Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Alicia Spinnet and Fred Weasley
WHEN: August 3, 2006
WHERE: WWW and beyond!
WHAT: Hanging out and general merriment

Alicia had been back in Veritas permanently for about a week now, but most of that time had been spent unpacking and tying up loose ends with the Ministry of Magic regarding connecting her fireplace to the Floo Network. She never thought that something as simple as that would be that much of a hassle, but she'd had to fill out so many forms that she feared her hand was permanently cramped. Now that she was finally free of all that, however, she decided to go out and have fun. And really, if she wanted to have fun, who better to do that with than Fred or George Weasley?

As she headed out the front door of her cottage, she checked her watch and saw that if she hurried, she could make it to their store at just before it closed. Maybe if she was lucky, one of them would be free to go out and do something with her. It only took her a few minutes to navigate her way through town, and pretty soon she was entering the shop. Jumping a little at the horn that sounded when she stepped through the door -- the stupid thing startled her every time! -- she ran a hand through her hair to try and undo some of the damage the wind had done on her way over.

Spotting one of the twins behind the counter with his back to her, she marched over and loudly announced, "Excuse me? I require some assistance. I know you're about to close, but I have a very large order that needs filled."

"So I'm not allowed to let you wander off at all, is that it? Because, believe me, Ali, every bloke out there is some sort of strange."

He paused to look around the bar, it was semi-crowded. The usual nights crowd submerged in their seats and blended in with the noise.

"And thank you," he added, "I wouldn't want to gallivant off with questionable men either. Where do you want to sit?" Fred gestured vastly from the tables and booths to the bar.

"That's it precisely. As far as you're concerned, we're glued together," Alicia firmly nodded. "And what sort of strange are you, exactly?"

Waving to someone she knew, Alicia shrugged off her jacket and draped it over her arm.

"I meant questionable women, but I'll keep the men away from you, too," she joked. Glancing around the pub, she surveyed the seating options. "I want to sit at a booth," she decided, heading toward a small two-person one.

"The fun kind of strange that you normally wouldn't go for until I flashed you a disarming smile," the redhead said with a smirk and a wide grin.

"Well, now I'm just all sorts of disappointed," Fred remarked with a pout. When a waitress stopped by the booth a few moments later, he mustered up a grin and ordered a bottle of Firewhiskey.

"So, Miss Spinnet. Tell me all that I've been missing out on in your life." Shrugging off his work coat, the blue-eyed jokester tossed it on his seat.

"As awesome as your smile is, I think I fell for you before I saw it. It was just the icing on the cake. You know, back at school," Alicia admitted, picking up a menu.

Ordering a bottle of Firewhiskey as well, Alicia continued to browse the menu. "You'll get over it," she laughed.

Peering at Fred over the top of her menu, she shrugged. "Not much, honestly. Just Quidditch practise and games. What about you?"

"Ah, was it my stunning hair? My splendid body that reeled you in?" he teased as he pinched a menu between his fingers and flipped it over.

"I do believe it'll take at least two bottles of Firewhiskey and a pint of beer before I'll let it pass." Deciding to just order some chips and cheese, he set the menu down and leaned back against the booth's cushy seating.

"Oh, you know, educating the youth today with enlightening instruments and joyful tools of..education," he said, puckering his lips and waving a hand.

Alicia held the menu up to cover her face and bit her lip so as not to laugh out loud. Still, her shaking shoulders gave her away. "Yeah, okay."

"By that time, you won't even remember what you were upset about," Alicia pointed out. "I can't decide what I want! Maybe dessert."

"And to think I was there when you guys first started out," she mused. "I think I even tested some products -- or, well, was one of the first people to try them after you and George perfected them."

Fred knew Alicia would laugh. That was all right. He knew it was the freckles she adored.

"That's exactly the point," Fred remarked as the woman brought over the two bottles of Firewhiskey with a pair of glasses. "Be bold, go with some dessert."

Placing his order with the waitress before she wandered off, the redhead poured himself a third of whiskey.

"It doesn't even feel that long ago, does it?" he questioned, though him and George have been inventing and testing things for well over ten years, "Puking Pastilles is still, by far, the worst to have worked through. Puking for days, I was."

"Fine, you've talked me into it," Alicia joked, before ordering the Death By Chocolate off the menu. "I will die a happy woman tonight."

She poured some of the Firewhiskey into her own glass and shook her head. "No, it doesn't. In fact, I almost feel like we're in Hogsmeade on a trip. Except, you know, we wouldn't be drinking Firewhiskey."

Taking a drink, she set her glass down and stared at Fred for a long while. "It was your back and arms, by the way," she smirked. Commence Operation Embarrassment.

"No, no, I'm not allowed to let you wander. Not even into death's arms," Fred tutted, taking a swig of his whiskey.

"You wouldn't be," he remarked, "Madame Rosmerta took a particular liking to George and I."

"Ah, of course, arms and back.. It all makes sense..you Quidditch admirer, you!" he teased.

"I'm sure Madame Rosmerta did take a liking to you," Alicia agreed. "Probably as much as you took a liking to her." She knew that the barmaid had captured the attention of almost every boy in Hogwarts at one time or another.

Sitting up straighter, Alicia replied, "Hey! I was more than just a Quidditch admirer. I played, too." Resting an elbow on the table, she leaned her chin on her hand and pretended to daydream. "But yes, more often than not I'd get distracted by how your muscles rippled," she sighed.
