The outcome is known, but how was it reached?

In late spring of 1997, Albus Dumbledore was killed by Severus Snape, and the Wizarding World changed. Hallowed Ground is an RPG community for writers interested in exploring the intricacies of what followed, reaching deep beyond what's already known. Deathly Hallows has provided us a road map to our destination but the journey is ours to write, ours to fill in and flesh out. Come discover where everyone who wasn't Ron, Harry, or Hermione went after fleeing Bill & Fleur's wedding, listen to the Sorting Hat's song for a new Headmaster, watch the DA reform and scheme up protests to the Carrows reign, the Death Eaters plan attacks on Muggle and Wizarding societies from inside the Ministry of Magic, and members of the Order of the Phoenix strive to keep a light shining in the dark. Join us in our endeavor to develop the adventures unseen as time winds down to a final battle unlike any writing experience you've had.

Hallowed Ground is searching for the absolute fullest compliment of cast possible. We accept any character mentioned in the seven Harry Potter books who is known to be alive on 1 July, 1997, and encourage insightful takes on both characters we know loads about and particularly ones we've barely met. The game will be played in real time, with some flexing as we approach the holiday season to allow for players' personal schedules. It is set to start 1 November, 2008 (1 July, 1997 in game) and end 19 August, 2009 (19 April 1998 in game), with as much time as is needed after to properly finish threads. Applications are being accepted now; both so that our players have time to get to know each other before we begin, and also so that we might get a majority of characters cast before the stories start, as it's harder to justify adding a character after significant events have passed unplayed. Players are asked to work with canon to develop their own path through the known story lines as we write, as there is already so much available room to maneuver.

Writers interested in applying should know that this will be a very community oriented game, with opportunities to develop friendships, contribute ideas, help see them to fruition, and have your voice heard. Moderating will be done by a council of founders to start, with elected players rotating the founders as we progress, preventing power trips and encouraging player participation while still providing the necessary assistance and guidance to make a game run smoothly. Experience is not required; we firmly believe that a writer brand new to RPG can develop a character fabulously and fully. Seasoned players are also happily accepted with their favourite known characters or brand new explorations, now is your chance to let someone new invade your brain! If everyone knew 1984 was when everything was going to happen, why was no one prepared?
Hexennacht is an alternate universe MWPP game set in 1985; a world where Gellert Grindelwald is now the Minister of Magic for all of Europe, and Muggleborn wizards live in fear of the Black Caps, Grindelwald's personal army, charged with keeping the Muggles and wizards alike in line. Hexennacht begins with the latest decree restricting magic allowed by Muggleborn wizards to the simplest forms of magic, while the purebloods are allowed to get away with murder. With the Death Eaters on the run, Voldemort in Azkaban with no hope of getting out, and the Order in hiding, along with the remains of their single ally, a former terrorist organization, is there any hope of restoring Europe to a land of tolerance?

Genetic mutation has always been a dirty little secret, one that wasn't easily kept. The government used to be in control of these anomalies, but there was a large jump in numbers at the turn of the millennium. More and more children were coming up with signs of genetic mutation, and blame was being placed everywhere it could be. Government testing, herbal supplements, a new enemy's war tactic, global warming, and the breakdown of the genetic structure itself. There was no explanation to give the families of those changed, and the government's only suggested cure was containment. (continued) It seemed like things were going to change for the better after the death of President McCannials. Miles Griffin took the office gladly, with an image of hope for the mutants. He'd brought back their rights, given them their lives back. The hospital was gone, and seemingly, the testing had stopped. But, Miles Griffin had other plans down his sleeve. By giving them their rights back, the mutants could be used in Government and Military means. Shortly after the downfall of the first mutant hospital, mutants began disappearing again. This rang many bells to the world, wondering why, on earth, mutants were disappearing. And in such large numbers, too.

Throughout time each culture has had their own way of passing down the morals of society to the newest additions—their children. Each culture had different tales of characters who strayed from the right, to follow the wrong—or those who had stood up for what was right. They have taught countless generations the differences between good and evil, strength and weakness, courage and cowardice. Morality all rolled up into nice little slices of adventure, romance, deceit, and betrayal. But what happens after "happily ever after"? When the page is turned the characters do not sit idly by and wait.

Once upon a time they stepped from the pages into our world, immortal and powerful and free to do as they would - heroes and villains alike - and began to live like mortals. At first they were pure Tales in human form, princesses and evil stepmothers and knights in shining armor thrown into a reality they couldn't fathom, but as time passed the lines started to blur. They learned how the real world works and were forced to adapt—or to attempt to make the world conform to them.

They are not trapped, however. Part and parcel with their power is the ability to change. If Snow White fell in love with a mortal she could abandon her powers and pass them on, becoming fully human and living out a normal life from that point on. The reasons vary, and not everyone has motivations that are so pure; for some it was a means to an end—giving a villain a greater chance to seize power and hold sway over others—but for most, it simply allowed them to live out the life they'd made for themselves in the mortal world. The Tale lived, then, in another body, and the story could continue. And while some took the responsibility seriously and strove to choose their predecessor well, others were careless and wreaked havoc. Some have chosen not to pass on their magic at all.

For the new Tales, then, life becomes different. They are now immortal, gaining abilities they'd never thought possible, and have both the memories of their own previous life and of the Tale that they, now, have lived. It can be just as painful as when they stepped out of the Tales in their first form, especially if their predecessor did not choose wisely...

2108, the world.

Two hundred years from bloody wars, social strife and human suffering, the world is no longer a separation of entities. Countries with borders do not exist and ethnic divisions no longer apply; immigration and socialism have made the world a virtual paradise—equality for all, unlimited natural resources since man’s ascension to the stars—it is, without a doubt, peace on earth.

2208, the future.

It is not the future of Orwell’s 1984 or even Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451; there is no Big Brother who watches a quaking population tirelessly through devices in building’s walls or human eyes themselves, there are no book-censoring firemen. The government does not oppress the people, but instead it is the people who oppress the government. And it is all done in a single city.

China, once an economic powerhouse and a sleeping dragon destined one day to awaken is now home to the only political center in the world. The Forbidden City, once the throne of dynastic emperors now houses The Imperial Family, its royal court, and all the governing heads required to serve the people.

Selected nearly one hundred years ago through genetic technology and raised by advanced social systems, the first emperor was installed in The City as a servant of the people. His first wife, chosen in a similar manner, was placed beside him as empress, and the city was filled with people who would serve the world as the population demanded. All of the emperor’s children are raised strictly with the beliefs of the world community, which consists of a mixture of tradition and forward thinking that serves the chosen version of utopia best. When it is time to choose a new leader—whether or not the current emperor has died, abdicated, or simply lost the Mandate of Heaven—one is selected from the Emperor’s children based on genetic, emotional, and social screening.

Of course, The Forbidden City is perhaps the one place in the universe that is home to all of humanity’s strife. And that is its destiny.

In 1975, as Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs (better known as the Marauders, at least to themselves) enter their 5th year at Hogwarts, the wizarding world as they know it is slowly changing.

Like the first touch of cool rain, dark whisperings are beginning to be heard among wizards, particularly those of the oldest pureblooded families. Something is coming - and as it arrives, the whispers will rise to voices, and eventually all wizards of the world will hear the echoes of screams.

Dark Voices follows the students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as they learn to adapt to a changing world. Making friends, forming alliances, standing for what they believe in, and all hoping that they will be left standing in the end.

A new-ish game with over 30 characters, Dark Voices is looking for some more Order members to balance out the Death Eaters, and more female Hogwarts students, as there are a lot more boys right now! Hogwarts professors are also welcome.

1926, Towertown, Chicago.

Prohibition's in full force, and the mob rule the streets. Speakeasy bars and dance halls thrive, serving illegal liquor, playing hot jazz, funding the mob and dodging the law. Go to a blind pig or some other dive, you'll find them serving moonshine whiskey or bathtub gin in cracked teacups. We're better than that. Half the Chicago PD drink here, The Fury's a top-notch joint. Specialist, too, which you've maybe noticed. Drinking alcohol's not the only illegal activity goes on here. We're a screwed up set, but it works. Everyone's got dirt on everyone else, and there's not one of us dares spill it for what the rest have got on us.

That's all swell, but there's trouble on the horizon. There's a new guy in town. An Irishman. Trying to muscle in on territory, carve out his own place in Chicago's underworld, and carve is the right word. A body's been delivered to The Fury's doorstep, and the last shipment of liquor got itself intercepted before hitting the docks. The game's in play, and no one knows where the next move's going to end. One thing's for sure: no one's going down without a hell of a fight.

Six years after the Battle of Hogwarts in which the Dark Lord Voldemort was defeated by the infamous Harry Potter, the lives of those affected by the war are returning to normalcy. The Ministry has been rebuilt, government restored to it's original status with security in place that most wouldn't have dreamed of more than half a decade ago.

Loved ones were lost, but over the years the date of the victory had become a memorial, and those who had fought against the Dark Lord and his followers were recognized as heroes for everything they had done. Some of them returned to work at the Ministry, others got married and started families, and the elite returned to their places in the Quidditch League.

Present day United States of America seems completely normal; no disturbances, no terrorist attacks, nothing. But something is rotten in the state of New York. It wasn't too long after Sailor Moon's death that a new negative energy began collecting power, biding its time before it could spring out and hold the merciless universe within its clutches. And with no sailor senshi or shitennou to stop it, what was standing in its way? Though not strong enough to enact its plan just yet, The Darkness took root in busy New York City, quickly feeding off of energy from the millions of citizens and tourists who walked the streets everyday, completely unsuspecting. However, this new negative energy isn't going unnoticed by everyone...as The Darkness settled itself into the city, the sailor crystals and seeds that Usagi had sent to the future are realizing that the universe is in danger and are thus beginning to reawaken their owners. And much as she had predicted, the good guys aren't the only ones reawakening. Being beckoned forward by The Darkness, the seeds and crystals within former villains are starting to reawaken too. Not only that, but entirely new villains are being recruited by this new enemy, only making The Darkness's army that much stronger; possibly even stronger than Usagi had anticipated. Three years have come and passed since group seven was separated by that painful day Sasuke left the Leaf Village. While Naruto left with the Toad Sage Jiraya in order to train for the inevitable battle between the Leaf and Sound village, Konoha with all of its occupants was taking a change of themselves. Sakura became the star pupil of the 5th Hokage herself, bonds between outer villages like the Sand were beginning to strengthen, and many of the chunnin and jounin had to multiply their efforts for anything that might be thrown against them. Not only was Orochimaru's wrath their fear, but also the Akatsuki. After a while, alliances between the Sand and Leaf were becoming more prominent, attacks on both fronts were something the two villages shared along with reconstruction. It isn't a rare sight to see a building crumble due to a secret attack, despite the fact many live in fear, there are still those few Ninjas that feel it is their given right to protect their village. We know them as heroes. This is where you come in. Do you have what it takes to be a hero? Do you know what you are fighting for? Can you sacrifice everything to save your village? It all depends on you, whether you make friends, destroy them, or heck even win over them. Every village has their ninja's, are you sure you can be a hero?

Imagine a world where heroes no longer exist and the only way for the streets to become safe again is for one family to rise above the rest. Everyone has an allegiance here, the neutral don’t stay that way or alive for long. Each member of the police force is bought and paid for by someone, so there’s no point in calling when trouble comes knocking at the door.

The year is 2025 and Chicago doesn’t sparkle as it once did. Everything is dirtier, grittier and more worn down than the pictures in the history books like to show. Glitz and glamour have no place here because a war is brewing in the shadows. Bullet holes and dried blood litter the city’s streets and no one thinks twice if a person is gunned down a few feet away. But it wasn't always like that.

For years the Irish, Russians and Italians occupied the city on what could be considered "friendly" terms. Patrick O'Meara saw to it that the peace was kept and that each group saw to their own affairs. Each stayed out of the other's way and if someone stepped out of line, meetings between the heads of the families were called and it was settled quietly behind closed doors. Thanks to O'Meara, they were all able to coexist peacefully enough. Well, right up until someone decided to pull the trigger and open Pandora's box.

Dante Morelli, son of the Italian crime boss Antonio "Tony" Morelli, was the one who decided to take matters into his own hands. A lifelong grudge held against O'Meara's son fueled his plan for revenge and without consulting any of the elders, took a few of his most trusted soldiers and put an end to Patrick O'Meara's life. It was only a matter of time before chaos ensued and more blood was shed. No one knows exactly who pulled the trigger, but then again, it really doesn't matter.

Now, Conor O'Meara has been called back from Ireland to lead in his father's place and enact a little revenge of his own. All bets are off and both the Irish and Italians are gunning for each other while the Russian's, with a little meddling of their own mixed in of course, sit back and wait for the smoke to clear.

So who will it be? The Italians who specialize in drug trading and follow a list of commandments? The Russians who are notorious for underground operations and clean transactions? Or the Irish who are perhaps the oldest and most organized crime group in the city? The choice is yours and without it, you might as well be dead.

After the death of fellow team member Jean Grey, things haven't been the same. The incident with Xavier and the replica of a machine known as Cerebro, were immediately blamed as being a source of contention across the world. Assuming that it was a so-called act of mutant violence, the President of the United States began trying to pass the Mutant Registration Act (MRA), a system that would require a ` mark ` on many public files and outcast mutants in society. It would not pass through Congress. Senator Kelly, one of the major members of Congress was a stout defender of mutant rights. He also knew that Professor Xavier‘s School was indeed a haven for young, scared boys and girls to go and learn about these strange new abilities. He was the only true mediator for mutants and humans alike. But, the President was not impressed, and called in a favor by the Brotherhood of Evil. The Brotherhood accepted, and upon the next election in November, Senator Kelly was brutally assassinated. The death of the Senator caused not only anger among mutants but also humans as well. With looming anti-mutant rallies, the MRA was brought up to Congress once more and was quickly passed. Soon, 25% of the mutant population unemployed within three weeks, the percentage soon doubled as jobs became extinct to the mutant population, the humans had deemed them too dangerous. ( read more )

Human teachers also wanted! EMMA FROST, White Queen, where art thou!?! She's VERY important. If you play Emma, or have aspirations to try her, give her a shot. Mundus District, located in the city of London.....Ontario.
Odd and strange things have been happening in the district. Its been receiving new tennents...they just don't know it yet.

All over the world, people have been falling asleep in their homes, only to wake up in a new apartment, on a street they don't recognize.

No one seems to know why, but who would really care? London is a wonderful place, just off of Lake Huron. The rooms have everything they need, and the city is full of fun and interesting things to do.

Bars, casinos, fine dining, ample employment....what will you do with your stay in Mundus District?
