[filtered to magic users/interested touchy-feely parties - this is posted later in the evening on saturday]

Good news! For those who desired a spritz of calming lavender to assuage the need for a fainting couch over Stuff to be Touched, I assure you that all is well after our first meeting with a newly discovered local coven, who specialize in blood rituals and necromancy (which is also my specialty, though admittedly I've never used blood to Get It Done, as it were). As you may know, we've already established rapport with most of the other local covens, by way of our Outlander coven - Beketh also took some time to warm up to a group of enthusiastic interlopers eager to show off their magic, who would have thought?

We had a pleasant conversation with the new coven called Asetnerra, however, and they are open to meeting more of us. Though we asked kindly for them to dial down the dramatics and simply send a letter next time, should they wish to communicate, because. Well. No one wants a repeat of the Touching the Stuff controversy.

What does the fainting couch look like? I need to know that before reclining on it. But yes, concern very much needed, I don't apologize, I'll tell you stories of leaving blood runes for people in exchange for good wine.

It's sort of L-shaped, I believe? They're quite distinguished looking. Offer accepted, however! I've plenty of good wine to share in exchange for stories. We're brimming with it at Skyhold.

Hm, I am not sure. I haven't fainted once so if I'm going to it has to be on quite the piece of furniture.

You're an adult who can make your own decisions but you are also lucky it didn't melt your brain and ruin your facial hair. That's not me being sensitive that's me saying that in our world, if you try to interact with blood runes and don't have the ability, at best it doesn't work. That's all I'll say!

I always enjoy dramatic furniture that makes for good conversation pieces.

It's a bit different in Thedas, most any mage can learn the specialization of blood magic, just as I imagine it's different in every world including this one - but I certainly respect your input, as a skilled blood mage in your own right. It was actually partly who inspired me to go along with this, in a way, which may sound backward, but - hearing about your use of blood magic made me want to learn more. And not necessarily shun it the way I once might used to do.

I'm good, amatus. I promise. Though no doubt it would have been a beautiful and emotional avenging.

They're friendly enough, if a bit - awkward. You can meet them with me next time?

I probably would've ripped arms off, figure out how to rage properly.

Dorian:
I don't mind meeting with them, I'm just double-checking because I worry? You've had bad brushes with blood magic, so I'm just making sure you're not just being diplomatic to not cause any problems? I'm not saying they might be bad, but I'm just thinking about how you're feeling.

That's more of a turn-on than I thought it would be.

[atreus]

I know, and I love you for that. Blood magic is indeed a sensitive subject for me - but I didn't want to go into this expecting them to be exactly like the Magisters in Tevinter, the ones who use blood magic for awful things. I remain cautious but open to learning more. Otherwise I feel as if I'd be missing out on quite a bit.

That's what it seemed like to me as well. They were quite downtrodden when asked to not send any more flashy blood magic runic messages, having no idea it was 'creepy.'

It makes me wonder when was the last time they talked to others outside of their coven? I'm going to ask around at Geliara on Monday about what others think of that coven. I've never heard them bring it up before so I don't think any of their kids are attending the school.

It must have been awhile. They perhaps have their own educational institutions in place? Still, maybe the more they interact, maybe some of their children will make friends with Outlanders attending Geliara and it could open some doors.

Blood rituals and necromancy. That sounds like a truly thrilling evening with our Tranavian cult. None of them looked particularly feathery, correct?

It was certainly not what I was anticipating, I will say that. But no, not any feathers that I could see. Should I have been worried if there were?

Ah, it depends. Some of them were functioning members of the Tranavian court and trained me when I was quite young. However, there has been some upheaval recently, you know, coups, regime changes, and descents into magical corruption. I do not recommend dealing with the Vultures.

I had a time. I’m not sure I’d call it nice or bad. But I don’t really have much blood magic experience. Just being a badass experience. Or making people bleed if they steal from me experience.

Not sure if our magic works the same, but I’ve been able to do Harry Potter magic and various others. So maybe.

Yeah. I'm not sure I'd have trusted it myself. After everything. I don't know too much about the magic back home, though, outside of Mist Manipulation. So I don't even know if blood magic is a thing.

But at least they'll try to avoid the bloody mirror messages again.
