Adrian's Flat, tag to his man crush...I mean Roddy
Who: Adrian Pucey and Roddy Lestrange
When: 10.00 pm
Where: Adrian's flat
What: Finished. Adrian gets a VERY unexpected visit from Rodolphus Lestrange. Plot is revealed and kidnappings will soon take place. NOW YOU KNOW.

Adrian stepped out of the shower, stepping through the thoroughly steam filled bathroom. He grabbed a smaller towel and ran it over his head lightly. Then he used the larger one to towel off the rest of his body and wrapped it around his torso. He slung the smaller one over his shoulder and then opened the door to his sitting room. The coolness pulled at his skin. He enjoyed the transitioning temperature and allowed a grin between him and his flat. He'd probably have a snack, flip through Playwizard, have a wank and then call it an early night.

He moved over to the cooler box and grabbed a beer, taping it open with his wand. Then he tossed his wand onto the relatively unused and rather dusty kitchen counter. He gave a contented sigh and turned back to his sitting room. Where had he put that bloody magazine anyway?

Luckily for Adrian, he had a very fine bottle of Manticore's Sting he'd purchased only today. Usually he just kept the rock cheap Grindy's Breath for the purposes of getting absolutely shitfaced, but Adrian certainly valued very expensive liquor. He did a sort of odd backwards shuffling to the cooler so that he could respectfully keep an eye on the older wizard and then poured the requested drink.

"A good deal of money? We should take it all from that damn Squib foundation. All those knuts going to waste." He tried to pocket his wand as subtly as possible, Salazar forbid the action offend Rodolphus, and then set the drink down on the hard wood table in front of him.

Rodolphus watched Adrian pocket his wand with some disinterest, "Ah, but in fact, I feel as if the Squib foundation perhaps may have helped us. Unknowingly, of course. There's no way those decrepit cretins would be able to formulate a plan so beautiful. I'm not entirely clear, but I feel as if it all goes back to that." It was unclear what Rodolphus was referencing, and also how he could possibly have such information at all.

"Tell me, did you enjoy the auction? Did anything out of the ordinary occur?"

Adrian took a seat on his sofa and was soon staring as blankly at Rodolphus as if he had just started speaking Parseltongue. Rodolphus didn't seem to be asking any questions though so it would probably be best to continue listening and nodding.

"The auction? Yeah, it was alright. The only thing out of the ordinary was that I managed to snag the tierçon of cognac they offered." He smiled, enjoying the company of a rather pleasant, yet ever bewildering, Rodolphus. But his eyes strained for any sign of a reaction. "It was a bit pricey but still a wonderful addition to my collection."

He paused. Was that the right answer? His mind churned. Come on, Adrian, you dumb fuck, think of something intelligent. "But uh...no, nothing else, sir. Excellent champagne," he finished lamely.

There was a second after Adrian's poor attempt at humor when Rodolphus' face was scarily blank. Just when it may have felt like he was about to lash out, a small smile edged on his lips. "My brother used to collect fine wines."

And that was the end of sharing corner. Rodolphus rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Nothing, eh? Strange."

"Are you prepared to stage a few kidnappings?" He asked suddenly after a five minute silence.

Adrian was certain this was it, the moment Rodolphus had been waiting for, to inflict some punishment for insolence or whatever other motive the Wizard needed. But nothing, just the quip and that hint of a second smile. Adrian let out a quiet, shaky breath and wondered what exactly he should have noticed. Or was this some kind of game?

And then nothing. The silence dragged on for an eternity and Adrian shifted nervously. No need to interrupt the older man's thoughts. Then, finally, the purpose of the visit.

"Kidnappings? Absolutely." He felt his old confidence returning and he relaxed (for the first time since Rodolphus had appeared), leaning slightly into the sofa. "Who?"

Rodolphus noted with pleasure the shaky breath of his young follower. Always keep 'im Flinching was the Lestrange family motto. Or at least, that was how all the heirs were raised.

"Purebloods." What a kicker. "A few. Perhaps some not pure. It depends. On how this plays out." Again with the crazy.

"Purebloods?" For the first time in his life, the word left Adrian's mouth sour. It had a strange ring too. He knew he shouldn't ask but the strange injustice of the task had the words out before he could stop them. "To what purpose, sir?"

In less than a second Adrian found himself hit by a hex that made one feel as if thousands of spiders were biting you all over. But it was brief. Over within a few seconds. Today was Roddy's kind day, Adrian, why do you have to push him.

"It is fine to question the orders you are given. But you do not disrespect. 'Pardon me, sir, what is your plan?' NOT 'for what purpose?'" There was a momentary meeting of their eyes, Rodolphus' gaze hard and fiery.

"We shall not hurt them. It's for blackmail, really. Only a few families. Depending on how this plays out. Those that haven't pledged to us or show any sign of pride in their pureblood."

"Tell me, how do you feel at the moment? Well?" Another strange abrupt question.

The blow was to be expected, but the pain was new. Apparently Rodolphus was using his days off to experiment with new forms of torture. Adrian was certain he was lucky to get off so lightly. But that did nothing for the pain. He sort of doubled in on himself and his body convulsed quickly. To his credit he did not cry out, but his eyes squeezed shut and he thought briefly of death. He knew better than to open his mouth. He only made each mistake once.

He rested his elbows on his knees and did not look up during Rodolphus' lecture until the very end. He felt like a child. Defenseless and utterly humiliated. Of course Rodolphus wouldn't kill purebloods. Not like that.

"An excellent idea," he managed finally, nodding and straightening back up. He was completely defeated. "There are many families worthy to take up your mantle."

Adrian stared blankly at Rodolphus for a moment. He felt awful, but somehow Adrian felt his leader knew that. Better to err on the side of caution. "I feel fine, sir."

Rodolphus watched the boy though hooded eyes. It was nice, having such deference, such loyalty. Which was perhaps why he wasn't as harsh as he had been to the recruits from the first war. Those young men, though his underlings, had a loyalty to his own Master first. Thus, he thought nothing of torturing them out of their minds. But these new Renegades were his and so it was very, very different.

"Yes." He noted deeply, reaching out and lifting the boy's chin as a father may do to his chatised child, "You have a lot to learn." It seemed like that was all he was about to say before he continued, "But you will learn by my hand, and you will become great."

"Nothing odd?" He continued to question before waving his wand causing Adrian's own to lift out of his pocket, "Cast a few spells."

Adrian forced himself to make eye contact with Rodolphus even as his rough hands were surprisingly gentle on his face. He grinned a bit at the older wizard's reassurance and nodded quickly.

Adrian wasn't sure where this little game with Rodolphus was going but he warily snatched his wand from the air. For the briefest of moments Adrian wondered what it would be like to curse Rodolphus- certainly he'd had it at the hand of Bellatrix, they must have been into all that.

He glanced about the room and settled on a discarded beer bottle (Adrian was a bachelor, what do you expect?). He pointed his wand and muttered, "Confringo."

Honestly, if Adrian had chosen to curse Rodolphus, the older man would've been impressed by his audacity. Of course Adrian would have also been tortured within a hair of his life, so perhaps it was better this way.

Ah yes, Bella. His insane deceased wife. No one could take a Crucio as well as she could've. Nor could anyone dish it out as well, either. Too often their idea of foreplay was a violent argument and duel. In the end however, as much as others may have thought otherwise, Rodolphus still wore the pants. Although so did Voldemort. Bella had a thing for insane powerful men.

The beer bottle exploded as it was meant to and Rodolphus nodded, "Good. So probably not men, then." What he meant was unclear. "Tell me, any blokes you'd like to give a little heart attack to?" He meant purebloods.

"Well, I'm a little disappointed in the Warringtons. I was in the same Year as Chris and although he's taken a beautiful pureblood wife, he's shown no intention of joining the Cause. If that's what you mean, sir." He paused uncertainly. "I can think of several purebloods, actually, who have shown no inclination in aiding us."

"Sir," Adrian began, painfully aware of what could potentially come out as disrespectful, "what exactly are you referring to when you say 'not men'? I'd like to aid you in whatever information you are seeking but to be honest, I don't have a bloody clue what you're talking about.

"Hm. Yes." Rodolphus nodded thoughtfully, "Though they haven't much money, am I correct? It may be well enough to hit them, just to keep others on their toes. We mightn't get much from it." Cold eyes met the younger man, "Well, name names, boy! I haven't all night."

For a brief moment Rodolphus mulled over another punishing spell before deciding against it. Part of Voldemort's downfall was that many times he made his followers operate blind and so they were unable to perform to the best of their abilities. "I have information that recently, magic abilities have been starting to vanish. I've only heard of one or two cases, both women, but it may be something bigger scale than just them, and if so, I want to be prepared."

"Well, Draco, for certain, I know his father was such an asset," something like a happy smile crossed Adrian's face at the mention of one of his mentors, "There's that Capper boy, I know his father is involved in a high up Communications business. Uh, Salazar, Seth Moon, resident play boy and poof but he's certainly loaded and an ex-Slytherin. He certainly could hold his own in the common room. The Nott boy, a high end prosecutor."

He paused, wracking his brains for more names when suddenly, "It would be fun to hit the Weasleys hard. You know, sir, let everyone know we mean business. That youngest boy, Ron, he's just asking for it."

And then, "And Severus Snape, of course."

"Yes, my nephew." Rodolphus nodded, "Tell me, what about his wife? I've yet to have the...pleasure." He didn't really plan on hurting the Malfoys just yet. They were his only family, and through default, Draco was the only heir to the Blacks as well as the Lestranges.

"Capper. An idiot. All males, unfortunately. I want this as easy as possible, if it doesn't effect men, it could get messy. I want no screw ups. Nott. Yes, he's quite disappointing. His father was one of my closest friends. But I don't believe there are any women left in any branch of his family. Perhaps the Abbotts. And the Bones'. Do gooders all of them."

A dark smile crossed the older man's face. "Yes, the Weasleys. Those disgusting blood traitors." He looked murderous, "The only issue with them is that rat Potter would get far too involved. As much as I loathe to admit it, we're not ready for that yet. Though it would be fun to get that youngest....Perhaps as a gift to you one day. I've heard she's a spitfire. Don't worry boy, we will decimate them soon enough."

Rodolphus said nothing on the issue of Snape, "Yes, his loyalty...the greatest mystery of my occupation."

"Parvati? She's as harmless as a bobbed manticore, but still every bit as clever. I assure you she's entirely dedicated to Draco and purebloods as a whole." He managed to refrain from adding, fucking gorgeous. "But I will keep my eye out for other potential, highly connected purebloods. The ones that straddle the fence, they disgust me, sir."

Because Adrian had almost no contact with Potter during the war he was quite interested in sinking his teeth into the young upstart. Personally it seemed certain that the best way to go around this was harming those he loved and weren't the Weasleys an excellent target! "A gift, sir?" Now that thought made him very happy. "I look forward to earning the chance."

Adrian perked up at Rodolphus' response to Snape but it didn't seem any new information was coming. Disappointing. Adrian has his own doubts, but perhaps those were better left unspoken. He didn't need a Quidditch World Cup incident all over again.

"Indeed. I'll have to gauge that myself. My nephew...he hasn't taken the reigns in quite the same manner that I'd have expected. He retains the silver tongue and dark mind of his father though. Beware of him, but do not touch him."

"Certainly. Although all may not be doers as the more powerful, the least they could do is provide the funding for those who do their dirty work. Pathetic, those neutrals. No concept of believing in their cause. It's why they will never exceed beyond the mediocre."

"Of course." Rodolphus gave the boy a cheerful clap on the back, "To the victor goes the spoils. I always reward those who show loyalty and strength."

Then, in a swift motion the discarded Playwizard was picked up off the floor and thrown at Adrian's stomach, "I'll leave you to this, then. You'll be told your orders in a few days." And with that, he was gone.

Adrian's heart sank a bit at Rodolphus' simple assessment of Draco. To be perfectly honest, he'd love to see the young wizard tortured at the hands of every Renegade until he broke and joined without thought.

But he was back to his usual optimism at Rodolphus' reassurance. Of course he'd go up in the ranks. He'd been by Rodolphus' side since he'd heard the wizard was still alive and he wasn't about to leave. And he'd soon have his spoils and his choice of spoils. Life would be good once more.

Adrian stared at the place from which the older wizard had disapparated. "Right, good-bye then." He glanced down at the Playwizard in his lap and felt a bit of color return to his face. Then again, that had been his plans earlier in the evening and now he had a few knew things to consider.
