Every version of the story is different. The conversations, the tiny details; they're all told in their own way, with different twists and turns and points delivered to properly execute the tale. The story has changed over time, repeatedly leading those belonging to different cultures with opposing beliefs clashing over the subject for hundreds upon hundreds of years. In the end, however, the story never really matters. It's the name, the significance, the idea of what he represents that strikes nothing short of pure terror into the heart of man.

Lucifer. The fallen.

As the angels tell it, it was his refusal to bow to humanity that brought on his fate. He believed that the angels were better, finding God's favoritism toward the mortal beings that walked the earth to be nothing short of distasteful. In turn, Lucifer chose to rebel by wickedly twisting a human into a demon. Rather than bringing forth the change in order as he had hoped, Lucifer instead found himself being punished by God for his disobedience. Delivered from the heavens, Lucifer was forced into a new home - a seemingly impenetrable cage trapped within the fiery depths of Hell. Six hundred seals bound Lucifer to his cage. Six hundred. Only sixty-six, if done correctly, would be required to break in order to free Lucifer from damnation. Thousands of years later, as prophesied, a righteous man shed blood in Hell. Against the torment that found him in the pits, Dean Winchester began to crumble. The very first seal was quick to follow, breaking the pathway to all others like it open to those who sought to free the fallen from his chains at last. Demons began to rise up, led by Lilith - Lucifer's First, the very human that he twisted into a demonic form that brought forth his own downfall - to break the seals. At the same time, perhaps the first in thousands of years, angels too began to route themselves toward the seals to oppose any and all who dared attempt to destroy them. A silent battle, unknown to most of humanity, waged on between the angels and demons.

In the middle of it all, stood two brothers. Each with a role to play, both with the best of intentions at heart. With the angels pushing at one side and a demon guiding the other, the Winchester brothers, too, fought against the demons, steadily gunning their way toward Lilith. The Winchesters were key players in the struggle between Heaven and Hell. That had been anticipated from the beginning. What no one expected was for the impossible to occur: while bordering a little ways short of the halfway point, Lilith destroyed the thirtieth seal and, upon doing so, unknowingly shattered a barrier between worlds. Soon afterward, people from those worlds began to appear out of thin air.

It has been a year since seal number thirty was destroyed. Since then, dozens of people from different universes - good and evil alike - have poured through the cracks in the universes that the seal created, dropping straight into the world that Lilith so eagerly sought to destroy. Those brought through the seal proved to be nothing short of a challenge for Lilith, but with a clever plan already set into motion, Lilith managed to trick one of the Winchester brothers into breaking the final seal. In doing so, Lilith was killed; Lucifer, however, was freed from his cage for the first time in thousands of years. With nothing more than vengeance set in his heart against God and all of humanity, Lucifer began to work. War would no longer be coming; with Lucifer up top and his apocalypse well on the way, it is finally here.

Lima, OH looks like any other small town in the middle of America. It's citizens are the epitome of normal, and nothing much ever happens. But things are not all as they appear in this small town, and things are far from normal. 60 years ago, during the height of the McCarthy-era, Lima was turned from a normal, all-American town into a holding area for people with...abilities. A statue was erected in the center of town that suppressed these powers, and over time people forgot they'd ever been different.

On July 4th, 2011, 60 years to the day the statue was erected, a freak lightning storm swept through town. The damage to Lima itself was minimal, but the statue was destroyed. For weeks, no one noticed anything was different, until one day...it was. No one quite knows who was the first, but by the time August began nearly every teenager in Lima was exhibiting odd...symptoms. Headaches, fevers, vomiting...people thought it was just a massive flu outbreak, but the truth was far more than that.

And then suddenly...the symptoms stopped. Almost as if they'd never been there to begin with. Things went back to normal, a new statue was put up in place of the old one, and life went on. But this statue wasn't like the old one, made of simple stone and plaster, and nature can only go so long before correcting itself.

For the players: As of game start, no one will have powers. They will develop slowly over the course of the game and at different rates for different characters. More information can be found in the powers post.

X-Project is an X-Men movieverse RPG on Livejournal. Set after X2, we've been running since May 2003 and use a combination of in-character journals and email/IM logs. Twenty-five years after the fateful Tournament, the political atmosphere in Britain and Europe had changed drastically. The threat of the Dark wizard known as Lord Voldemort had disappeared, and in the years following the triumph, governments arose that were much more focused on cooperation and tolerance among wizards and witches at home and internationally. In 2019, a contingent of people led by Second Wizarding War hero Harry Potter and Bulgarian Quidditch superstar Viktor Krum formed, eager to encourage the next generation to focus on others' similarities rather than their differences. Both leaders spoke eloquently of the lasting friendships they had made and the valuable lessons they had learned during the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. They advocated a replacement event for the student population.

With the assistance of the International Association of Quidditch, three years later, the inaugural Junior International Quidditch Tournament is set to begin. Four Quidditch teams representing their schools will compete against each other in a series of matches throughout the academic year, with two finals at the end of the year to determine the overall winner. And alongside all the Quidditch fever that is sure to grip the castle, the typical difficulties of an academic year at Hogwarts must still be traversed: exams, friendships, romance, and antics. Can they handle the pressure?

Feinted is a canon-compliant next-gen role-playing game set at Hogwarts during the school year 2022–2023. Opens 19 August.

In a school built for the cultivation, control, and understanding of individuals with powers, it's easy to see why Byrne would be the focus of international attention.

On the brink of such an exciting time, with endless possibilities spread out in front of them, many students begin to discuss where their futures may lead. Some have learned to hide their powers and wish to join the world of "normal" humans. Others secretly court the Chaos Syndicate, and with plans to exploit their natural talents for fortune and power. Robin Hood: I'm looking for a Sheriff of Nottingham to play against my Maid Marion OR an OFC in an AUish sort of romance/angst/adventure plot where good and evil are alot less well defined.

Harry Potter - Post DH or set during the war. Might get dark. Very interested in playing with Lucius Malfoy or Severus Snape against my OFC. Will play any male in return!

X-Files: I'd like a mytharc heavy plot, and if you would play Fox Mulder and maybe Alex Krycek for me, then I will provide you not only with Scully, but any other characters needed.
