A kitten with no apparent human attached just walked up to my desk in Special Collections to sit on my keyboard and demand pets. What's the protocol on spontaneously appearing animals here? Am I free to take him home and give him a pretentious name, or do I need to clear that with some Vallo authority first?

So you're saying it's an ordinary yet adorable creature one minute, and kind of intimidating in-a-monstrous way the next through circumstances completely out of its control?

Yeah, okay. I can dig it. Want me to see if I can bring it to Black Elm?

If you could, I would appreciate it. There is far too much for an alien kitten to get into here in the library.

Does Cosmo have a cat carrier in one of these dark and cheerless corridors or should I pick one up?

It was in the basement. Pick one up and I'll reimburse you for it.

I'll be there in a bit. Ponder your pretentious names. They've got to be better than Stan.

So far I like Vincent Hydra Van Gogh or Dr. Jekyll best.

I like Dr. Jekyll, but he or she'll probably wind up Doc, so it's your call.

Shortening is inevitable for any name. I can live with it.

Orange cat - a little boy kitten? I hope he's dumb.

It appears to be a boy kitten. Evaluation of intelligence TBD.

Your optimism and dedication to a non-biased evaluation is very endearing.
