Day Two-Mid morning
Who: Sarah Vida, L (not putting his name Lexi 'cause I don't know how you're gonna play it), and Shizuka Domeki
What: Arrival
When: around 10ish
Where: In the woods
Rating: PG-13 to be safe
Status: Active

The darkness consumed Sarah. Flashes of scenes were forced before her eyes. Memories. His memories; she could tell almost instantly. Memories of the South, of hunting with Nikolas, blood bonding and fights. Gradually the memories turned more recent. She saw herself through his eyes.
As the rough taste of rust slowed in her throat she felt a sharp pain in her chest. A lunge and the sudden stop. Silence took over where the darkness left off. She forced her eyes open and looked at Kristopher. She didn't hate him. Even if she wanted to, she couldn't. Slowly she drifted back into unconciousness. So this is what death felt like...

Sarah felt the cold, damp ground before she awoke. Opening her eyes she saw the sun shine through the trees. Stiffly she pulled herself into a sitting position. The night's events came flooding back into her memory. She placed her hand on her chest, over the area her heart was supposed to be. Nothing. She felt nothing anymore. Just cold silence. Looking down at herself she realized she was still wearing the same clothes she wore when she went to Nikolas' house. Black tank, black shorts and her long leather coat. It had to have been just last night that she was changed. But how did she get to the woods? Perhaps Kristopher took her hunting and she didn't remember. No...he was back to feeding on humans. He wouldn't have been so kind. She glanced around noticed the other two boys with her. For a moment she became worried that she had killed them. That Kristopher did take her out hunting. However when she noticed one of them grunt in their sleep she relaxed a bit more. They were alive. That was good. At least she knew she wasn't a killer...yet.

This last idea suddenly made her a little nervous. If it was only last night that she was changed...and she had no recollection of feeding...that meant that she was not only new but also a starved vampire. Oh no... she worried. She didn't want to hurt either of them. But a piece of her was still human...a witch...Hopefully she could let that be enough to hold her back until she found some sort of animal to feed on.

But it still didn't explain the two boys and the woods. And she couldn't sense or smell Kristopher, Nikolas, or even Kaleo anywhere. Something wasn't right. She decided waking up the two boys for questioning was probably the best way to go at the moment. As a reflex, Sarah went for the knife at her back to defend herself if the situation called for it. But...nothing. Her knife was...gone? A Vida witch without their knives was like a fish out of water. It just didn't work. A fish cannot survive without water much like a Vida cannot survive without their knives. Frightened she began to check her boots...nothing. No...no,no,no,no! Sarah thought over and over to herself as she checked all of her hiding places. Nothing. No knives. She was worried. Those knives were wired to her magic. She couldn't understnad what she was going to do without them.

Perhaps one of them stole them? She wondered. Standing up she called to them, "What happened?!" she couldn't think of anything better to yell at them to wake up. If either of them somehow managed to drag her from Nikolas' house and steal her knives she didn't care what it took, she was going to get answers as well as her knives returned to her.

Raining. Bells. Drenched to the marrow and listening for thunder, hearing only silence on the day to end all days.

I do not want to die. I am caught between a a steep plunge into the street below this manic city, and turning softly and giving myself to my murderer. The hunter has become the hunted... he has changed, yet again, and there are lies tainting his voice when he speaks now. I do not need to be told that it is a matter of time before he ends my life neatly and without rousing suspicion.

I have already told Watari what to do. When one of us is killed, he will erase all the data we have compiled.

I apologize to my killer, wiping the damp from his cold feet, my knees feeling bony and frail through the last pair of jeans I will ever wear. He came out in the rain to look for me, and got wet himself, cutting short my speculation that it might be better to fall to my death than suffer a heart attack at the hand of my enemy. He seems confused. He is wondering if I have gone crazy, speaking and behaving the way I am. Maybe it is because I have never had a lover, and I long for human companionship before I return to the elements. Or perhaps it is simply because it is the last trick I can think to pull on him. This resignation, this sadness and true inability to connect for a final time... he understands it no more than I do. Therefore, we are even. I can feel like his victory is not as imminent, if my daft actions confuse him. What exactly do I have to lose, but I life I knowingly staked?

We are walking back, now. He is behind me. I am still dripping from the rain. I am about to announce my last plan to fool Light Yagami and expose his acts of murder to the world. If this plan is set in motion, Misa Amane will be found guilty, and Light will follow. A perfect conclusion that will never see completion, for I am about to die in the arms of my enemy with the pulsing red glow of a power outage showing our true faces to each other. He will be hideous in his triumph, and I will fade softly into the nonexistence my mortality condemns me to.

I will never see Kira caught.

I will never see many things.

L did not believe that there was a Hell, and if there was, that it certainly wasn't cold. Therefore, he could conclude, before waking fully, that he was not in Hell because he was, indeed, cold. He was curled in his typical fetal position, the rich, moist smell of the earth surrounding him and the mid-morning sun filtering softly onto his fair skin through the branches of the trees above. So abrupt was the shift in time and space that he was unable to fully process it immediately, preferring to stay down and wonder when he would, indeed, die. It was supposed to happen at any moment, after all... he had resigned himself to this death, and could not simply return to the blithe existence he'd had before.

However, a shrill female's voice had him sitting bolt-upright shortly, skittering backward, unable understand what she was asking. English. Latin-based Germanic language. My first language. He shook his head distractedly, trying to think of an answer when, as far back as he knew, this woman yelling was the only thing that had "happened." He glanced quickly at the other man, lying unconscious beside him, before warily drawing his knees to his chest and perching upright in an odd crouching position. "Please... calm down... the timbre of your voice gives me a headache," he said quietly. "Where is Light, and the Shinigami? I was supposed to die... I was going to be killed... I should not be alive, much less... here..." he took in his surroundings uneasily.

Even then, sitting in blood soaked uniform in a narrow hallway inside of the witch's shop, he had been content. The knowledge that he might have finally pushed too far was in him, but he was past it. He held no regret for the price which he had paid and he would accept whatever came of it - even if full payment came in silence and in hatred. It would not be too dear, not when he knew that Watanuki slept, weak and tired and sore but alive, inside while the witch watched over him. As long as that life continued in safety, then the gift of his own blood was but a small thing.

Domeki stirred slowly and it was this movement which drew his attention to the fact that below him was no longer the smooth, slightly cool wood of the hallway; instead, it felt as if he were sitting on a patch of cold and damp grass. The mystery of how he had gotten outside to the grass tugged at a mind sluggish with loss and Domeki struggled to climb up from the murky depths of unconsciousness.

Fortunately, a loud outburst close by helped to jar him to something a bit closer to awareness, but his confused mind boggled at the fact that Watanuki could not only be up so soon but that he could also already be making such a fuss. Even if the idiot held no concern for his own safety, surely the witch would try to keep him confined.

"Too loud," Domeki complained sourly as he blinked his eyes open. He was about to continue his complaint in much the same vein when his situation finally began to register through the confused haze; glancing about, all he could see was trees hemming him in on every side and two strangers near at hand. There was nothing familiar to remind him of any of the familiar places he had known but he could not sense nor see anything obviously supernatural either, even when he tried peering just through his right eye.

The mention of Shinigami and death drew his attention to the other male but he simply shook his head. "Death gods? If it's something to do with them, then maybe we're all dead." Domeki paused a moment to reflect on this but he soon shook his head. "That isn't right, though. It wouldn't be like this. Perhaps something drew the three of us to this place."

The thought was both curious and repulsive but Domeki could think of nothing better to explain why he was currently in this unknown place with these unknown people. This situation was something which clearly needed investigation and yet it was difficult to guess where even to begin.

When first the boy on her right got nervous by her sudden outburst Sarah just listened to him a little surprised by his reaction. However as the boy on her left complaigned about her being too loud she simply rolled her eyes and leaned up against the nearest tree. Ugh...humans... she thought, shaking her head and crossing her arms. It was obvious by their aura that they were indeed human. The sudden sound of their speeding heartbeats pounded loudly in her ears. It hurt her head and quickly her right hand went up to rub at her temples. This must have been something she gained in the change. It was certainly annoying and it rather loud. It also didn't help the fact that she was hungry...

"I could say the same to you..." she commented to the boy on her right. Taking a deep breath she looked back at both of them. "Please. Calm down. I didnt' mean to scare you two. I couldn't think of a better way to wake you up." She wanted them to slow down their heart beat. Before when it was in the calm rytham of sleep it was easier for her to handle. Easier for her to ignore and fight against the hunger.

At the mention of 'Light and the shinigami' Sarah looked at the boy on her right with the look of what the fuck? "Well Light is up there from the sun..." she was about to ask what the hell a Shinigami was when the boy on her left started up about them.

Death gods? So that's what they were? Sarah's head unconciously went to her chest again. When was she going to get used to that silence? It was true that she was dead but not in the way that they could die. "No. We're not dead. That much is obvious." a lie on her part but they didn't need to know that. "Perhaps we're somewhere on Earth?" she wondered. It was obvious someone had brought them there but she was unsure of who.

Gradually her true motive for waking them up came back to her. But their talk of Shinigami's and confusion of the place made her think that they were either really good actors or were as lost as she was. "Where are you two from?" she decided it was going to be the esiest thing to start with. She would be able to know if they were lying to her.

L's initial reaction was out of his control. He needed to feel like things were logical and like they made sense, and though changes were inevitable in the line of work he was in, any unnecessary ones were jarring to him. He watched the girl, staying on his guard, but his eyes never flickered above her jawline. L didn't do eye contact. Especially not with strangers. He couldn't for the life of him understand why his voice, a soft, clipped monotone, could be construed as headache inducing.

It was ironic, that L's heartbeat was so fast. Considering it should have ground to a halt by now, it was extremely impressive.

"Not light..." he said, frowning, wrapping his arms around his curled knees. "Light. A man. Not an electromagnetic spectrum." He glanced past the girl the the boy, younger than him, who seemed to know what Shinigami were. He tilted his head to the side, immediately skeptical of his lightning-fast deduction that they were dead or that something had "drawn them" here. It seemed farfetched, especially without proof of any kind to go on. "Where is your evidence?" He asked cynically. "I think that the female's guess is more likely, that this is somewhere on Earth. The chances that any other planet would have the elements and atmosphere necessary to support carbon-based life forms is extremely slim. Not that a supernatural force can be entirely ruled out... I have seen such things with my own eyes, and so, apparently, have you." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"I am from Earth. Like you both, I'm sure."

The admonishment to calm down was easy enough for Domeki to follow; it took only a few deep draws of breath to calm his heart to its normal rate and he allowed his features to relax into a mask of quiet calm as he pulled himself to his feet. Arms crossed loosely over his chest, he began to slowly pace the perimeter of the small clearing in which they had found themselves but there was still nothing which jumped out at him as odd or different enough to act as a clue as to what had happened.

"No evidence. Just a baseless guess," Domeki responded without glancing back at the other male. "I did nothing to come here and I can guess that neither did you nor the girl. That makes it seem that we were either kidnapped or drawn here by something other than ourselves even if we still are on the Earth." It was far from a calming thought, that they had been pulled by something to this unknown place, but Domeki kept his demeanor calm as he tried to find a logical path through their current problem.

"Something supernatural sounds like the best answer," Domeki moved his head in a short nod, but there was uncertainty underneath. He paused in his pacing and peered hard at his surroundings - but nothing unexpected was revealed. True, he wasn't a natural at always seeing the thin divide between the supernatural and the mundane but he should be able to sense it if they had somehow passed outside of the realm of the normal. "There's no way of knowing - not really. Though either of you might know better..."

"You're right," he paused in his pacing so that he could return his attention to the other two. "I'm from Earth, too."

A man's name was Light? Sarah was confused. It certainly was a different name. She shrugged it off. She didn't know anyone by that name.

The notice of their hearts slowing back to a normal pace was a great relief to Sarah. She ran a hand through her hair and breathed in deep, though she technically didn't need to breath the habit was difficult to get rid of. Luckily her stomach stopped churning the way it was before and she was able to make the hunger subside until she was alone. She was starting to think she was a little too hasty in waking them up.

As the conversation turned back to Shinigami she realized that they were talking about supernatural things. A shiver went down her spine as she began recalling everything that had happened so far. She didn't want to think of the idea of kidnaping. Though the two in front of her seemed to be taking the situation at hand a lot more calmer than she was feeling inside.

When they both said that they were on Earth the annoyance kicked in again. "I thought it'd be obvious we'd be on Earth. Where else would we be from? I meant where you last came from. If we were kidnapped I was trying to see if we had anything in common with one another. I was last in Acton, Massachusetts." she offered as an example to what she had truly meant. These two were certainly the most confusing humans she had ever met.

After offering where she was from her brain recalled when the boy on her right called her 'the female.' It didnt't click in at first because she had been thinking of them as 'boy on right' 'boy on left'. "I should probably introduce myself while we're at it. I'm Sarah Vida."

L watched as the other young man got to his feet and began to pace. "Kidnapped?" L asked doubtfully, but it sounded plausible, given their situation. "We were all unconscious... unless I'm mistaken... so we could have been drugged and left here. Though... it begs the answer to the obvious 'why?'" L wasn't about to say that he was a prime target for kidnapping and murder attempts due to his actual identity and occupation. Of course not. "If we assume that this is all supernatural... then we have to be prepared to rethink logic and remain open-minded. That is all we can do." Like Domeki, L was extremely good at keeping his cool in chaotic situations.

"Ah. Where I last came from?" L asked, tilting his head. "I was last in Tokyo, Japan, Sarah Vida. Please call me Ryuzaki." he nibbled his fingertip, not one for formalities in introductions.

"It could be just about anything, especially if we're not eliminating supernatural causes. There's any number of tales of spirits or other such beings kidnapping people," Domeki lifted a single shoulder in something of a shrug, but he was feeling as doubtful about this solution as the other male seemed to be. "Is there any reason we three should be kidnapped, anything that someone or something would want from any of us? Solving that might get us closer to a logical answer."

It was something of a personal question and Domeki seemed to recognize that; he averted his glance, turning his face up to the ash grey of the sky and squinting slightly. His own answer to the question was simple: there was no overt reason for anyone to want to take him unless it was part of some plot to get to someone else. Or perhaps revenge for spirits exorcised in the past, but such things happened only very rarely. What had the witch been fond of saying? Something about there being no such thing as chance...

"Domeki Shizuka, Domeki will do." He responded, turning his attention back to the other two. "I was last in Japan, as well."

Sarah nodded to the boy on her right. "Yeah I was unconcious." No need to tell him that she was dead rather than unconcious. At the questions of why they would be kidnapped, from both boys, Sarah kept her mouth shut. How was she to explain that there were quite a few people out to get her at that moment? Her mother as well as others in her Vida line wanted her either dead or at least on trial. While other vampires wanted their revenge for those that she had killed. She was unsure as to how to answer them any other way than a lie. She was not about to tell everyone that she was a witch/vampire. Looking over at Domeki she threw him an annoyed look, "Why would you be prone to kidnapping?" she said, throwing his own question back at him.

She noded first at Ryuzaki on her right and then at Domeki on her left; in acknowledgement of their names. They both were from Japan as well. At least it was a start. She could finally stop refering them as 'boy on right', 'boy on left'. "Just Sarah is fine." she said, offering a smile to Ryuzaki who chose to use her last name as well.

Sarah pushed herself off the tree to aproach the two with more questions when she kicked a box. Looking down she opened it and it seemed to be a kit of some sorts. "What is this all about?" she wondered aloud. It seemed there were tic tacs, water, socks, a journal with a pen, and some wet matches. "Useless junk, is what it is." she shook her head. Why couldn't whoever brought them there at least provide them with something useful?

Well... I'm a world-famous detective responsible for the imprisonment of thousands of the world's worst criminals...

"No. Of course there's no reason," L lied briskly. Unless he was in the presence of genuine psychics, it would go undetected. The wiry young man, with his shy eyes and disheveled appearance, certainly didn't look like much. Though, inwardly, he took his own value as a genius and a savant into account and tried to appraise the situation as best he could. If someone had found out that he was L... it was quite possible that he, of these three, could have been kidnapped. But that still didn't give any sort of explanation for their mutual predicament. "What about the two of you? Do you have wealthy parents, or knowledge of something that could condemn a dangerous party?" They were the types of questions a detective might ask, but too shallow to be truly probing.

"Alright, Just Sarah," L said, taking the comment too literally as he was wont to do. Craning his neck forward, he glanced curiously at the kit she'd found. "Wait... this is here, for us? Are there others, or anything else?" L was beginning to wake up to the realization that pondering predicaments was all well and good, but sooner or later they would have to actually survive.

Domeki shrugged slightly under the reflected question. His demeanor changed not, even under the annoyed glance and the obvious distress, but the reactions all around caused him to pause. He wouldn't pry - not yet, not when he couldn't predict what would come from it - but he would store away the fact that both of the two with him seemed to hold more than seemed immediately obvious. Perhaps, through this, he could begin to string together why they had been drawn together.

"My parents are long dead and they were never wealthy. The only useful knowledge that I have wouldn't benefit a criminal or anyone of that sort," Domeki cocked an eyebrow to Ryuzaki's questions, finding them a bit strange but he drew no attention to his internal thoughts. Instead, he paused to consider the matter at hand. "I suppose I could be of use in a revenge scheme or to draw someone out but that's mostly relying on the supernatural answer." He shrugged and shook his head. "I'm of no particular interest to anyone."

Domeki released the curious question as to why they were all here in light of the discovery of the box and a quick glance around showed him that two others were nearby in the grass. Walking over, he crouched by the nearest of the two and, opening it, he found the contents to be much the same as the other. "Here are two more, but they're exactly the same." Taking the book from the kit, he flipped lightly through it. "The books look to be already written in, though."

Sarah let out a slightly annoyed laugh at L, "No just call me: Sarah. Not Just Sarah, not Sarah Vida, Sarah." she hoped he would undersand then what she meant.

She shook her head, "I have no more family and am not wealthy. I honestly don't know why I would be taken." Lies. All lies. Her family are alive and well but would put her on trial if they ever caught a gilmpse of her and she knew she would be kidnapped for many reasons if anyone decided to take revenge for something or hurt her because of what she had become. She shrugged at the supernatural comment Domeki made, "Do you honestly think that it could be caused by something like that?" she tried to act as much of an average human as she possibly could. She knew that there was something up with the two boys she was with, no average human would be so calm when thinking about supernatural beings.

Glancing up at Domeki going thorugh his box she then noticed the one closer to L. "It seems that there are one box for each of us. I think that one is supposed to be for you Ryuzaki." she said pointing. The comment of the journal interested Sarah greatly. She opened it up and began going through it. It was already written in. "That's a little weird." she began reading the things that were inside. "Wait a second...these writings are of people talking to each other. They seem as lost as we are..." suddenly she had an idea. "Domeki, can I see your journal for a minute? I want to try something."

No family. Not wealthy. L sighed deeply, wondering if, like him, the others were lying. "Wanted for a revenge scheme?" he asked skeptically. "If someone would care enough to seek revenge against you, or to 'draw out' a person... you are clearly of a very particular interest to someone."

"I don't want to leap to that conclusion," L said in response to Sarah's question. "But it is entirely possible. I have seen stranger things." He left that statement open to interpretation.

Joining his new, apparent companions in their examination of the new items and journals, L thumbed through the pages that were, as Sarah said, already written in. He was wary of notebooks in general, by now, but this didn't seem to be like the death note. This seemed almost comforting, reassuring in that there were others in a similar predicament. "Yes... you should try writing in it," L encouraged, unconsciously glad that he was not being asked to try something potentially risky. Instead, he could simply sit back and watch what happened.

"Do you think?" Domeki responded to Ryuzaki's question with a slightly raised eyebrow. It went unsaid that the only persons to have a particular interest in him, in the case of being kidnapped as he seemingly was, would be a classmate who had enough sense not to come looking for him - or so Domeki hoped. Standing to his full height, he lightly shut the journal through which he had been paging. "In the case of a revenge scheme, would the ones responsible allow the bait to wake - unharmed and free to roam at will?"

The question was casual, almost idle - almost as if they were doing little but making passing conversation. Even for that, Domeki found that playing questions off of Ryuzaki yielded interesting results - especially when the other mentioned that he had seen stranger things. "This could all be something entirely reasonable but would it really be a good idea to dismiss anything when we have no frame of reference?"

"Mm," Domeki nodded easily to the request for his journal and he moved to hand it to Sarah. He did briefly find himself wondering if she would even be able to read it - written all in Japanese as it was - but there was the chance that the answer to that could also lead to an answer as to why the three could converse so easily and so naturally. "Do as you like."

"Stranger things?" Sarah questioned Ryuzkai. She wondered what sort of things he could have seen in his lifetime that overpowered the strangeness of being kidnapped and taken to a forest God knows where.
Looking over at Domeki, Sarah shook her head, "Not usually..." she knew all about revenge schemes and typically the captors liked to keep a close eye on them at all times. Though who knew if someone was watching them or not. She glanced around at the trees surrounding them.

"Thanks." Sarah took his journal and opened up to a new page and did the same with hers. She took the pen and wrote 'Hello' on it to see what would happen with the other one. The word showed up on Domeki's though it appeared in Japanese. "It seems they are connected...but...it translates everything..." she glanced up at the two, with a confused expression on her face. "What language are you speaking, right now?" she wanted to be sure her assumptions were correct.

"I don't know," L said, clearly annoyed with Domeki's question. "I can't deduce anything further with what we've been given. Understand that I share your circumstances, at least in the sense that we woke up in a forest together. If there is a possibility that you were the target of a plot for revenge, that is significant." Anything we might have in common is significant. "I can't say that there is any explanation, readily available or otherwise, that would make this 'reasonable.' Dismissal isn't an option yet, but one is never without a frame of reference. Our object is simply to define ours." Having said his piece, L tightened his lips and returned his attention to the journals, ignoring, for the moment, Sarah's inquiry after the "stranger things" he had mentioned. He was not about to go into details of the strangest case he had ever been a part of.

L found the fact that the journal translated languages to English, at least, and possibly the native language of the owner of the journal, very interesting indeed. He tilted his head, mulling over this latest phenomenon, wondering if someone would die because a notebook had been written in. He would probably never stop being paranoid about notebooks, now. "I'm speaking English," L said, without hesitation. "It is my second language after French." That answered one question about L, at least; though he might have looked it, he was not Japanese.

Domeki quickly came to the decision to simply let the argument with Ryuzaki lie - it would do him no good to push the other further when it was obvious that he was already becoming irritated and, besides, there was little that Domeki could think to say in response. He agreed, for the most part, that they needed to find their common frame of reference but he also found that he had rather sharp doubts as to whether either of the other two were being entirely honest in much of what they were saying. This did offer an interesting insight into the dynamics of the moment but it really didn't offer any useful information as to where they were or why they had been drawn to this particular forest.

In light of that, he merely shook his head and moved so that he could read the writing in his journal over Sarah's shoulder. He did find that, in her journal, he couldn't read a word of what she had written but the entry was quite clear on the page of his own - which meant that the journals naturally knew what languages to translate by individual owner.

"I don't know anything that can translate like that - not automatically," Domeki shook his head, his brow furrowing. "I've been speaking Japanese all along. It's the only language I can speak - though I'm guessing that you've both been speaking English?"

Sarah looked at Ryuzaki with wide eyes. "Wow..." was all she managed to say in response to his long winded speech. "I suppose that's all a possibility." she shook her head at him, brushing it off.

She looked over at Domeki with a confused look on her face. "Japanese? I know nothing in Japanese." she looked back at the journals on the ground before her, "This is rather interesting. Nothing besides internet translations can work this fast...whoever took us has been rather thorough."

Glancing around nervously in the woods Sarah quickly returned Domeki's journal and stood, "Perhaps we should be on our way...see what's nearby." she suggested not wanting to stay in the same spot where whoever brought them here would be willing to mess with them. She took a deep breath and in response her body lurched to it. The scent of the other boy's blood was strong and she forced herself to stop breathing. She didn't want to run any risks with them so close to her.

L didn't find it strange that Domeki simply dropped the argument with him. He tended to exude an aura of confidence when he was in his element, and people tended to automatically assume that he was right when he behaved with the self-assurance he was displaying now. Like Domeki, his attention remained centered on their current, common predicament.

"I speak Japanese," L said, tilting his head, wondering how he could have missed it if Domeki had indeed been speaking something he was so familiar with. Maybe he'd been comprehending without even realizing that the languages had switched over... though, if the blond caucasian girl who professed to have no knowledge of Japanese could understand him too, there were clearly other forces at work. "I speak a lot of languages. But... I think I would have noticed, if we really were communicating differently." he sorted his thoughts in French, German, English, Russian, and Japanese, and he switched over to Arabic for the next several sentences, as an experiment of sorts.

"I agree... we should probably find out what's near here, and if there are other people around," he said in Arabic. Noticing Sarah's sudden deep breath, he turned his attention to her, slipping back to English. "Um... are you... OK?"

"It could be that you two really are speaking a language entirely different from the one I am," Domeki suggested with a slight shrug. It made no more sense to him than it did to the two others to think that they really were speaking different languages but it also made no sense to think that a Caucasian woman who professed to speak no Japanese was lying about it - or that she was able to speak another language without realizing it.

"We already know that these can translate languages instantly," he continued, tapping the cover of his journal lightly. "but we were all unconscious when we arrived here, right? If we are willing to rule out any supernatural source for our sudden ability to understand different languages, then we might have to think that whoever brought us here did something to us to allow us to understand." That thought sat very uncomfortably on him but Domeki wouldn't dismiss it out of hand - not until there was a real answer that held up against any doubts.

"There might even be something useful nearby - a building or someplace where we can shelter," he agreed, seemingly unaware of Ryuzaki's choice to change languages. What he did notice was the sudden change of breathing patterns and he, too, turned a curious glance to Sarah. "Do you need to rest a moment before we go?"
