowbrook Asylum" as it was more accurately called by inhabitants of Staten Island. Yes - what all the residents of New York City thought was a well-meaning school for mentally handicapped children was really a house of torture. That was until 26 years ago when the mutants rebelled and took over Willowbrook. Some mutants chose to stay and form the Centurions, a group dedicated to training mutants and remaining hidden away from humans - and to just live their lives. Others, however, left and formed the Syndicate, deciding that they could never forgive humans and instead wanted to take control of them - to take over the world. Madison Valley is a small Midwestern town, snuggled in the hills of the Ohio River Valley. Peaceful and calm, it is the kind of place people move to raise their children, or where people retire to find peace away from the big city. It is a place devoid of crime, where doors are left unlocked and everyone knows everyone else. Only lately, something strange has happened to Madison Valley. The natives have found themselves unable to leave the town, and strange people have been arriving - people formerly thought to be fictional. The only possible explanation put forth by the townspeople is that the possible testing of strange and experimental weapons at the Army Proving Ground to the north of town has somehow put the town at the middle of a dimensional nexus from which people from all different times and all different universes are drawn. While the citizens of Madison Valley were at first welcoming, fear has begun to spread in the hearts of the natives. The strange people arriving - with their odd faces and their terrifying powers - have caused the City Council to crack down on the Refugees, demanding a registry, blood samples for employment, and other draconian requirements. The refugees must decide whether they will try to live 'under the table' or whether to give in to the city's terrifying demands. Some have given in, found jobs, and made themselves relatively comfortable. Some have found jobs that agree with the resistance, and refuse to report them. Some have tried to scrape by without working at all. But all - refugees and townspeople alike - have in common the strange situation in which they find themselves, and the desire to find a way out... Will it be enough to overcome their differences?
