As I will be a physical education teacher for the school now, I am taking a good look at what the students have available to them as far as equipment goes. I have a great deal of construction experience so, in the coming month, I'm hoping to install the following for school use:

  • An indoor rock climbing wall
  • A large trampoline
  • Two kid-friendly obstacle courses, one for children under 10 and one for teenagers
I haven't gotten actual permission on these yet so if there are concerns or questions, feel free to ask now. There will be a long list of safety measures in place and the risk of injury will be as minimal as most standard P.E. activities and sports involve.

Use of the equipment will not be mandatory. I feel everyone has different needs as far as physical education. Ideally, tools should be used to help students reach a healthy place that suits them and keeps them engaged, instead of wishing they were literally anywhere else. Since we have some flexibility for one-on-one learning here, I'll be adjusting everyone's curriculum on an individual basis. With any luck, I can keep at least three-quarters of the class from hating me.

Ha, fair enough. If you change your mind, let me know. I know quite a few and they are excellent for making friends.

Ouch. I am very sorry to hear that. I am not a therapist by any means, but I can show you a few tips that helped trainees of mine over the years. I would highly recommend finding a qualified medical professional though.

Yeah but you gotta be like super smart and shit, which isn't really me.

Yeah, maybe. I dunno. I had a doctor at home but not like any of that therapist stuff.

I wouldn't say I'm excessively smart, but it does help that I'm good with puzzles and listening closely for details.

They are a lot less intrusive than doctors if that helps any. And patient.

How many languages do you know?

It ain't about - I mean it's sorta about that, I never really liked talking about it. But my mom, she was already dealing with so much, didn't want to drag out my effing mess from everything too with more doctors appointments and crap.

More than a dozen now. Maybe upwards of that. It is hard to keep track after many years and languages changing.

I understand. When I was young, my younger brother was sickly. I tried to stay out of my mother's hair but, well, I was a handful on my own. Anyway, you don't have that to worry about here, yes? And not giving it the extra care it needs could affect you worse down the line.

Are you like super old or something then?

Yeah, maybe. I'll think about it.

Something like that.

No pressure. There are plenty of low impact activities I can arrange for you.
