This is my second Valentine's Day ever, since we didn't really celebrate anything like this back home, at least in the Zephrah part of Tal'Dorei. I think the idea of celebrating love as a holiday is a nice one, but I'm also just someone who likes having added chances to show people, romantic, platonic, familial, or something in between, that you care.
And I understand that roses are a popular flower to give to express that and while I do like roses and usually have a magical blue one on me at all times, I just wanted to share some others, in case you were looking for options to give to another or yourself or you just like flowers:
Peonies remind me of spring and the pink blooms remind me of home. In this color, they're meant to symbolise love itself, as well as being thought to bringing luck to the person that's receiving the flowers.
Tulips also make me think of spring and I think that their bright red really rivals roses sometimes. In red, they represent thoughts like eternal love and passion, but the meanings vary if you go for different shades. Any is appropriate, I think.
Stick with me on this one. I know sunflowers don't give romantic thoughts right away, but there is just something about them. They are associated with positivity and joy, which I think is pretty fitting just looking at them. But I always think about how sunflowers follow the sun and that can be likened romantically to someone and their partner, right?
I think that anemones are just really unique looking which makes them an interesting alternative, but their meaning is also undying love and protection from evil which seems like a pretty nice mix to gift a loved one.
And last I have to mention forget-me-nots and not just because this is the bouquet my partner got this morning. These symbolize a mix of true love and just the idea that you'll never forget someone and they'll be on your mind.
Anyway, happy Valentine's day to everyone out there, but especially to Dorian. Love you, Dor.
