Entry tags:adrian pucey, hannah abbott, rodolphus lestrange

Who: Hannah Abbott, Adrian Pucey, and Rodolphus Lestrange
Where: Hannah’s flat.
What: Stuff like Hannah getting kidnaped.

Hannah rubbed her eyes tiredly with one hand while she searched through her purse to find the key to her flat with the other. The keys were a new thing. Normally, she would just use a locking charm that was personalized to her flat. However, since her magic had all but disappeared, she had been forced to turn to the inconvenient use of jingling mental in her pocket that of which she seemed to lose at least once a day. She missed being able to use magic, but the Healers couldn’t seem to find the source of the problem, even after she had been forced to endure an afternoon of testing. She was trying not to worry about it. Too much anyway.

Finally, after what seemed to have been an eternity of searching, Hannah’s fingers latched onto the key deep within her purse. Letting out a sigh of relief, she pushed the key into the lock, and after much fiddling and a frustrated stomp of her foot, the blonde was able to push the door open. Looking forward to a nice cup of tea after what had been a long day, Hannah turned on the lights, threw her purse and jacket onto the back of her sofa, and moved towards the kitchen. It was just after she turned on the second light that the former Hufflepuff felt, or rather thought she had heard something. Stopping dead in her tracks, Hannah turned and looked around with wide eyes.

“Hello?” she called out hesitantly, her hand automatically reaching for her wand. Not seeing anything at first, Hannah shrugged, simply blaming it on her imagination.

Getting into Abbott's apartment had been alarmingly simple. There were no wards on her door and after four or five checks, no wards about the apartment either. It hadn't really occurred to Adrian that even though the young witch was currently magic-less, she wouldn't have found someone else to put up the necessary protection. Then again, maybe not everyone was as paranoid as he was.

He glanced about the apartment and then helped himself to a pastry and a drink. The pastries would probably go stale while she was gone, so it really was better someone ate them. Hell, maybe he'd take the whole thing with them when he port-keyed out. Licking his fingers, he took a seat on a chair in her sitting room and thoughtlessly wiped his hands on the upholstery.

With Hannah's muggle-like entry, Adrian had more than enough time to settle back comfortably, right his mask, and wait to see if she'd notice him.

"Wasn't sure you were going to show. I don't think my master would have been very pleased if you hadn't."

Hannah gave a startled noise that must have sounded a bit like a yelp. She really hadn’t expected anyone to respond. “M-m-master,” she stuttered, while her eyes darted around quickly as though expecting another person to jump out at her. Her heart pounding, the blonde began to back up slightly, while trying to figure out how he might have been able to get in. She did note however, from the snack he seemed to have set up, that he had been there quite awhile.

“Who are you?” she questioned, her voice a bit steadier this time, although not by much. The mask did nothing to help her nerves, reminding her too much of Voldemort’s Death Eaters and the incident at the World Cup. Deciding that his answer didn’t much matter, she attempted to apparate, figuring that it was best to simply ask questions later. However, that didn’t quite work, and instead of finding herself in a safe place, she was on her knees two feet away and still in her kitchen. “What do you want?” she asked hoping to distract him as she climbed shakily to her feet.

Adrian watched her antics calmly, one eyebrow raised in amusement. He roared out his laughter though at her attempt to apparate

"Careful, girl, I can't have you splinching yourself. Although you on your knees is quite the pretty sight." He wouldn't really harm Hannah, but there was no point in her getting comfortable around him. He was on the clock, so to speak.

"What I want is very simple and painless, so stop trembling, and I won't have to hurt you." He pushed himself to his feet, wand harmlessly at his side. "I just need you to come with me for a while. We can do that the easy way or the hard way- that's up to you alone."

He took a slow step towards her and raised his wandless hand as if beckoning.

Hannah bit her lip and hoped she wouldn’t start to cry. It was something she did when she was nervous or scared, and she thought she already had enough things that were against her. Magic included. Ignoring his laughter, Hannah attempted to get her worried mind to focus on his words and not on how hopeless her situation was.

“Why?” she asked suddenly feeling quite silly. Here she was, a grown witch, although lacking magic, playing twenty questions with a guy in a mask that had broken into her flat. “W-why would I do that?” She stumbled backwards into a wall when he took a step towards her. “What do you want?” Hannah repeated, although she doubted he would specify his answer. Behind her back, she attempted to silently reach for one of the cooking utensils she kept hanging on the walls. Just in case he attempted to attack her.

"There's someone who wants to see you. You'll be quite lucrative for our operation, you see." He grinned despite the mask and continued slowly moving forward, inching really. "But I'm afraid I can't answer all your questions, that would quite ruin the surprise. You'll like my master, he will keep you well."

Noting Hannah's hand creeping behind her, he shot a quick spell off in an attempt to send the cooking utensils clattering uselessly onto the floor. He was certain he could overpower the witch, but he'd rather not take the chances.

"There's only so far against the wall you can go. You know I have the upper hand." He was now only a meter or so from Hannah, his hand still outstretched. "Make this easy, take my hand and we'll leave. I can assure you, you'll be back to your flat in no time."

Well, of course he couldn't assure that.

Operation. That didn’t sound good. Especially when headed by guys in masks that called their boss ‘Master.’ And there was that word again. Master. “Who is he then? Your Master?” she questioned, before ducking suddenly and covering her head when she heard the potential weapons clatter to the ground. Her eyes did flicker to his outstretched hand, staring at it as she contemplated his words. That maybe, just maybe he was telling the truth and they had no reason to harm her. But she really had no way to tell, and no way to protect herself if things went wrong. Hannah shook her head.

“Look,” she started, grabbing a large, metal spoon from the pile as she straightened. Hannah doubted it would do much good, but she needed to have something. Anything really, to at least give herself the illusion that she had a way to protect herself. “If it’s money you want, then take it. It’s yours. I’ll give you the combination to my vault and everything.” She had no idea if he was listening to her or not though, Hannah was too busy trying to figure out if she could make it to the next room, or even better, out the door. The more distance she could put between him and her the better. “Just . . . ” But she didn’t finish, instead chucking the spoon at him as hard as she could and then making a sprint towards the door.

Adrian pointedly ignored her line of questioning, standing quite still and silent across from her, hand patiently outstretched. Although honestly, he was getting tired of this little game. This snatch and grab was getting boring fast.

"I'm sure my master would be pleased to hear the combination, but your money is of little use to me. Let's allow him to make that call shall we?" He eyed the spoon unconcernedly and chuckled. "What are you going to do, chuck it at m-"

And she did. Right into his bloody face with quite a bit more force than he had reckoned. The prongs of the serving spoon cut right through his mask and slashed at the skin underneath. One hand flew to his face, clutching at the torn skin. "Fuck!"

"Petrificus Totalus," he shouted, aiming his wand in her general direction. He brought his hand down to steady himself on the cabinet and added a quick but sloppy "Crucio," hoping one of the two would fell the quickly fleeing witch. Otherwise it was going to be a chase through the halls of the flatblock. Joy. Rodolphus would not be pleased if he learned about this.

Hannah heard him swear and felt a brief since of pride in her accomplishment. It served him right. She didn’t dare look back to see if and how exactly he was injured, instead knocking down a lamp behind her as she ran. She could always replace that later, but maybe the broken bits of glass would slow him down.

The first spell missed. Hannah ducked when she heard him begin to shout before attempting to reach the door once again. The blonde wasn’t quite as lucky when he sent the second spell though. She had been pulling the door open, her nervous state slowing her down as she struggled briefly with the latch. She finally managed it when she felt the pain. It was worse than anything she had ever felt before, and her legs quickly gave way causing her to collapse to the ground, the side of her head hitting the door handle as she went down. The latter she didn’t notice, she wasn’t even sure if she was screaming or how long the spell had been on her. But when it finally lifted, Hannah could feel her body shaking and her head throbbing. She didn’t think she could move, and right then would have been a really good time for a Knight to come in and rescue her on his white horse.

Adrian stalked across the flat and took a moment to watch her writhe on the ground. She didn't scream, always a disappointment, but he supposed it was possible part of the spell had missed her. Once she had calmed, he leaned down and attempted to grab her by the collar of her shirt, not nearly as pleasantly as if she'd only taken his outstretched hand. Enough was enough.

"Very cute," he growled into her ear, kneeling over her. "But you'd do well not to attempt to run away again. I know curses plenty worse. You're welcome to try my patience but I'd suggest cooperation if you'd like to keep your legs. Now get on your feet."

Yes, unfortunately for Hannah, the only one going anywhere near her this evening was a Knight on a black horse leading her to a far darker wizard.

Hannah wasn’t listening or else she probably would have obeyed his warning. His words were nothing more than a mumble, a strange buzzing in her ear that of which she figured was a result of her panicked state or some sort of after effect from the curse he had placed on her. Instead, when she felt his hand tug on her collar, she kicked blindly with her legs, and moved her body in an attempt to wriggle free. It was a weak attempt, her muscles far too sore for her to muster up her full strength, but she was certain she didn’t want to meet the boss of anyone who would so freely use an unforgivable.

“Let me go,” she pleaded as she struggled against him. “Please. Let me go.” Then, when she felt she could no longer even lift a finger, Hannah did the only thing she could think of and screamed, hoping that someone would be able to hear her.

It would be a lie to say Adrian wasn't somewhat sympathetic to Hannah's pleas for mercy. As much as he'd like to see every pureblood up in arms against the current government and joining up instead with Rodolphus, he wasn't a big fan of watching innocents get hurt. Especially pureblooded innocents. No, it didn't sit right at all. But what Rodolphus wanted, Rodolphus got.

A few weak kicks managed to connect with his legs, but he held on steady and rolled his eyes. Her ear-piercing scream brought him quickly out of his sympathy, however, and quite without thinking he raised his right hand and gave her a stinging back-handed slap straight across her face. Unfortunately the blow was a little too hard- her head connected with the door and she was out.

Adrian got to his feet and let the girl drop, disgusted. "Stupid, stupid bitch." He accio'd the pastries to him, transfigured them, and then stuck them in his pocket. Then he grabbed her arm, dragged her out of her flat, and touched the strange potted plant at the end of the hallway.

There was the wooshing, the strange spinning and then the drop to the ground. Adrian shook his head, trying to clear the disorientation. They were in the middle of nowhere, just some crummy old cottage down the pathway before them. Hannah was still out (probably for the better) so Adrian muttered a spell and levitated her still body behind him. And then he knocked.

Another Renegade, masked and cloaked opened the door, ushering Adrian inside. "Move her over there, we'll place some binding spells."

As the two men lay the girl down on a small cot in a corner, the front door slammed open, allowing entrance of Rodolphus Lestrange, Renegade Lord.

"Ah, the Abbott girl. Well done." His eyes trailed over her body, "Unconscious? Unfortunate. I wanted to hear her pathetic whimpering." Unlike Adrian, a plea for mercy was almost music to the older man's ears. "Did it go as planned?" He didn't address Adrian straight though it was obvious he knew which of the two was the former Slytherin.

Adrian wasn't sure if he recognized the other Renegade's voice, but for some reason he wanted to lash out violently. There wasn't really an established hierarchy under Rodolphus- at least not yet- more like survival of the fittest.

"Binding spells?" He snarled, betraying his growing foul mood. "You could put muggle handcuffs on her, for Salazar's sake, she isn't going anywhere, idiot."

He straighted up when Rodolphus entered. "Yes, sir, no problems. Very feisty though."

"Yes." Rodolphus drawled in a similar fashion to that of Lucius Malfoy and his son, "I can tell." His eyes flicked over the tear in Adrian's mask, "Did the little magicless kitten have claws? Or did you let her get a shot in to make her feel better about herself?"

His tone was a mix of displeasure, mockery and amusement all in one.

Adrian reddened behind his mask. He'd completely forgotten about the whole spoon incident and he was hoping very hard that Rodolphus had not recently learned how to read minds.

"No sir, it was nothing. Just a...lucky shot." He turned back to the motionless girl and tried to change the subject as quickly as possible. "Shall I rouse her, then, sir? See what she has to say for herself?"

"A lucky shot without magic?" He continued, "Perhaps we should step up training for everyone if a little girl like that, who is practically a squib right now, is able to get a lucky shot in on one of my men."

The other Renegade who had been smugly nodding and snickering up till then, looked suddenly displeased at Adrian.

"Yes. Wake her." Rodolphus said, managing to look quite bored as he crossed his arms. "Careful," He warned, "She might strike out, and you only have one good side left." He finished sarcastically.

Keenly aware of the other Renegade's presence, Adrian suddenly wondered if he couldn't just switch tactics and flat out appease Rodolphus.

"My Lord, it won't happen again, I assure you. It is barely a scratch and due more to my own recklessness than any ferocity on her part. As you said, she is like a squib- pathetic. I am certain I will have further chances to prove my worth."

Adrian drew his wand and briefly made eye-contact with the other Renegade. How prefect it would be to take a shot at the masked wizard, regain some of his masculinity in the eyes of Rodolphus. Yes.

"Langlock," he growled, snapping his wand at the other Renegade. "Let's see you laugh now."

Then he turned back to Hannah and muttered another spell. He peered closely at her and waited.

Rodolphus' expression didn't change as Adrian hexed the other Renegade, but a slight tilt of his chin showed an acknowledgement of the boy's attempt to please him.

The other deatheater moved for his wand but Rodolphus put a hand out, "Tut tut children, now is not the time to duel. Disagreements are best settled in schoolyard fights, not in front of a superior's eyes."

As Hannah began to stir, Rodolphus watched her passively.

Hannah awoke with a groan. Her head was throbbing and it took a moment for her eyes to focus. Perhaps everything had been a bad dream, a strange nightmare that had been a result of the added stress that had been piling up throughout the week. But as her eyes darted around the room she realized it didn’t look like her flat at all. And then she finally settled on the three strangers, her kidnappers, and Hannah began to panic. She had lost, and Merlin only knew what they planned to do with her now.

She attempted to move, a last ditch effort to escape even though she knew that it probably wouldn’t work, only to realize that she couldn’t move her body at all. “Let me go,” she gasped, suddenly finding it difficult to breathe in her nervous state. She had meant for it to come out as a demand, but even to her ears it came out more like a pathetic whimper. “Please,” she finally added with wide eyes.

Ah, the pitiful cries ... such a nice feeling. Like gentle harmonies chiming into a beautiful song of kidnapping.

Rodolphus clucked his tongue, crouching down as if an adult crouching to see a child's scraped knee. "Now, now. Don't you know who I am?" Unmasked unlike his followers, his face was distinctly recognizable though lacking the beard and immediate insanity in his eyes that characterized his WANTED poster. "Come, Hufflepuff. You should know by now we won't be letting you go anytime soon."

He reached out and grasped her face, "My boy hit you? Tsk, what a bad man he was." He pushed her roughly away, "Why did you?" Rodolphus directed toward Adrian as if he was actually asking him, before facing Hannah once more, "I'm sure he wouldn't have if you'd cooperated. It's important, you see. Cooperation, that is. Which is all we're asking for, really."

Adrian watched the whole thing, highly amused. Although it pained him to see the girl beg, hadn't Adrian told her the exact same thing? Besides, now it was the Rodolphus show and he would play second fiddle.

"No, My Lord, I told her she didn't need to get hurt. But she wanted to fight. In fact, I think she enjoyed it." He took a few steps forward so that he was standing directly behind Rodolphus but staring down at Hannah. "I think the fight's taken out of her now though. Harmless as a pussy cat."

Hannah sniffed and blinked back the tears that had thankfully yet to fall. She really did not want to give them the satisfaction of seeing her cry, especially when she had no way to hide the tears. “No, I don’t,” she said simply. He looked vaguely familiar, but not enough that Hannah knew that they hadn’t actually met at a previous time. She imagined though, if she ever got out of this, she would have a pretty good description for the authorities.

When the unmasked man pushed her away, Hannah turned her head and closed her eyes (the only part of her body that she seemed to have any control over), not wanting to see the men standing over her anymore. The usually friendly blonde was quite tempted to blurt out she had managed to nail the masked man with a spoon, but as much as she wanted to take him down a notch, she feared the consequences of speaking in such a way far more.

“What do you want then?” asked Hannah as she forced herself to look at her kidnapers once again. She attempted to sound just a bit interested despite the fact that whatever they wanted from her was probably something she would never agree to. She knew though that she really had no choice but to listen.

Hufflepuffs. So inattentive. Rodolphus' lips twitched in displeasure with the small blonde. "Rodolphus Lestrange. Remember the name, for it's going to make a big difference in your life from here on in."

"Cooperation. Honestly, don't you listen?" Rodolphus was swerving into one of his odd moods. The kind where he talked like a frustrated friend before he could get either eerily calm or violently angry. "Your family's a bit of a dissappointment you know. Gaining all the prestige of being a pureblood, but not helping those who fight for pureblood rights in the least."

Rodolphus Lestrange. Right. That would explain why he looked so familiar. “Lestrange? The Death Eater?” she questioned, curiosity getting the best of her. That couldn’t be good at all, and she wondered if she should be bracing herself for the unexplainable arrival of You-Know-Who even though logic told her it was impossible for someone to return from the dead. Or, from the way he was speaking, it sounded as though he fancied himself the next Dark Lord. Hannah wasn’t sure which was worse. Either way, she didn’t like the fact that he seemed confident enough to simply throw his name around. “Aren’t you worried that I’ll turn your name into the authorities?” It was probably a stupid, naive question, but she still couldn’t help but blurt out her fear. She worried that his own lack of fear meant that when he got what he wanted, whatever that was, he would simply kill her and toss her aside.

Hannah resisted the sudden urge to roll her eyes. She didn’t understand why there was so much worry surrounding this whole blood issue. Magic was magic no matter how many generations it went back. In her situation though, the blonde figured that her views wouldn’t be appreciated and were best left quiet. For the present moment anyway. “I’m sorry,” stated Hannah quietly. “I didn’t realize there was a need.”

Rodolphus raised his eyebrows, making a surprised face as she realised who he was. "Pleased to make your acquaintance." At her next comment he laughed loudly. It was the type of laugh that, had he been a normal man, could be described as handsome. "Not really. Afterall, I did escape Azkaban. I'm fairly sure they have my name. Though if do decide to release you, you might as well pass my name on to young Mr. Potter, just to remind him what's coming." Rodolphus grinned, his canines glinting.

As Hannah's demeanour became submissive, Rodolphus smiled. "I wouldn't have expected you to. Come now, you're but a helpless girl." Here came pureblood views into full view, "And a former hufflepuff, nonetheless. It's your family that's the problem. If they'd only done their duty, you wouldn't be here. So this is a little wake up call for them. I would've thought after your mother's passing, your Father would've been a little more careful about his possessions. Pity."

He stood then, barking at the masked deatheater who's tongue was still tied, "Send the OWL to her father."

Hannah felt bad that Harry always seemed to get dragged into these types of situations. He really was a nice guy. Hannah was almost positive though that if he wanted to, Harry was more than capable of taking this Lestrange guy on and beating him. After all, he did survive all those encounters with You-Know-Who. “And what is it that’s coming?” asked Hannah. He seemed as though he wanted to talk about it, and the blonde figured the longer he continued to speak, the less likely he was to lash out at her. She hoped anyway.

That’s right. Hannah had been a Hufflepuff, and if that meant anything at all it was that she was fiercely loyal to those she cared about. Almost stupidly so sometimes. “No,” said Hannah angrily, as she struggled with no success against the spell holding her in place. “You leave them alone. You do what you want with me, but you leave them out of it. You . . . you people. You’ve already done enough damage.” This time the tears did start to fall, but she didn’t even notice. She was far too desperate to stop the images that had popped into her head. She couldn’t lose her father too.

“No,” shouted Hannah when Rodolphus made the order. She felt sick to her stomach and wished desperately for her magic to come back to her. But it didn’t and Hannah could only think of the ways she had let her family down. She knew her father, and she knew that he would agree to whatever the letter said if he even thought there was a chance that he could help his daughter. Hannah did not want these men to win, and she certainly didn’t want her father to be forced into something because she was stupid enough to get caught. “Don’t you dare!”

Rodolphus chuckled at her response, "Now, now, Hannah, I'm not one of those villains on stage in London. I'm not going to monologue to give you any more information than I wish to. Cheeky little swot, aren't you?" He grabbed her chin and then let it go harshly.

Ignoring her little out burst at first as the other Renegade rushed off to send the planned owl, Rodolphus only turned when she shouted her righteous: "Don't you Dare".

In that instant, his good humor had vanished, and the sloping shadows that fell on his handsome features only magnified the insane glint in his eyes. "Shut up. Crucio." Whatever she had experienced at Adrian's hands would be ten fold worse at Rodolphus' practiced ones. Afterall, he had cast the unforgivable over 30 times the night they tortured the Longbottoms alone. "Typical woman," He sneered, "Having to be put back into their place, as they're not smart enough to stay there."

Crouching down so they were eyelevel once more, his voice was silken and deadly, "Tell me, what makes you think that I would even consider listening to you? Do I respect you? Do I fear you? A pathetic, snivelling little girl? Please. You forget yourself. All you can do is give me evils all day long. I, however, can do much much worse." Cold, calculated eyes swept her figure suggestively.

"Don't feed her today." He snapped at Adrian and the other deatheater, before turning back to the girl, "And no more outbursts from you, or I take it on those you're so desperate to protect." With an eerie smile he was gone.
